  • Zahir Jaffer saw patients at Therapy Works, witness comes forward

    Therapy works has denied allegations that Zahir Jaffer, the alleged killer of Noor Mukadam, was seeing clients at the Therapy Works office. Samaa News has reported that a woman has came forward with details contradicting their claims.

    She shared screenshots with Samaa Digital that in 2019, she had taken someone to Therapy Works to receive therapy from Zahir Jaffer. She also shared a screenshot of conversation she had with Zahir to book an appointment.

    According to a statement released by Therapy Works, “Zahir Jaffer was enrolled as a student in UK Level 3 from September 2015 to September 2016. After this he joined UK Level 4 from October 2016 to June 2018. He did not complete his coursework and International Essays, and accordingly was never given permission to see clients,” said the statement. But the woman’s screenshot and claim shows otherwise.

    As per Samaa, “Therapy Works had posted on its Instagram a picture of its UK Level 5 candidates and the group included Zahir Jaffer. They have deleted the picture now, but social media users took a screenshot of it.”

    While Therapy Works has responded to the allegation that Zahir was a practicing therapist, The Current reached out to them asking for a response to the allegations that they were involved in the incident. We are still waiting for a response.

  • Zahir called his parents before the murder and told them that Noor has refused to marry him

    Parents of Zahir Jaffer, the alleged killer of Noor Mukadam were presented in a local court in Islamabad on Sunday along with the other two suspects.

    Azaz Syed a local reporter who was present in the court while speaking to The Current shared details about the latest development in Noor Mukadam’s case. Zahir Jaffer’s father Zakir told Azaz that he condemns the incident and he paid his condolences to the family of the girl saying that he knows Noor’s family personally and he is saddened over what has happened and that he wants to see justice.

    Azaz further told that the Lawyer of Zahir’s parents told the court that they were in Karachi when they came to know about the ‘crime’.

    Azaz also told The Current that the public prosecutor told the court that Zahir called his parents before the murder and told them that Noor has refused to marry him.

    Islamabad police, on Saturday night, arrested the parents of alleged killer Zahir Jaffer, Zaqir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee for hiding evidence and abetting the murder. The court gave the police a two-day remand for the parents of Zahir Jaffer and they are to remain in police custody.

    Meanwhile, TherapyWorks, the counselling company which came to Zahir’s aid on his father’s request, has been sealed in Islamabad by the police.

    While being taken to court in police custody, alleged killer Zahir Jaffer’s father, Zakir Jaffer spoke to the reporters present. He said, “I condemn the murder, it is a heinous crime, I sympathize with the Mukadam family its a very tragic incident and I would personally like to make a request to Mr Mukadam because I know him personally, and my family knew the girl socially as well…it’s a very heinous crime and I would like justice to prevail”.

    When the same reporter asked him about how he found about about the incident, Zakir replied, “that is a very long story.”

    The mother of Zahir Jaffer, Asmat Adamjee did not speak to the media present and walked with the police with her face fully covered.

    The court gave the police a two-day remand for the parents of Zahir Jaffer and they are to remain in police custody.

  • Noor Mukadam was beheaded after stabbed to death: post mortem report

    Contrary to previous reports which stated that Noor Mukadam, 27, was shot and then beheaded, her post mortem report states that she was stabbed several times and then beheaded.

    According to Samaa TV , the post mortem report reveals that the victim was assaulted, stabbed and after she died, she was beheaded.

    The incident took place on July 20 in F-7/4 in Islamabad, reportedly at the residence of Zahir Jaffer, who was arrested for Noor’s murder.

    A case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code has been registered against the suspect at the Kohsar Police Station.

    A special team has been created to investigate the case and the police has recommended that Zahir be placed on the Exit Control List.

    “InshaAllah justice will be served in this case…no one will be allowed to leave the country and people will see justice be served. There is no one more powerful in Pakistan than the law,” PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry said.

