    Foreigners’ security cell to be established in Islamabad

    Islamabad police is establishing a foreigners’ security cell in the Central Police Office (CPO), with the required personnel and logistics.

    Under the supervision of DIG Operations, the District Foreign Security Cell (DFSC) will be led by Additional Superintendent Operations.

    It was decided at a meeting in the Central Police Office presided over by Inspector General of Police Dr Akbar Nasir Khan. Senior police officers from Islamabad were in attendance. On the pattern of CPEC Security, it was decided to apply all standard operating procedures for non-China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) security projects.

    Correspondingly, the Special Branch, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Security Division will conduct regular audits of the security measures. Islamabad police will employ Chinese-speaking early age Pakistani men and women to aid Chinese residents working on non-CPEC projects and for other private companies.

    The session was notified that efforts are being made to protect foreign nationals in compliance with Ministry of Interior directives. The Foreign Office and other law enforcement agencies will be consulted as needed. While the National Database Registration Authority will assist DFSC in data integration.

    The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) recently fined numerous motorists for wrong parking in order to maintain a smooth flow of traffic in the federal capital.

    The SSP Traffic Syed Mustafa Tanveer instructed all Zonal DSPs to guarantee traffic law enforcement through a courteous attitude toward citizens. He advised that motorists should be treated equally and informed officials about traffic laws.

    Furthermore, the SSP Traffic asserted that only pedestrians had the right to use the footpath and that no parking would be permitted there. He was of the view that vehicles should be parked in designated areas of shopping malls while an awareness campaign to educate citizens visiting the malls was underway.

    The number of vehicles in the federal capital has increased drastically in recent years, impeding transportation.

    Police conduct search operation around IK’s residence

    Islamabad Police conducted a search operation around former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala on Saturday after death threats to him.

    According to Geo News, a heavy force of police, including the bomb disposal squad, conducted the operation. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers staying around Bani Gala came out of their tents and started shouting slogans against the current government.

    In Karachi, the police raided PTI Member of National Assembly (MNA) Alamgir Khan’s house in his absence on Saturday. Following this episode, PTI leaders reached Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station and submitted an application against it.

    Former federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi said that the Sindh police has become a “military wing of PPP”. He added that the police should besiege the Chief Minister’s House if they wanted to arrest the culprits.

    Islamabad Traffic Police intensifies crackdown against wrong parking

    In an attempt to minimise congestion, the Islamabad Traffic Police is elevating action against vehicles that are parked incorrectly in order to maintain a smooth flow of traffic in the federal capital.

    Islamabad Traffic Police reviewed measures to guarantee smooth traffic flow in the city, as directed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal. During this campaign, a considerable number of automobiles were also challaned for improper parking.

    The SSP Traffic ordered all Zonal DSPs to assure that traffic laws are followed by the motorists. He advised that individuals be treated with respect and informed them about driving laws.

    The SSP Traffic remarked that pedestrians have the right to use the walkway and that parking will not be permitted there.

    He stated that automobiles should be parked in designated areas at shopping centres, and that a public awareness campaign has been initiated to educate consumers who come to shop.

    Rai Mazhar Iqbal stated that it is our top responsibility to ensure the convenience for residents and road users by preserving traffic discipline, and that every effort will be made to achieve this goal.

    SSP Traffic also presented certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to the officers and men who played their best role in the convenience and convenience of the citizens. According to ITP good performance will be encouraged while departmental action will be taken against those who show negligence.

    Islamabad Police issues traffic plan for OIC summit

    Islamabad Police has issued a complete traffic plan from March 21-March 24 for the 48th session of the Organisation of Islamic Council (OIC) summit. It is set to begin in the federal capital on March 22.

    The Red Zone will be closed for the general public from March 21 to March 24.

    According to a spokesperson of traffic police, Serena Chowk, State Bank Chowk, Express Chowk and Ayyub Chowk will be closed for normal traffic. People are advised to use Margalla Road for entry and exit from the Red Zone. Only those people can enter the Red Zone who have special permits.

    In another tweet, Islamabad Police said, “Due to movements of foreign delegations arriving for OIC Conference, short term unannounced diversions may be observed at Srinagar Highway, Murree Road, and Islamabad Expressway. Therefore, keep margin time of 20 to 30 minutes while travelling to avoid delays.”

  • Pakistan apologises to North Korea Embassy after police-conducted raid

    Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has officially made an apology to North Korea after Islamabad police conducted a raid on the embassy on Monday evening.

