    Two boys arrested for listening to Pakistani song in India

    Two people were arrested in India for allegedly attempting to disrupt national integrity by playing pro-Pakistani music on their mobile phones. An FIR was also registered against Naeem and Mustikm, Indian media has reported.

    A video of the incident, in which a shopkeeper can be seen listening to “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans, has gone viral on the internet. A fellow resident of the village complained to the police that the pro-Pakistan music was being played.

    The boys have been slapped with Section 153B (imputation, assertions, prejudicial to national integration), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation. The FIR states that when the complainant asked the two to stop listening to the songs, they allegedly started hurling abuses and said “bad things” about India.

    On other hand, the Pakistani song Pasoori has been trending in India since its release. Many Bollywood celebrities including Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Jasmin Bhasin were seen grooving to the song.

    Actor-producer Sohail Khan and his wife, designer Seema Khan, filed for divorce on Friday. The couple married in 1998 and have two children together. The duo was spotted leaving the family court in Mumbai.

    The couple has been besieged with separation rumours for a long time now. Seema Khan was a part of ‘The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives‘ where the couple was shown as living separately. Seema had later called their marriage as ‘unconventional’ and said, “I will just say this much, because it’s out there, that whatever you see in the show, is the absolute truth. It is what it is, that’s all I want to say about it.”

In fact, so filmy that the two eloped to get married after Seema’s family opposed their relationship. 24 years later, Sohail and Seema filed for divorce at a family court in Mumbai on Friday, May 13.     The duo was spotted leaving a family court in Mumbai after filing for divorce. They got married in 1998. Seema and Sohail had the filmiest love story. Delhi-based Seema had shifted to Mumbai to pursue a career in fashion designing. Soon after, they started dating.

    Seema’s family was against her and Sohail’s relationship. Despite the refusal, the former couple eloped and allegedly got married at an Arya Samaj wedding. In the evening on the same day, they had a nikah ceremony. However, both Seema and Sohail’s families accepted their relationship and marriage. They later welcomed sons Nirvaan in 2000 and Yohan in 2011.

    A 27-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide over her husband’s inability to set up a toilet in their house, reports India Times.

    Ramya from Tamil Nadu in India, a pharmacist by profession, got married to Karthikeyan on April 6.

    It was reported that right after a day of their marriage, Ramya returned to her mother’s house as there was no functional toilet at her husband’s place.

    Despite her husband’s reassurances that he would rent a house with a toilet facility, he never fulfilled any promise. Subsequently, Ramya, disheartened and disappointed, committed suicide on May 10. Her mother found her hanging from her sari.

    She was rushed to the hospital and was admitted there for two days but she eventually passed away on Tuesday.

    Ramya’s mother lodged a complaint against Karthikeyan. However, as per the media report, police are investigating her father’s role in her being upset as he did not approve of the marriage and had not attended any of the events.

  • Pakistan to host Cricket World Cup for veteran players in 2023

    Pakistan will host Cricket World Cup for veteran players in the next year 2023. The age limit for players to play in the tournament would be 40 and above.

    According to Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA), 12 teams will play in the tournament which will commence on September 23, 2023, at six venues in Karachi while the final match will be played on October 8.

    Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman PVCA told the media: “Pakistan will be joined in the World Cup by old rivals – India, Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Canada, USA, Zimbabwe, Wales, UAE, and Namibia.”

    He added, “It is going to be a major event and we will take all steps to make sure that we host it successfully.”

    “We have a number of leading cricketers who would be eligible to compete in the World Cup. We are hoping that top players like Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, and Mohammad Hafeez will play for Pakistan. We are going to field a very strong team and will be the favorites to win the World Cup,” he further said.

    There is a new concept that will give an opportunity to former cricketers to play on the fields again while young audiences and players will also get another chance to see their seniors playing on the grounds.

    Every match will be of 45 overs and local TV channels will broadcast the matches of Pakistan including the semi-finals and finals live.

    The Veterans World Cup, aged above 50, was first launched in Australia in 2018. However, its second edition was canceled due to a covid pandemic.

  • UK PM Boris Johnson begins his India tour from Modi’s home state Gujrat

    British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson arrived in India on Thursday for his first-ever visit. He is expected to offer his help to India cut reliance on Russian oil and defense equipment, reports Reuters.

    Johnson has begun his two-day tour from Indian PM Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. On Friday, Johnson will visit New Delhi to meet his counter partner, where the two of them will have a take on certain topics including a new defense partnership and a free trade agreement.

    Western countries have urged Delhi to speak out against the war in Ukraine. India, which imports Russian oil and is the world’s biggest buyer of its weapons, abstained in a United Nations (UN) vote condemning the invasion and has not imposed sanctions on Moscow.

