  • Why is India hosting the World Cup with empty stadiums?

Why is India hosting the World Cup with empty stadiums?

Social media users are questioning the decision by the ICC to let India host the World Cup when there is no opening ceremony and barely any spectators in the first match.

Interestingly, when the Asia Cup was being partially hosted by Pakistan, some Indians criticized the ‘empty stadium’ in Multan. Now, the tables have turned, India is the host, the first match is between New Zealand and England, finalists of the last World Cup, and the stadium is empty. There was no opening ceremony for ICC World Cup 2023 and honestly, we can’t see spectators either.

This one’s hilarious, to be honest, does this remind you of Asif Zardari too?

Twitter user Ahsan Shehzad said, “A complete empty stadium in Ahmedabad, is India the right place to host the WC??”

Fans react to Babar Azam being ‘ignored’ by ICC in World Cup promo

On July 20, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a promo for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Cricket fans around the world have strongly reacted to Babar Azam, number one ODI batter, being ignored by the ICC in its recently released World Cup promo in which Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also made an appearance.

ICC tweeted: “History will be written and dreams will be realised at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. All it takes is just one day.”

However, cricket fans were quick to point out an obvious omission by the ICC in its World Cup promo.

The missing factor: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam.

  • Modi influence: BJP leader Amit Shah forces son Jay Shah to exclude Pakistan from Asia Cup

Modi influence: BJP leader Amit Shah forces son Jay Shah to exclude Pakistan from Asia Cup

The controversy surrounding the upcoming Asia Cup has taken yet another bad turn as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders intervene into the stand-off between Pakistan and India.

Sources are saying that Asia Cup will be canceled and India is planning instead to play a five- nation Asian cricket cup in India excluding Pakistan.

Media speculations are rife that BJP leader Amit Shah has influenced his son Jay Shah, who is the president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and also the secretary of Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI), to exclude Pakistan from Asia Cup 2023.

The same, as yet unconfirmed, reports have said that Amit Shah is also forcing his son not to send the Indian team to Pakistan. Reportedly, these decisions were debated overnight at the behest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Pakistan is likely to boycott World Cup 2023 if India axes Asia Cup 2023, with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi stating loud and clear that we will not back off from hosting the tournament as no team has security concerns. “We have hosted many international teams, so it’s clear that there is no security threats in Pakistan for Indian team.

If India will not want to play their matches in Pakistan we will provide them hybrid model but it’s we who decide where Indian Team will play, not them, because we are the host,” he said.

Asia Cup without Pakistan will not be the same because the revenue India and Pakistan matches produce is unmatchable.

Ganguly made the comments in an event in Gurgaon while answering which player has the best attitude according to him. “I like Virat Kohli’s attitude but he fights a lot,” said the BCCI president.

Both the Indian cricketing giants left the fans confused after Kohli contradicted Ganguly’s statements regarding captaincy shuffle.

Kohli, while addressing a press conference ahead of India’s tour to South Africa, claimed that he wasn’t asked to continue to lead the side in the shorter format. However, days before the presser, the BCCI president said in an interview that he personally approached Kohli to remain at the helm in T20Is.

In the same presser, India’s Test captain also put an end to the speculations of a rift between him and senior batter Rohit Sharma, stating he has been doing the same for the past two years and urged people to look beyond it.

Ganguly was also asked about how to manage stress, to which the former India captain had a very sarcastic answer. “There is no stress in life. Only wife and girlfriend give stress,” he said.

Meanwhile, after Kohli’s explosive presser, the BCCI president refused to comment much about it and asserted that the BCCI will deal with it.

Kohli and his unit are currently in South Africa where they will play a three-match Test series starting from December 26.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, Ramiz Raja and several members from the cricket fraternity took to social media to congratulate New Zealand for winning the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) title. The black caps defeated India by eight wickets at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, Babar wrote: “Congratulations to New Zealand on this remarkable feat. WTC is indeed a premier contest and you can’t succeed without perseverance and dedication. Team India also put up a great show throughout the tournament. Awesome contest!”

Former Pakistani cricketer and commentator Raja said: “Good things happen to good people. Congrats Kane Williamson.”

“Congrats @BLACKCAPS on winning the #WTC21. You were the superior team. #TeamIndia will be disappointed with their performance. As I had mentioned the first 10 overs will be crucial & Flag of India lost both Kohli & Pujara in the space of 10 balls & that put a lot of pressure on the team,” tweeted Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Virender Sehwag praised Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor for their match-winning partnership. “Missed being 50-over champions 2 years ago in the same country, but winning the inaugural World test Championship in style, many congratulations @BLACKCAPS , absolutely worthy champions. Happy for Kane Williamson and @RossLTaylor”, he tweeted.

Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum took to Twitter to pass on his wishes to Kane Williamson and his team. “To Kane and all of the boys, We love you”, he wrote on Twitter.
