    In a strategic move to stimulate demand, Lucky Motor Corporation, formerly known as Kia Lucky Motors Pakistan, has announced a significant reduction in the prices of its popular compact SUV, the Sportage.

    The revised prices, effective from March 4, have been lowered by up to Rs300,000.

    The basic variant, Alpha, has witnessed a substantial decrease of Rs250,000, now priced at Rs7.3 million.

    Additionally, the prices of Sportage’s FWD, AWD, and limited black edition variants have all been reduced by Rs300,000. Consequently, the new prices stand at Rs7.74 million, Rs8.47 million, and Rs9 million, respectively.

    This move comes amid challenging times for the automobile sector in Pakistan, which experienced a significant 50% year-on-year decline in sales during the first half of fiscal year 2024.

    Experts anticipate that Lucky Motor Corporation’s decision to lower Sportage prices could contribute to a resurgence in its sales.

    It’s important to note that while Sportage undergoes a price adjustment, other models such as Picanto and Stonic will maintain their current pricing.

    Kia had already implemented several promotional offers, including installment plans, cashback, and free registration, to entice potential buyers.

    This latest price reduction aligns with the industry trend, as competitors like Chery Tiggo and Changan Oshan have also lowered their prices by Rs300,000.

    Industry observers attribute Sportage’s recent sales challenges to intensified competition, particularly with the introduction of the Corolla Cross in the same price range.

    Although the latter is a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), it has further heightened the competition in the market.

    Despite Lucky Motor Corporation’s efforts, reports suggest that the previously offered interest-free loan policy and other incentives haven’t generated substantial demand.

    Furthermore, a cashback offer of Rs150,000 on booking across all Sportage variants, which was in place before the price adjustment, failed to attract significant attention from potential buyers.

These installment plans are envisioned to provide customers with a respite, allowing them to manage their electricity bill payments more effectively while maintaining their financial stability.

    To further enhance customer convenience, IESCO has also taken the initiative to extend the due dates for electricity bill payments. This calculated move underscores the company’s commitment to accommodating the unique challenges faced by its customers.

    Dr Amjad Khan underscored the importance of open communication, urging IESCO’s patrons to engage with the relevant Sub-Divisional Offices, Revenue Offices, or Customer Service Centers for any concerns related to their bills. This approach underscores IESCO’s dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving any uncertainties promptly.

    Nevertheless, this considerate move coincides with ongoing protests across the nation, ignited by grievances against inflated electricity bills. Demonstrators, who have congregated outside the IESCO office in Rawalpindi for the past four days, have now rallied in various cities, including Sargodha, Hafizabad, Vehari, and Hyderabad.

    In response to the heightened tensions, IESCO officials have taken precautions by involving the local police to bolster security measures. This step is aimed at safeguarding the well-being of both the demonstrators and IESCO’s employees.

    The protestors have been resolute in their demands, seeking a reduction in the substantial charges or even pledging to withhold bill payments until their concerns are heard. These demonstrations, set against a backdrop of broader economic challenges and escalating inflation, reflect the mounting frustrations of citizens grappling with financial hardships.

    The protestors hail from diverse backgrounds, encompassing members of civil society, men and women alike, traders, farmers, and representatives from legal and business sectors. This broad participation underscores the pervasive concern and unified front against economic difficulties and price hikes.

    As electricity prices continue their upward trajectory and taxes weigh heavily on citizens, these widespread demonstrations emphasise the pressing need to address economic grievances.

  • Here’s how to pay PTA approval fees in installments with 0% markup

    Bank Alfalah’s e-marketplace, Alfa Mall, has recently launched a new service that offers interest-free installments for Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) approvals on some of the most popular and expensive smartphones. The smartphones that qualify for this service include the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Ultra, iPhone 13, and all iPhone 14 series phones.

    According to the Alfa Mall website, the total PTA charges for these phones range between Rs130,000 to Rs190,000, which can be paid in 3 to 6 monthly installments with 0 per cent markup. The process is simple: customers need to select an installment plan, enter their CNIC number, and also provide the IMEI code of their phone.

    It is important to note that the PTA approval process may take up to 3 to 5 working days, and customers will be notified of their approval through a confirmation call from the merchant.

    With this new service, Alfa Mall aims to provide customers with a more affordable and convenient way to purchase high-end smartphones without the burden of upfront payment for PTA approvals.