  • Former diplomat’s daughter killed and then beheaded in Islamabad

    The daughter of a former diplomat was killed yesterday in the capital. According to details, the police said the victim was slaughtered after being shot. Another person was also injured in the incident, Dawn News has reported.

    “A friend of the girl had been arrested over his alleged involvement in the murder,” police said, “the alleged killer is a son of leading businessman.”

    “A man named Zahir Jaffer, who was allegedly involved in the murder, was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station,” the Islamabad police tweeted.

    According to The Current’s sources, the alleged murderer, Zahir Jaffer was working in his family business and had been left alone in the city during the Eid holidays. A college dropout, Zahir’s friends have suggested that he was an active drug user.

    People on social media are demanding justice by using the hashtag #JusticeForNoor, with her friends lamenting the death of a person who seems to be “one of kindest humans….compassionate, smiling, offering her little unique gestures of kindness”.

    A video went viral on social media last night where a man, Usman Mirza, was seen torturing, harassing, and assaulting a young couple in Islamabad along with his accomplices. Mirza was arrested after the video went viral in which he can also be seen stripping a woman. His accomplices have also been arrested.

    Pakistani Twitter was outraged at the horrific video. One Twitter user pointed out that it took the video to go viral on social media for the man to be arrested months after the incident.

    Another Twitter user said that “absolutely nothing offers women safety”.

    Daanika Kamal said it does not matter where you are or who you are with. “Imagine living with an underlying sense of threat or fear all the time.”

    Fakhr-e-Alam escapes fatal accident

    Television host and actor Fakhar-e-Alam has escaped a fatal car accident unhurt.

    Sharing the horrific experience on social media, Alam said: “Without question, Allah is the greatest protector of them all. I have just survived what could have been easily a fatal accident while on my [way] to to Hum News Pakistan for filming.”

    “These trucks become killing machines in the hands of unlicensed drivers,” said Alam further, adding that Islamabad Capital Territory Police is handling the case.

    Later, in a series of tweets, the 45-year-old actor detailed the entire incident.

    “It was a close call to what would have been most certainly a fatal accident. This milk truck from Chiniot without indication made a U-turn from the far out lane forcing our vehicle to take evasive measure missing the truck, hitting the divider and ending up on the other side,” said Alam.

    “Once tossed to the other side we narrowly missed oncoming traffic,” he shared further. “The fact that the driver and I have walked away alive is nothing short of a miracle. These truck operators without proper training are allowed on our roads endangering all of us and our loved ones.”

    “I am grateful to Allah that I will once again get to see my children but there are many who have never returned home because of extremely poor road safety & dangerous drivers. Tonight I followed up with Islamabad Police to do whatever was possible legally to stop this driver,” Alam added.

    Alam shared that the traffic warden, who was an eye witness stated that the truck driver was wrong. “The driver had no ID card, no license. All I want is for Islamabad Police to make sure he never drives again & endanger anyone else’s life. He wrote a confession & maafinama, I just don’t want any family to be a victim of his,” Alam said.

    He also urged people to report such drivers, saying: “Please report dangerous drivers, please wear a belt, it saved my life today and above all the law enforcement must not allow for such irresponsible people to drive on our roads. The truck is now at Aabpara police station. What happens next we will all be watching.”

    Alam is recently in Islamabad, filming a project with Hum News/Hum Network.

    Meanwhile, in one of his tweets, Alam had revealed that he will be sharing studios with five gold medalists of Cambrian Patrol Britain, world’s toughest & largest military competition with 140 teams each year.

    He said: “I will be bringing you the story of this league of extra ordinary gentlemen very soon with Hum Network.”

    According to him, this will be a “very special project” and “a big filming project,” presumably airing on Hum News/Hum Network.

    ‘Islamabad police receives 2,700 fake calls daily’

    The Islamabad police receives approximately 2,700 fake calls daily because of which the police response system is being badly affected, Inspector-General Qazi Jamil ur Rehman has said.