    However, Indian PM Modi has expressed concern over the killing of civilians.

    Earlier this month, the United States (US) President Joe Biden told Modi that buying more oil from Russia is not in India’s interest. According to Johnson’s spokesperson, “Johnson will not lecture Modi on the matter.”

    It is pertinent to mention that the United Kingdom (UK) has been at the forefront in providing military aid and support to Ukraine. Johnson recently visited Kyiv to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky. 

    Previously, the India trip has been twice postponed because of Covid flare-ups in each country.

    A man attempted to commit suicide by hanging from a balcony of his house after a fight with his wife in Ghaziabad, a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). A video of the incident went viral across social media in which his family can be seen trying to pull him up from the first floor of the house.

    According to police, the incident took place in the Ghaziabad area of Uttar Pradesh. The wife of the hanging man immediately called in Indian cops to rescue her husband.

    Indian Police officer shared the video on Twitter, “It’s serious… After a quarrel with his wife, a man tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from the balcony. Meanwhile, people pulled him up and saved him.”

    However, his family rescued him with help of some neighbours.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter in response to Indian PM Narendra Modi’s letter. In his letter, Modi had expressed his desire for developing constructive relations with Pakistan.

    “Reciprocating your sentiments, I wish to convey that Pakistan remains committed to the maintenance of regional peace and security. Our sacrifices and contributions in fighting and eliminating terrorism are well known and globally acknowledged,” wrote PM Shehbaz.

    PM Shehbaz added that peaceful and cooperative ties between Pakistan and India are “imperative for the progress and socio-economic uplift of the people of the two countries as well as for the region”.

    “This can be best achieved through meaningful engagement and peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes, including the core issue of Jammu & Kashmir,” wrote PM Shehbaz. “Let’s secure peace and work for the progress and prosperity of our people.”

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry criticised Shehbaz Sharif’s letter to Modi.

    “We reject this letter. We will not let imported government to bargain away Kashmir. Until and unless Modi restores Kashmir’s status, any offer to talk will tantamount to betraying the people of Kashmir.”

    In a horrifying incident, a man in India’s Maharashtra allegedly killed his 40-year-old wife by strangulating her in a fit of rage after she added excessive salt to the khichrri that she served him for breakfast, reports India.com.

    The man has been identified as 46-year-old Nilesh Ghagh. According to the police, the accused strangulated his wife using a long piece of cloth.

    After being alerted, the police reached the spot and sent the woman’s body for post-mortem to a local government hospital.

    The police have registered a case against the accused under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

    According to the publication, a similar incident had taken place last week when a man shot his daughter-in-law dead after she failed to serve him breakfast along with tea.

    Four men arrested for allegedly raping a monitor lizard

    Four men have been arrested in India for allegedly raping a  Bengal monitor lizard. According to media reports, the incident took place in Sahydari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra.

    Sandeep Tukram, Pawar Mangesh, Janardhan Kamtekar, and Akshay Sunil are four hunters suspected of breaking into the reserve and committing the crime. The accused were being probed after they were booked on March 31 for illegally entering the forest when the crime came to light, the official said. A video found on one of the accused’s phones shows the men gang-raping the lizard.

    In addition to the video of the men sexually abusing the monitor lizard, officials also found photos of various animals such as porcupines and deer on their phones.

    Only one of the accused was arrested at first, while the others fled. The last three were eventually discovered in Hativ village in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district. The men travelled from Konkan to hunt in Kolhapur’s Chandoli hamlet, according to officials.

    Massive hike of Rs83.5 for petrol, Rs119 for diesel proposed by OGRA

    The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) suggested the federal government elevate fuel prices by up to Rs83.5 per liter for petrol and Rs119 for diesel.

    A summary to the petroleum division was presented by OGRA for the huge increase in petroleum rates to come into effect on April 16 in Pakistan.

    The proposed raise was calculated using a 70 per cent GST rate plus a Rs30 per liter levy. It is worth noting that the current duty on fuel and diesel is Rs30 per liter, plus 17 per cent GST.

    On the basis of complete levy and taxes, the body has recommended raising petrol prices by Rs83.5 per liter, while diesel prices should be raised by Rs119 per liter.

    According to reports, the OGRA proposed raising the petrol price to Rs21.53 per liter in line with the current tax rate, Rs51.3 for diesel, and Rs77.56 for kerosine oil on the grounds of full tax and levy.

    Concerning other oil products, a full tax rate and levy hike of Rs77.31 was suggested for light diesel, Rs36.5 for kerosine oil, and Rs38.89 for light diesel. According to sources, the finance ministry would make the final decision on the OGRA summary after briefing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
