    70 injured by Independence Day aerial firing

    Aerial firing to celebrate Independence Day has injured 70 people in Karachi.

    The injured persons were taken to hospitals from different areas of Karachi, including Korangi, Gulshan e Iqbal, Mauripur, PIB colony, Jamshed Quarter, Lyari, and Malir, rescue sources told Geo News.
    Firing was also reported in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Sharifabad, Pak Colony, and Akhtar Colony.

    Women and children were also injured, however , no loss of life has been reported till now.

  • Attack on police station in Quetta leaves one police officer injured

    A police officer was wounded on Saturday when an unidentified assailant hurled a hand grenade at the Smart Police Station, Civil Lines, in Quetta.

    The injured officer has been identified as Abdul Saboor.

    According to the police, an unidentified motorcyclist carrying a hand grenade attacked the police station located in the White Road area of Quetta.

    The hand grenade resulted in a powerful explosion. As per local authorities the attacker managed to flee the scene.

    During the last 24 hours, at least eight people were killed and 962 were injured in 914 road accidents across all 37 districts of Punjab.

    577 people were seriously injured and taken to various hospitals, while 385 people with minor injuries were treated on the spot by rescue medical teams. Once again, Lahore remained at the top in reporting highest number of accidents.

    According to the findings, 450 drivers, 27 underage drivers, 104 pedestrians, and 388 passengers were killed in traffic accidents. The road accidents involved a considerable number of two-wheelers as it involved 807 motorcycles, 82 auto-rickshaws, 74 motorcars, 22 vans, 11 buses, 17 trucks, and 100 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts.

    Considering the statistics, 239 road accidents were reported in Lahore, affecting 238 people, putting the provincial capital at the top of the list, followed by 80 in Faisalabad with 85 victims and 53 in Multan with 50 victims.

    Blast in Karachi: One dead, 11 injured

    A blast has been reported near the New Memon Mosque in Karachi’s Kharadar district, and casualties are expected. As per Geo, at least a young woman has been killed and 11 people have been injured as the result of the blast.

    According to television footage, motorcycles, rickshaws, and a police car were damaged, with people attempting to put out the flames. While the actual origin of the explosion has yet to be determined, residents believe it was triggered by an explosive device mounted to a two-wheeler.

    The development comes four days after the Saddar blast, that left one person dead and 13 injured. The terror attack is still being investigated.

    Lahore ranks first in reporting most traffic accidents

    During the last 24 hours, the Punjab Emergency Service Department (PESD) dealt with 1,115 accidents across the province. 11 persons died and 1,161 were injured in these car accidents.

    As per the data, there were 272 road accidents in Lahore, impacting 280 people, putting the Provincial Capital at the top of the list, followed by 98 in Faisalabad, with 111 victims, and 79 in Multan, with 83 victims.

    664 people were critically hurt and were taken to nearby hospitals. Rescue medical teams treated 497 minor injured people at the scene of the accident. Around 69 per cent of traffic accidents involved motorcycles.

    Moreover, 561 drivers, 46 underage drivers, 113 pedestrians, and 498 passengers were among the sufferers of these road traffic collisions, according to the report.

    The figures also indicated that 1,172 people were impacted in road traffic accidents, comprising 979 men and 183 women, with 256 of the deceased being under the age of 18 and 605 being between the ages of 18 and 40, and the remaining 311 being above the age of 40.

    In the aforementioned road accidents, 989 motorcycles, 77 auto-rickshaws, 145 automobiles, 26 vans, 10 passenger buses, 37 trucks, and 109 other types of cars and sluggish carts were involved.

    PTI’s Maleeka Bokhari gets injured during a scuffle in NA

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Maleeka Bokhari was injured when the National Assembly (NA) turned into complete mayhem as Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif addressed the lower house.

    In a press conference on Wednesday, Maleeka said, ” The people have elected us. We are equally part of the democracy as you are.”

    “Accept this position and do not consider throwing shoes from the other side of the aisle. Do not use abusive language for the members of parliament,” added Maleeka, criticising the Opposition.

    “You [ Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz] do not differentiate between a man and a woman. All you see is he/she is a member of PTI, and you attack them,” said Maleeka.

    In a video shared by State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib on Tuesday, the PTI lawmaker Bokhari can be seen getting treatment for her injured eye.

    The NA proceedings witnessed violent scenes when parliamentarians were seen creating a ruckus, using filthy language, whistling, and attacking each other with budget books during and after the speech of Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif.

    One of the members from the treasury benches threw a book towards Shehbaz, which fell on the dais in front of him. PTI and PML-N members then came close to a physical brawl in front of the NA Speaker’s chair, but he could do anything requesting parliamentarians to behave and later adjourning the house.

    Firdous faced backlash from the public calling her statement ‘unbelievable’.

    A woman reacted to the comments of Firdous, and wrote on Twitter, “What have we done to deserve this ?”

    Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan tweeted a clarification regarding her controversial statement. “This is the first major train accident in the last 15 months. One of my statements given in this regard is being taken out of context.”

    Two express trains collided on Monday in Sindh’s Ghotki and killed over 50 passengers, while more than 100 others have been injured, said police and rescue officials.

    In the midst of the tragic incident of Ghotki, Firdous’ statement was thought to be inept and lacked empathy.

    Shopkeeper beats up female customer over argument on price in Lahore

    A shopkeeper in Lahore beat up a female customer with a glass bottle and also thrashed another person after a heated argument ensued between them over the price of a product.

    As per reports, the shopkeeper thrashed the woman and a man over the argument and later also hit the lady with a glass bottle. The woman is being identified as Farah Bibi.

    The police allegedly refused to register a case against the shopkeeper when the injured approached the Ghaziabad police station.

    Commenting on the matter, the station house officer (SHO) Ghaziabad said that a woman named Farah was hit with a bottle. He said that they could only register an FIR after a medical examination of the victim.

    Meanwhile, the woman has alleged that the police are deliberately siding with the shopkeeper and have refused to register a case against him and were delaying a medical report into the matter.
