Newlyweds Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain are currently in the process of setting up their marital abode and in a video posted to Iqra’s YouTube channel, the couple shows their fans and followers how they set up their living room to make it “Less house, more home.”
According to Iqra, “A room should feel collected not decorated.”
Iqra teased the vlog on Instagram with a one minute video.
We can see the bright colors on the walls, plants in the lounge and some very fascinating paintings, sculptures as well as a portrait of a famous poet Juan Elia in the living room.
Pakistani celebrity couple, Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz never hold back from showing their love for each other.
Recently, actor Yasir Hussain took to Instagram to praise his wife Iqra Aziz. The Ranjha Ranjha Kardi actor wore her late mother-in-law’s saree for a dinner.
Hussain shared a picture with the caption, “Apni marhooma saas ki Sari pehen k aap ne mera dil jeet lia. Iqra Aziz, love you. ” [You have won my heart by wearing your late mother-in-law’s saree. Love you, Iqra Aziz.]
Mehwish Hayat also praised the couple and commented, “MashaAllah” with a heart emoji.
The dinner was hosted by designer Nomi Ansari for the couple who tied the knot in December. Celebrities including Momal Sheikh, Ushna Shah and Ali Rehman Khan were also present. The couple thanked the designer for the dinner.
Meray Paas Tum Ho left some big shoes to fill. The Humayun Saeed-Ayeza Khan starrer received unprecedented success and was reported to be television’s highest-rated drama of all time. The serial wrapped up on January 25 and the next week on February 1, Iqra Aziz, Ahmed Ali Butt and Yasir Hussain’s Jhooti took over.
Much before its release, when the teasers of the drama were released, Jhooti had stirred up controversy for allegedly showing women in a bad light and portraying them as money-hungry, two-faced creatures and the first episode did nothing to change the perception.
The drama opened with the same-old storyline. Nirma’s (Iqra) parents want their daughter to get married and settle down. But the rebel daughter wants a better life for herself and doesn’t want to settle for the “useless” boys in her “poor” neighbourhood. She spends her days shouting or passing snide remarks to her family members. There are a lot of screaming sessions as Nirma clashes with her family over the rishtas that come for her. The only person who supports her is her father.
In comes Ahmed Ali Butt as Nasir, a simple man *yawn* madly in love with Nirma. He runs a small store in the neighbourhood and lives a fuss-free life. He comes over with his family with a rishta for Nirma. While Nirma herself rejects him by constantly calling him fat, her family thinks that he is a good choice for her. Eventually, Nirma’s partner in crime and equally vile friend advises her to marry Nasir only if he agrees to put his shop and house in her name. Interestingly Nasir’s parents agree to her condition and they come over to fix the date for the wedding when Nirma flips and tells them that she’s already rejected the proposal.
While the drama doesn’t appear to have anything new to offer as yet and is as regressive as it can get – I mean Nirma’s mother tells her that she cannot go to university because she needs to get married – the only department in which it excels is acting. Iqra has given a solid performance and you absolutely hate her at the end of the episode. The rest of the actors including Butt and Asma Abbas as Nirma’s mother put up commendable performances.
The drama has a bit of a negative vibe to it and reminds you of the over the top Star Plus sagas. But I’m going to watch a couple of more episodes before deciding whether the drama is worth watching or not.
Jhooti has been directed by Syed Ramish Rizvi and penned by Ali Moeen. It airs every Saturday at 8pm.
Iqra Aziz is returning to the silver screen with a new drama titled Jhooti. The drama also features her real-life beau Yasir Hussain as well as Ahmed Ali Butt, with whom she will be sharing the screen for the first time.
The trailer for the drama, directed by Ramish Rizvi, was released during Meray Paas Tum Ho‘s Episode 21 Saturday night. While the first teaser of the drama was intruiging as it showed Iqra playing a strong, resilient woman, the second teaser was the one which was problematic because it showed Iqra playing a woman who fakes being domestically abused. The teaser sparked outrage and drew the irk of netizens who took to social media to voice their frustation.
We’ve spent decades producing films/dramas which either vilify women or showed them as inferior to men. Entertainmemt media has the power to shape societal values. We need role models & survivors not “ibrat ke nishaans”. When you can reach millions, have the right message
First a drama on only the wife being disloyal which probably never happens here and then a drama on a girl faking abuse which is also a rarity. Pakistani dramas are really going places and so are the artists taking up these projects. Should totally boycott such shit shows https://t.co/aCjQ5c43FM
Irresponsible choice from ARY and Iqra Aziz. Such a storyline is not needed in a society where women are already not believed when they say they’ve been harassed/raped/beaten. I’m hoping there’s more to this drama than how it seems right now. Show ka naam bhi ‘jhooti’ hai ♀️ https://t.co/bt7t10W9KD
ARY’s Jhooti is not only a representation of deep culturally imbedded attitudes towards women, but it also gives me the feeling that they just ran with whatever script gives them edge and shock value – because presenting real stories of domestic violence is too “boring” right?
I believe teasers are meant to tease but this #Jhooti teaser is too problematic. Unless it’s a story of a girl who fakes bruises because no one would believe how abusive her husband/susral is otherwise or is a revenge story bringing abusers to justice, I don’t see any redemption.
While the actors or makers of the drama have not yet responded to the controversy, speaking to a local media outlet earlier, Ahmed had shared that Iqra is playing the role of a compulsive liar and that the plot will focus on her character and how everything and everyone gets affected by her behaviour.
After a whirlwind romance, a very public engagement and a low-key mayun and mehndi, Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain tied the knot in a beautiful afternoon wedding amidst their closest friends and family. Yasir gave his bride 4 tolas (10 grams) of gold as haq mehr.
Following the wedding celebrations, Yasir took to Instagram to advise his followers to keep their weddings simple and easy.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” wrote Yasir, “Marriage isn’t as hard as we’ve made it out to be.”
Sharing his own experience, Yasir elaborated, “I had originally planned to have my wedding at home but due to lack of space, I had to shift the venue. The two of us did not give each others families any unnecessary gifts. There was no dowry or bari (gift from the groom’s side to bride). We did not waste money on extra jewellery. The nikkah khwan (wedding officiant) was paid Rs 8000 while the food was according to the number of guests.”
“This is all that a wedding is – take it easy on your family and make weddings simple,” he asserted.