    The police chief appealed to the masses to avoid making hoax calls as it may put someone’s life in danger.

    “If we are sent to a hoax call, it means we’re not available when someone really needs our help. It could be a matter of life or death,” said the IG in a statement.

    He said that police emergency department 15 plays an important role in receiving and transmitting calls from the public.

    However, the fake calls not only waste the time of the operator but may cause a delay in responding to an emergency situation.

    The IG directed 15 authorities to book frequent callers and proceed with legal action against them.

    SMS alert service launched

    Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has taken several initiatives like issuance of smart driving licenses, online appointment system, SMS alert service for the convenience of motorists, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farrukh Rashid announced.

    The ITP also revealed that over Rs20 million fine was collected from drivers by issuing as many as 73,609 challans over various traffic violations during the ongoing year. Some 1,420 were ticketed against over-speeding, 2,767 for tinted glasses, 566 for illegal lights, 2,590 for lane violation, 8,816 for not using a helmet and 3,150 for not fastening their seat belt. Similarly, 1,831 people were fined for using mobile phones while driving, 737 over wrong parking and 3,136 were charged for using fancy number plates.

    Earlier, PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan had also shared a picture of himself getting fined by the police for not wearing a seatbelt.

  • Banigala police station staff removed on PM’s complaint

    At least 20 police officials, excluding the station house officer, of Banigala police station were removed by the Islamabad police chief after a complaint by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    According to Dawn, there were several complaints against the staff of the police station. The cops were reportedly involved in facilitating land grabbers, drug dealers, and taking money from vehicles transporting construction material.

    In addition to over a dozen staffers, three sub-inspectors and three assistant sub-inspectors were also among the officials removed over misconduct.

    The development followed days after Islamabad IG Qazi Jamilur Rehman called on the PM. During their meeting, the PM had told the IG that the Banigala policemen extorted money from a truck driver. The driver was traced and but he couldn’t identify the policemen who extorted money from him.

    According to the newspaper, Banigala and three other police stations were declared Model Subdivision in Sept 2019 in line with the PM’s vision of the police reforms.

    As per the reforms aimed at effective administration of the police stations, assistant superintendents of police would work as station house officer for effective administration.

  • Usama Satti killing: Probe finds counter-terror cops guilty

    A judicial inquiry into the killing of Rawalpindi youth Usama Satti by the five officials of the Anti-Terrorism Squad has found the policemen guilty and asked the authorities to use the Anti-Terrorism Act against the cops.

    Constable Muhammad Mustafa, Superintendent Hafiz Ikhtikar Ahmed, Constable Mudassar Mukhtiar, Constable Shakeel Ahmed, and Constable Saeed Ahmed gunned down Satti in an alleged car chase. They fired 17 bullets at the car, most of which hit the upper body of the slain student.

    The inquiry report also pointed out the “carelessness” of the police high-ups and ordered an investigation against the SP and DSP of the capital police.

    The report prepared by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rana Muhammad Waqas said that officers should be appointed on the basis of their mental health in addition to the physical prowess.

    “The system of police monitoring is weak,” it revealed, adding that the inspector general should improve the technology being used by the police. It further said that the ATS officials shouldn’t be allowed to work with the police without prior permission.

    Last week, at least five officials of Islamabad Police were arrested after they gunned down 21-year-old Usama Satti in cold blood in G-10 sector in the federal capital.

    The policemen who belonged to the Anti-Terrorism Squad fired bullets from the front and hit the youth mostly on the face and upper body. No weapons etc were discovered from the boy’s car.

    A source in the capital police had said that the ATS officials and the youth had an argument on New Year’s Eve when the police officials stopped his vehicle for checking. The source had claimed that the police officials stopped the guy even though they were off-duty at the time.

    This altercation between the cops and the youth may have resulted in this killing, the source claimed.
