  • Here’s how to pay PTA approval fees in installments with 0% markup

Bank Alfalah’s e-marketplace, Alfa Mall, has recently launched a new service that offers interest-free installments for Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) approvals on some of the most popular and expensive smartphones. The smartphones that qualify for this service include the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Ultra, iPhone 13, and all iPhone 14 series phones.

According to the Alfa Mall website, the total PTA charges for these phones range between Rs130,000 to Rs190,000, which can be paid in 3 to 6 monthly installments with 0 per cent markup. The process is simple: customers need to select an installment plan, enter their CNIC number, and also provide the IMEI code of their phone.

It is important to note that the PTA approval process may take up to 3 to 5 working days, and customers will be notified of their approval through a confirmation call from the merchant.

With this new service, Alfa Mall aims to provide customers with a more affordable and convenient way to purchase high-end smartphones without the burden of upfront payment for PTA approvals.

  • Huawei to copy iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island cutout design for its next smartphone

Huawei to copy iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island cutout design for its next smartphone

The iPhone 14 series was introduced in September of last year and marked a significant change for Apple. Unlike previous releases which typically had a similar design, the company decided to eliminate the notch in its Pro models and replace it with the “Dynamic Island.”

This new cutout houses the front camera and Face ID sensors, and was well-received by users. Other manufacturers were inspired by this change and started working on similar designs.

Huawei was one of the first companies to follow suit, and the Huawei Nova 11 series will feature a new pill-shaped cutout screen. This is a first for the Chinese tech giant, which has used various punch-hole techniques in the past. The most popular of these was a single hole or pill-shaped camera placement in the top left corner of the screen. However, for the first time, Huawei will position its cameras in the middle, similar to Apple’s “Dynamic Island.”

Nova 11 series is also set to launch with the XMAGE camera system, which is expected to offer a better photography experience for users. The Dynamic Island feature is expected to have similar functionality to Apple’s, but no further details have been announced at this time. It is likely that the phone will run on HarmonyOS, as with other current Huawei models.

  • Here’s how to receive calls, messages on non-PTA iPhone using any approved iPhone

Here’s how to receive calls, messages on non-PTA iPhone using any approved iPhone

PTA approval costs are currently inconceivable in Pakistan, especially for the newest iPhone models, and people are constantly looking for ways to use their SIM on their iPhone, which does everything except make calls.

If you have spent a significant amount and do not have the money to pay for its approval, especially if you have purchased the most recent models that get approved for more over Rs140,000, you can buy any old affordable iPhone to use sim on your primary recently purchased iPhone.

If you’re curious about how it could happen, here is a method. On both devices, you can do it by using the same Apple ID. Think about investing in an iPhone 6 that won’t set you back more than Rs20,000. After you activate the PTA-approved iPhone and enter your sim card, all of your calls will be routed to both iPhones.

Interestingly, since both iPhones will be connected to/synchronized with the same Apple ID, you will be able to attend all calls that you receive on your sim on your non-PTA approved iPhone.

Here’s what you can do if you already have an extra PTA-approved iPhone:

    • Go to Settings > Phone
    • Tap Calls on Other Devices
    • Tap Allow Calls on Other Devices switch to turn on
    • For first-time setup:
    • Add Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices
    • Tap to enable other iCloud® devices to make and receive calls
    • From the ‘Allow Calls On’ section, tap the switches to turn to call for that device on

When you’re connected to WiFi or utilising your PTA-approved iPhone’s hotspot, it’s a terrific method to continue using your non-PTA-approved phone because you can always take calls on both phones.

Even yet, getting your iPhone PTA-approved is strongly advised because all of them are only short-term fixes and can be irritating.

  • Apple fixes iMessage and FaceTime bugs in iPhone 14 series with new iOS update

Apple fixes iMessage and FaceTime bugs in iPhone 14 series with new iOS update

Many purchasers were excited to get their hands on the new Apple iPhone 14 series when it was released. However, the new gadgets also include a major iOS upgrade, which implies that there are some issues.

The Cupertino-based company has now released a new support document in which it notifies purchasers about the troubles that the new iPhone 14 series is experiencing. According to the brand’s support manual, the latest 2022 iPhone models have various issues with popular basic apps such as FaceTime and iMessage. Furthermore, the business noted that both of these apps are affected by more than one problem.

One of the problems, it appears, makes receiving texts and phone calls difficult. Another notable issue is that when sending a text, green chat bubbles appear instead of blue chat bubbles. Other issues include people receiving messages from the wrong profile and conversations in Messages, which appear as two separate threads.

However, the majority of these issues have been resolved with the iOS 16.0.1 update, which has been rolled out for all iPhones that are eligible for the current software version. So, once you have your hands on a fresh new iPhone 14 series, it’s recommended that you update it right away during the first setup procedure. If it doesn’t work, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • Thai organ donation center warns that selling kidneys to get an iPhone 14 is ‘unethical’

Thai organ donation center warns that selling kidneys to get an iPhone 14 is ‘unethical’

A meme claiming that three people with bloodied bandages on their abdomens sold their kidneys to purchase the latest Apple iPhone 14 has been condemned by a Thai doctor.