Yasir also expressed his joy on his marriage saying, ” I never knew that one signature would make my life so beautiful.”

Meanwhile, following the nikkah, Iqra took Yasir’s last name, changing her name from Iqra Aziz to Iqra Aziz Hussain.
The couple will be hosting their valima today (Monday).
After a whirlwind romance and a very public surprise engagement, mayun and mehndi Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain are now husband and wife. The two exchanged vows in a beautiful daytime wedding. Yasir gave his bride 4 tolas of gold as haq mehr.
Iqra looked regal in an all-red Nomi Ansari ensemble and makeup by Waqar Hussain, while Yasir donned a cream sherwani.
Sharing details about the dress, Nomi said, “Our most anticipated work this year was definitely this magnificent piece we customized for the lovely Iqra Aziz. Bringing the look we had in mind to life was a one-of-kind experience that we enjoyed thoroughly! For this distinct all-red look we decided on an old school lehnga choli done our way with plenty of glitz and magic. We loved creating this piece as much as Iqra is loving wearing it.”
Here are the two being their usual cute self at their photoshoot.

Though Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz had a full-blown public proposal, their wedding events have been pretty low-key in comparison. The couple’s wedding festivities began with a bright, yellow mayun followed by an intimate mehndi. The nikkah is on December 28, according to a card shared by the two on their social media.

After the proposal of the year, Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain are all set to have the wedding of the year.
According to the very fun and quirky wedding card shared by the couple on their respective social media handles, the two will be tying the knot on December 28 in an afternoon wedding. The official wedding hashtag is #IqYasirDaViyah.
Though we have no information about who is going to be on the guest list, but we’re assuming there are going to be A LOT of people from the industry.
Iqra and Yasir have been very public about their affection for one another and have almost always been spotted together. The two will also be appearing in two projects together: drama serial Jhooti and a feature film expected to release on Eid-ul-Fitr 2020.