    During a press conference on Thursday, Sheikh Rasheed said that incident happened due to some misunderstanding.

    He said, “We have apologised [to the North Korean mission, the incident had] happened out of misunderstanding.”

    According to Geo, the embassy has issued a letter to the Foreign Office and Inspector General of Police-Islamabad in which it stated that the police entered the embassy premises around 5 pm on Monday from the back door. They also threatened and harassed the staff. Police searched the storeroom at gunpoint when staff tried to stop them.

    The letter read, “The mission staff reminded them that premises are the embassy exercising the inviolable sovereign territory of DPR Korea and asked them to immediately stop this brutal act against the embassy.”

    According to the letter, the police also damaged property.

    Foreign Office spokesperson said in response, “They have also been informed that they cannot perform such a raid next time without having clearance from the Foreign Office.”

    Islamabad police spokesperson also apologised for the violation of the Vienna convention and will question the security personnel who were involved in the incident.

    He said, “We apologise for entering the embassy.” Police raided the North Korean embassy after receiving reports of having a large number of alcohol bottles on their premises.

    Noor Mukadam’s father records statement in court, wants death for Zahir Jaffer

    Noor Mukadam’s father Shaukat Ali Mukadam has demanded capital punishment for the murderer of his daughter Zahir Jaffer. Mukadam, recorded his statement today in an Islamabad court.

    During today’s hearing Noor’s father said that he did not have a “personal enmity” with anyone. “My daughter was unjustly killed”, he added.

    “Zahir Jaffer should be given a death sentence,” he said. During his statement, he recalled the events leading to Noor’s death. He said that he and his wife had left for some work on July 19 and when he returned back to the house, Noor was not there.

    “[On] July 20 — I know Zahir’s family — Zahir called me on two numbers in the afternoon and said Noor was not with him,” he stated. He further added that later in the day at 10pm he got a call from the Kohsar police station informing him that his daughter had been killed and asking him to visit the police station.

    He went on to add that after the call he went to the police station and then went to Zahir’s house where he saw Noor’s body. He told the court that he signed a statement with Assistant Sub-Inspector Zubair Mazhar after identifying Noor’s body. He later signed off on a report on the cause of death. Shaukat added he had handed over Noor’s body for postmortem on July 21.

    Noor Mukadam was brutally murdered at a residence in Islamabad’s upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20. Her death sparked national outrage, including protests and candlelight vigils across the country.

    Rawalpindi police has taken notice of the repeated incidents of blocking of roads in Murree by people throwing snow. Capital City Policer Officer (CCPO) has taken the notice of a complaint registered by a citizen and has ordered relevant authorities to take action against the people involved. Further investigations are underway.

    Earlier, Journalist Hamid Mir posted a video of a person narrating how some locals of Murree throw snow on the roads on purpose. They then demand money from the tourists in return of clearing the roads.

    Zahir Jaffer refuses legal representation in Noor Mukadam case

    Zahir Jaffer, the prime accused in the Noor Mukadam murder case, has refused to sign the power of attorney during the hearing of the Noor Mukadam murder case, Urdu News has reported.

    Zahir Jaffer refused to authorise Amjad as his attorney, saying: “He is not my lawyer. I won’t sign. My lawyer is Babar, who is a barrister [and] he is coming.” After which the judge remarked that his signature should now be secured at the jail. Earlier, Zahir had refused to accept a public prosecutor recommended by the court.

    Earlier, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Sunday issued a notice to TV channels asking them to stop broadcasting CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam.

    The CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam from the house of Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect in her murder has been making rounds on social media from last few days.

    Noor was found murdered at a residence in Islamabad’s upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20. Her death sparked national outrage, including protests and candlelight vigils across the country.

    TV Anchor’s ‘drunk’ son arrested for harrasing college staff, students

    Four persons were arrested on Saturday on allegations of harassment and threatening employees and students in a college in Islamabad, including the son of a well-known journalist/TV presenter, Dawn News has reported.

    The complaint was lodged by Dr Asad Faiz, the principal of Islamabad Model College for Boys F-11/3 in response to which a case was registered under section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person otherwise than on grave provocation), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 542 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

    Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Zone Nosherwan Ali that police received a call that a Vigo was harassing a girl at F-11 Markaz and around 9 am the police received another call that said some people had entered Islamabad Model College for Boys F-11/3 and were beating the staff and students. Police arrested four people from F13. As per the police, the accused people were drunk at the time of the arrest.
