Punjabi boys just want to have fun: Wild Wild Punjab review

I recently watched ‘Wild Wild Punjab’ on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. The film is  the story of a group of friends who embark on a riotous journey to crash their buddy’s ex-girlfriend’s wedding. Determined to seek closure and declare, “I am over you,” they set off on a mission to Pathankot, fueled by heartbreak and a few drinks. The cast, including Varun Sharma, Sunny Singh, Jassie Gill, and Manjot Singh, deliver impressive performances in this comedy. The film’s writers and directors, Luv Ranjan and Simarpreet Singh, deserve credit for giving new faces a chance to shine in roles that fit their characters perfectly.

The story is engaging, with the friends navigating their conflicting desires and misadventures, all while maintaining a light-hearted, comedic tone. The music in the film is exciting and enhances the film’s lively atmosphere. The film features upbeat tracks like ‘Meri Baggi Mera Ghoda’ and ‘Husn Irani,’ which add to the energetic vibe. The film’s message about the importance of friendship and adventure is valuable.

While the friends’ journey is entertaining, it also highlights the significance of embracing life’s chaos and unpredictability.

This could be a one-time watch film recommendation. ‘Wild Wild Punjab’ is a fun, colorful, and heartwarming film that you can enjoy with family but I will not recommend you to watch with family because of the slang language used in the film.

One drawback of the film, in my opinion, after the interval was becoming drag there were some extra scenes. The film can be a little short instead of dragging it.

Indian actress Dolly Singh’s bold Independence Day video gets support from Hania Aamir

Famous actress Hania Aamir is receiving high praise from Indian social media users.

Hania recently uploaded a video by renowned Indian content creator and actress Dolly Singh on her instagram account.

In the caption, the Pakistani star praised the Indian actor for her powerful message.

Dolly Singh, known for humorous content on social media, addressed women’s protection in her video.

Singh expressed anger on the gang rape of a 31-year-old female doctor in the Indian state of Kolkata.

“Women are given a lot of advice to take care of themselves,” began Dolly before emphasizing that when a woman or girl is mistreated, the blame often falls on the victim.

At the end of the video, a visibly emotional Dolly remarked that no matter how much a woman takes care of herself, something still happens to her in the end.

On India’s 78th Independence Day, Singh deliberately congratulated only men for their freedom, saying, “Only men are free in our country; women have not been freed yet.”

After Hania Aamir shared the video on her account, Indian online users have praised her and questioned the silence of their own actresses.
Viewers have remarked that, in this case, Hania Aamir has spoken up for women’s rights and praised Dolly Singh’s message, while their own actresses keep silent.

‘Mesmerised, blown away, and proud’: Sanam Saeed on Barzakh

Sanam Saeed always lets her work speak for her. When the actress does speak, she never shies away from saying exactly what is on her mind.

Though her latest project Barzakh, written and directed by Asim Abbasi, landed in controversy, she has come to its defence. The series attracted a lot of attention due to its incredible cinematography however, its queer-themed content stirred massive controversy, invoking mixed reactions across the region.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Saeed shared her thoughts on the overwhelming response to the web series.
The Barzakh actress said, “The feedback has been quite overwhelming. Mesmerised, blown away, and proud are just the adjectives that I’ve gotten to hear. People are really overwhelmed, intrigued, curious and have slowly understood that this is not a show that they can just binge-watch. It’s something that they have to really focus on and watch with a lot of attention.”

Despite the backlash, particularly in Pakistan where Barzakh was removed from YouTube, Saeed remains positive about its impact, especially in India. “It was this really beautiful exchange that happened (through the platform, Zindagi) where people’s eyes were opened up,’ noting how Indian audiences gained new insights into Pakistani culture.”

Although she hasn’t had an opportunity yet, the actor expressed cautious optimism about the possibility of working in India in the future.

“I haven’t experienced it, so I can’t say that I miss it because I’ve never gone to India for work. But things will happen one day”, Saeed added.
