    The anticipated launch will introduce new models, including 11-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Pro versions, alongside a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air. Additionally, consumers can expect refreshed Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories to accompany these devices.

    This announcement marks a notable event for Apple, as it’s been nearly eighteen months since the release of any new iPad hardware. The upcoming iPad Pros are expected to boast enhanced displays, transitioning from mini-LED to OLED panels similar to those found in iPhones.

    This upgrade promises deeper contrast and increased brightness. Alongside display improvements, there’s anticipation for a sleeker design, with a thinner chassis and a repositioned front camera to the landscape edge. These new models will be powered by the advanced M3 chip.

    However, consumers may need to prepare for potential price hikes, as hinted by Gurman’s newsletter. Currently, the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch model begins at $1099.

    For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the new 12.9-inch iPad Air aims to deliver a larger screen size without breaking the bank. Details regarding its processor, whether M2 or M3, remain unclear at this stage.

    Excitingly, the new accessories are expected to enhance the user experience further. Rumors suggest that the new Apple Pencil might include a new squeeze gesture feature, while the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is set to mimic a laptop with its aluminum base and larger trackpad.

    Although updates for the base model iPad and iPad mini are scheduled for later in the year, Gurman anticipates only minor improvements, primarily a processor upgrade for the iPad mini.

    While the specific products remain undisclosed, speculations hint at new iPads, Macs, and accessories. Notably, Beats Solo 4 headphones are also on Apple’s agenda.

    According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant plans to unveil new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and MacBook Air models, accompanied by fresh Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories.

    Gurman suggests that Apple will forgo a traditional event, opting to announce these innovations on its website through a series of online videos and marketing campaigns, expected in March or April.

    Anticipated releases include two iPad Pro models featuring the M3 chip, OLED displays, a thinner build, a landscape-oriented front camera, a redesigned rear camera bump, and the possibility of MagSafe wireless charging. Additionally, two new iPad Air models with the M2 chip, including a 12.9-inch variant, are expected. 

    A revamped Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro with a larger trackpad and other design enhancements is in the pipeline, along with new MacBook Air models sporting the M3 chip, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 support.

    Further potential announcements encompass a new colour option for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, new colour choices for iPhone cases, and Apple Watch bands. 

    While rumours circulate about a new Apple TV and a screen-equipped HomePod in early 2024, their readiness remains uncertain.

    Speculations about a fourth-generation iPhone SE are also afoot, with a rumoured release timeframe of 2025.

    According to French tech website iPhoneSoft, Apple’s upcoming operating system iPadOS 17 will no longer support the first-generation 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models, as well as the fifth-generation iPad. This news corroborates earlier reports from a source with a reliable track record for predicting upcoming software updates. If the information is accurate, only the following devices will be compatible with iPadOS 17 when it is released in the fall: iPad Pro (2017 and later), iPad Air (third generation and later), iPad (sixth generation and later), and iPad mini (fifth generation and later).

    It’s important to note, however, that being on Apple’s compatibility list doesn’t guarantee that the device will fully support all features of the software. For instance, iOS 15 is compatible with all devices that can run iOS 14, but not all features will be available on older iPhones.

    In terms of iPhone compatibility, there are conflicting reports. The same source that leaked information about the iPad models that will be dropped from iPadOS 17 claimed that iOS 17 will also drop support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. However, another anonymous leaker, who has shared accurate information in the past, disputed this claim. According to this second source, all iPhones that support iOS 16 will also support iOS 17, including devices powered by A11 chipsets like the iPhone X and iPhone 8/8 Plus.

    Last year, iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 discontinued support for several devices, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, original iPhone SE, final iPod touch, second-generation iPad Air, and fourth-generation iPad mini. Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 during its WWDC keynote on June 5th.

    According to a recent report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPad in 2024. According to Kuo, the next iPad will not be released this year, and mass manufacturing of the new iPad Mini will start in Q1 of 2024.

    These iPads will be manufactured by Anjie Technology and will contain a carbon fiber kickstand at their back.

    Apple will “continue benefiting from the growing trends of foldable devices, equipped with kickstands in the future,” said Kuo.

    It’s likely that the kickstand Kuo mentioned will be fixed in the iPad case since foldables can easily stand without the need for a kickstand. On the other hand, the foldable iPad might not be as stable and need a kickstand at its back for support.

    While the tech giant is currently experiencing a 15 per cent decline in tablet shipments, analysts believe that the release of the first foldable iPad will be a big break for the company.

    The bigger displays and OLED panels of the new iPad Pro tablets, which were also introduced, are likely to make them broader for hand usage.

    A foldable tablet can significantly improve portability because it can be difficult to carry usual tablets because they often do not fit in pockets. Apple users will soon be able to carry their iPads with ease thanks to the folding iPad.

    Apple is reportedly considering transferring some of its iPad production to India

    According to two sources close to the Indian government, India is looking into ways to transfer some of Apple’s iPad production from China. The tech behemoth is reportedly in constant communication with authorities. Although no specific plans have been established, if the initiative is successful, Apple’s presence in the country would expand.

    Apple said earlier this year that it has started producing the premium iPhone 14 in southern India. For a number of years, the tech giant has produced the country’s older iPhone models.

    Following nationwide protests that have taken place over the past two weeks in response to Beijing’s tough zero-Covid policy, the tech giant has announced plans to diversify more of its supply chain away from China. Apple issued a warning in early November that iPhone shipments will be delayed as a result of the Chinese government’s lockdowns, and experts have been lowering their expectations for the important holiday shopping period.

    Over the weekend, The Wall Street Journal claimed that Apple is aggressively exploring to move production out of China to other Asian nations, including Vietnam and India.

    Even so, sources warn that similar ambitions in India could be slowed down by a shortage of highly skilled workers and people with experience in creating complicated products like the iPad. The backdrop of foreign policy, with rising hostilities between China and India, is particularly unhelpful. Due to recent territorial disputes between the two nations, the military presence near the China-India border has increased.

    10 per cent of Apple iPhones, according to Gene Munster of Loop Ventures, are produced in India, but he anticipates a gradual increase in output.

    “I think in five years, 35 per cent will be manufactured in India,” added Munster. “I think Apple will add iPhone production to other countries outside of India and China in the next five years. Perhaps Vietnam, Malaysia and the USA.” In a note to clients, Piper Jaffray’s Harsh Kumar wrote: “While Apple has made efforts to move production out of China, in our opinion, India still accounts for less than 5.”