The executive director of the Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center, Dr Sophon Mekthon, issued a warning about the illegality of organ trading in Thailand and denounced the meme that had been going around since it appeared on Thai social media over the weekend.

“There is no organ trading. That is prohibited,” Mekthon said. “It is inappropriate to suggest selling organs, especially to get money to buy an iPhone. It is morally wrong and unethical.”

According to reports, the image came from a Vietnamese beauty parlour with a Laos base. It has subsequently been removed.

The image showed three persons with their abdomens exposed and bandaged, suggesting that each of them had sold one of their kidneys to pay for an iPhone 14.

The meme was allegedly taken as a joke in Laos, but when it appeared on social media on Saturday, users in Thailand took the image seriously. The joke and the message it conveys to young people have drawn criticism from several commenters.

A Chinese guy who sold his kidney in 2011 to purchase an iPhone 4 was later diagnosed with serious organ failure, according to a similar case that surfaced in 2019.

  • iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB available for pre-orders for nearly Rs7 lac

iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB available for pre-orders for nearly Rs7 lac

All of the iPhone 14 models are up for pre-order at Telemart, and the prices are the highest we’ve ever heard for a phone.

The 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max, which retails for a stunning Rs689,999, is currently the most expensive mobile offered in Pakistan. For that amount, you could purchase several brand-new motorcycles or even a pre-owned Suzuki Mehran.

The price of the entry-level iPhone 14 with 128GB of storage (the lowest model) is astronomical at Rs419,999.

These phones won’t be delivered to you until at least October because, as was already indicated, they are only available for pre-order at this time.

The spike in import duties, which also affected laptops, graphics cards, and other electronics in addition to cellphones, is to blame for the price increase. As a result, the starting price for the iPhone 14 Plus is Rs459,999, the starting price for the iPhone 14 Pro is Rs489,999, and the price for the Pro Max model is Rs529,999.

The price of the ‘cheapest’ iPhone 14 (base model) costs even more than the initial price of Rs370,000 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Apple honours Queen Elizabeth II by removing iPhone 14 from homepage of its official website

On Thursday, Apple changed the homepage in memory of Queen Elizabeth II. The Cupertino-based tech giant has added her photo and a tribute statement to its homepage in memory of her.

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, also offered his condolences to the citizens of the UK and the Commonwealth.

The longest reign of any British monarch was that of Queen Elizabeth II, who ruled for 70 years. She passed away at the age of 96.

Here’s how Apple’s landing page currently appears:

  • Apple wraps up iOS 16 development ahead of iPhone 14 event next month

Apple wraps up iOS 16 development ahead of iPhone 14 event next month

Apple engineers finished creating the first iteration of iOS 16 last week. This indicates that Apple will concentrate on fixing bugs in the last few weeks rather than adding any significant new features or modifications to the operating system.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reaffirmed in the most recent issue of his “Power On” newsletter that the release of iOS 16 and watchOS 9 together with the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models is scheduled for September, while he anticipates the release of iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura for October.

Apple engineers completed work on the iOS 16.0 update this past week, and it will be released in September along with watchOS 9. The new hardware will be compatible with such updates. However, due to Stage Manager-related delays to the iPad software, the updates to macOS Ventura and iPadOS are now planned for October to coincide with the new hardware lineup, said Gurman.

A configurable Lock Screen with widgets, the option to temporarily modify or unsend an iMessage, iCloud Shared Photo Library for sharing photos with family and friends, a redesigned Home app, and other features are among the major new features in iOS 16. On the majority of iPhones with a notch, Apple also reintroduced a battery % indication in the status bar.

The most recent public beta of iOS 16 from Apple has a new icon for the battery percentage. This makes determining the remaining battery life on an iPhone with Face ID easier: On the upper right of the display, inside the battery symbol, is the remaining percentage. Up until now, Face ID iPhones lacked a battery indicator, so you had to visit Control Center to see how much power was left in your device.

Especially if you have an iPhone with Face ID, one of the things you look at the most on your iPhone is the lock screen. The lock screen on the iPhone has undergone the biggest overhaul to date with iOS 16. Hold down the button to change your lock screen.

To test out numerous different looks, swipe. Each design modifies the typography and colour filter for the lock screen backdrop photo in order to make everything blend together. Similar to Google’s Material You, which debuted with Android 12, this has an Apple vibe to it.

Visual Look Up in iOS 15 can analyse your photographs and recognise objects like plants and animals. In contrast, iOS 16 enhances this feature. You can remove a photo’s subject from the background and add it to applications like Messages by touching it.

In essence, it’s a tap-and-hold tool that gets rid of the background of a picture. Although Apple occasionally overuses the word “magic” for this feature.
