‘Play the whole season or don’t come’; Irfan Pathan throws tantrum over English players

India’s tantrums over English players leaving the IPL to play in their home series against Pakistan continue.

Former fast bowler Irfan Pathan is the latest prominent figure to use harsh language against the English cricketers who left the IPL unfinished.

Pathan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Either be available for the entire season or don’t come.”

Earlier, former Test cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also showed anger on the cricketers who left the IPL. He criticized the English cricketers and demanded a cut in their salaries and asked that fines should be imposed. In his column, Sunil Gavaskar wrote that because of IPL, they get 10 percent commission which no other league pays, if they are leaving IPL for the series, then the boards and players should be fined.

England’s top cricketers Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Will Jacks, Reece Topley, Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Moeen Ali, who participated in the IPL, left the league to represent their country against Pakistan.

The four-match series between Pakistan and England will start from May 22, while the finals, including the IPL playoffs, will be played during the same period, which will not include a large number of foreign cricketers.

‘No issue, lelo tissue’ : Irfan Pathan is fed up of Pakistani trolling

Former Indian all-rounder, Irfan Pathan has expressed anger at being trolled by Pakistani fans on Twitter.

Pathan, who regularly trolls Pakistani fans himself, became the target of trolling after India’s humiliating 209-run loss against Australia in the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 at the Oval Stadium, London.

It has been a decade since India last succeeded in winning an ICC event.

Pathan expressed his displeasure towards the Pakistan fans who flooded his social media timeline with celebrations of arch-rival India’s defeat.

The former pacer recalled his previous ‘GRACE’ tweet during last year’s ICC T20 World Cup and confidently asserted that his assessment of Pakistan fans was entirely accurate.

“Suddenly, all the padosi [neighbours] are entering my timeline with happiness cos team India lost the WTC FINAL. I was so right abt them..,” Pathan wrote.

Last year, after Pakistan successfully qualified for the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 by defeating New Zealand, Pathan strongly criticized their fans for their lack of “grace.”

Pakistani Twitter defends PM Shehbaz against former Irfan Pathan’s remarks

Former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan continues his Twitter tirade against Pakistan cricket fans after he turned his guns towards Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.

After the England team crushed Indians in the T20 World Cup semi-finals, the premier wrote an interesting tweet, writing, “So, this Sunday, it’s: 152/0 vs 170/0″, he said in reference to the scores of Pakistan and England against Indian cricket team in T20 World Cups of 2021 and 2022, respectively. Both teams defeated India without losing a single wicket.

But the premier’s tweet didn’t sit well with Indian cricket fans. Replying to PM Shehbaz’s tweet, on the eve of World Cup final, Pathan said, “Aap mein or hum mein fark yehi hai. Hum apni khushi se khush or aap dusre ke taklif se. Is liye khud ke mulk ko behtar karne pe dhyan nahi hai.” (This is the difference between you and us. We are satisfied with our happiness, while you look for happiness when others are in trouble. That is why you are not concentrating on your country’s well-being).

Pathan, who has criticised Pakistan’s cricket team and fans in the past, was taken to task by Twitterati with many of them calling him a “hypocrite”.

Earlier, the Indian bowler came under fire after he cracked a joke at the expense of the Pakistani cricket team during the ongoing T20 World Cup taking place in Australia.

On Wednesday, when Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets and booked a place for themselves in the final of the tournament, Pathan tweeted that while Pakistan won the match, they still have no “grace”.

After receiving the backlash, Irfan tweeted again and clarified that his comment was not meant for Pakistani players.

‘Pakistan definitely out-bowled, out-batted and out-fielded New Zealand’: Former Indian captain Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble, a former captain of India, said on ESPNcricinfos T20 Time Out show that Pakistan “definitely out-bowled New Zealand, they out-batted New Zealand, but most importantly, they out-fielded New Zealand, which is very, very rare.”

Tom Moody, a former all-rounder for Australia, picked up a specific moment during New Zealand’s powerplay that was a reflection of Pakistan’s level of dedication on Wednesday.

“The tone for me was set with one piece of fielding,” Moody said. “And it’s not the run-out. It’s before the run-out [of Devon Conway]. It was by Shadab [Khan], who was at mid-on, dived and stopped the ball from going for four.

“Kane Williamson played a beautiful on-drive, a straight on-drive, and he [Shadab] saved two runs. And that to me set the tone for the way they were going to operate as a team. You talk about body language but you need moments like that to lift the unit and that’s the standard that he basically said ‘this is the standard we are going to set today.”

New Zealand was limited to 38 for 2 on the powerplay as a result of Pakistan’s outstanding fielding in the circle. Shadab’s straight shot to run out Conway produced the second wicket. Pakistan eventually managed to restrict New Zealand to 152 for 8, winning with seven wickets and five balls remaining.

Kumble applauded Haris’ contribution to the match, which includes his 89 runs with a strike rate of 161.81 since joining the team to fill in for Fakhar Zaman.

“Looking at him [Haris], he looks like a free spirit,” Kumble said. “He’s not bothered about getting his eye in or what if the first ball he gets out. That’s what you want in a T20 game.”

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson said that “We were put under pressure early, they bowled really well and it was thanks to an unbelievable knock from Daryl Mitchell that we got some momentum back.

“At halfway, we thought it was a competitive total because we knew the pitch was a used surface, it was tough.

“But it’s really disappointing to not make Pakistan work harder for those runs, they were absolutely outstanding today and credit has to go to them.”

In the meantime, Shoaib Akhtar, a Pakistani fast bowler, was also overjoyed with Pakistan’s victory.

Former South African allrounder Vernon Philander joined in congratulating Pakistan for making it into the final.

Wasim Akram added his congratulations to those on the side of Pakistani team.

Irfan Pathan, an Indian all-rounder, sent a message as well, praising the Pakistani team for overcoming a near-certain elimination from the competition to reach the final.
