Jennifer Lopez slays TIFF red carpet as she unveils ‘Unstoppable’

Jennifer Lopez infused the Toronto film festival with a dose of A-list glamour Friday at the world premiere of her new movie, true-story sports drama “Unstoppable,” which earned a rousing ovation.

The 55-year-old actress, singer and dancer was making her first red carpet appearance since the announcement of her divorce from Ben Affleck, who co-produced the film with best friend Matt Damon but was not in attendance.

And she did not disappoint, wearing a skin-baring metallic silver gown with seemingly nothing but giant black velvet bows holding it together, her hair long and loose. Sky-high silver platform heels finished the look.

In “Unstoppable,” Lopez plays Judy, the mother of high school wrestler Anthony Robles (Jharrel Jerome) who, though born with only one leg, doggedly pursued — and achieved — his dream of becoming a US university champion.

Oscar nominee Don Cheadle and Michael Pena play his demanding coaches, and Bobby Cannavale plays his abusive stepfather, who repeatedly puts the family in jeopardy.

“Unstoppable” tells Robles’s inspiring story while also delving into the difficulties of his family life, and showcasing his close relationship with his mother.

The film had several applause moments in the buildup to Robles’s winning run to a college championship for Arizona State University. Then, as the credits rolled, Robles himself, in the theater, earned a standing ovation from the crowd at Roy Thomson Hall.

“When I read the script, I felt like so many women, including myself, could relate to the struggles that she had gone through in her life,” Lopez said in a question-and-answer session after the screening.

“This story being a Latino story, being so inspiring — it was just something that kind of grabbed me.”

Jerome said he trained for five months, including with Robles on the wrestling mat.

“As an actor, it is one of the most daunting tasks to portray somebody that is real,” he said.

“Unstoppable” was one of the marquee events of day two at the Toronto International Film Festival, the largest in North America, which offers a mix of Oscar-bait movies, feel-good family fare and searing documentaries.

This year marks a return to normal for the event, after twin strikes by actors and writers kept top talent from promoting their work here last year.

Lopez is just one of the major stars visiting Canada’s biggest city for the festival.

Ben Stiller, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry hit the red carpet on Thursday night. Also expected are Angelina Jolie, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Salma Hayek, Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman.

    – ‘The Last Showgirl’ –

Earlier, Gia Coppola debuted her latest effort behind the camera, “The Last Showgirl,” starring Pamela Anderson as veteran Vegas performer Shelley, who is left in despair when her show is abruptly canceled.

After a 30-year run dancing half-naked in sequins and high heels in a traditional Sin City show, Shelley must figure out what the future holds.

Coppola — the granddaughter of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola — goes beyond the bright lights of America’s favorite gambling playground to show the harsh realities of the entertainment industry and what happens to those it discards, especially women.

“I think I’ve been getting ready my whole life for this role,” Anderson told the audience after the screening.

The “Baywatch” actress quipped that it was the first time she’d been offered a script that was “coherent.”

Jamie Lee Curtis teared up as she spoke about the film. She plays Annette, a onetime dancer and Shelley’s best friend who ends up waitressing to make ends meet — and frittering away her hard-won earnings on bets.

“It’s a movie about dreams and going after your dreams,” only to discover they may never be realized, said the Oscar winner.

Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck divorce after two years of marriage

Hollywood singer Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from actor Ben Affleck after two years of marriage, ending weeks of speculation of the fairytale romance ending.

The duo, affectionately called ‘Bennifer’, have had a whirlwind relationship since the early 2000s, when they became engaged after Affleck gave Lopez an engagement ring featuring a 6.1-carat pink diamond.
However, in 2003, the couple announced their separation. They both married other partners and had children.

The two rekindled their relationship in 2021 and got married in July 2022 in Las Vegas.

Hollywood couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are in the news again, this time for buying fancy houses. The power couple are looking for a house in New York city.

Indian media reports the pair own a huge mansion is Los Angeles’ Beverly Hills, which used to belong to Indian business leaders Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal. The mansion is massive, covering 38,000 square feet. It has 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, and lots of fancy things like an indoor pickleball court, gym, salon, spas, and a 155-foot-long infinity pool. Outside, there’s a kitchen and big lawns, great for throwing fancy parties.

Jennifer and Ben supposedly bought the Los Angeles mansion last June for a whopping $61 million (about INR5 billion). Before this, Ben had a house in Pacific Palisades that he sold for $28.5 million in 2022. Jennifer also sold her Bel-Air estate for $34 million last October.

It’s interesting that the Los Angeles mansion meant a lot to its old owners, Isha and Anand. They got married in 2018 and spent a lot of time there when Isha was pregnant in 2022. They had their twins, Krishna and Aditya, in November of that year.

The Los Angeles mansion holds special memories for the Ambani-Piramal family, but Jennifer and Ben are ready to make new ones in their fancy new home. As they look for a house in New York City, fans are excited to see where they’ll live next. This marks another exciting chapter for one of Hollywood’s most famous couples.

Ben and Jennifer, known affectionately as Bennifer, started dating in the early 2000s. They got engaged but broke up. More than twenty years later, during the pandemic, they got back together and got married in 2022.

Love conquers: Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck tie the knot in Las Vegas

Singer Jennifer Lopez and actor Ben Affleck are now married, a year after rekindling their romance.

The duo obtained a license to get married in Las Vegas, a local official said Sunday. The marriage license was issued by Clark County in the state of Nevada dated Saturday, July 16, according to document details posted online by the county clerk’s office.

“I can confirm that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez obtained a married license last night, but their marriage certificate has not yet been filed,” she said in a statement to Reuters.

Celebrity website TMZ and People Magazine, among other outlets, reported the Affleck and Lopez had wed. People Magazine, citing a source, said the couple had married during a small, private ceremony.

Affleck and Lopez, a glamorous duo widely known as “Bennifer,” got back together last year after almost 20 years. They got engaged in April of this year.

In 2002 Affleck gave Lopez a large 6.1-carat pink diamond engagement ring, but they abruptly called off their wedding in 2003 and split up a few months later.

In her first Instagram post since the report of her marriage surfaced, the Lopez posted her picture with a cryptic post.

Lopez confirmed her marriage to Ben Affleck in her “On The JLo” newsletter and shares multiple pictures of the ceremony.

“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” the “Marry Me” actress began as she gushed over her nuptials.

Calling the Vegas ceremony “Exactly what we wanted,” the star detailed their trip down the aisle.

“Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple who made the three hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday—all of us wanting the same thing— for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.

“We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight,” she revealed. “They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).”

Lopez added that she wore “a dress from an old movie” as they exchanged vows in the “little chapel” and “gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives.”

Both Lopez and Affleck were seen in two films together, 2003 romantic comedy Gigli and 2004’s Jersey Girl. According to Variety, the pair has ever since then dubbed as “Bennifer” by tabloids that briefly followed their relationship. In those two decades away from each other, Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, got married to different partners — Marc Anthony for the Maid in Manhattan actor and Jennifer Garner for Affleck — but they both got divorced.

Affleck won an Oscar for producing film Argo while Lopez made a fortune as a judge for music show American Idol and acting in movies while also releasing music. Just a year ago the pair found themselves back together after Lopez split with ex fiancé Alex Rodriguez after being together for four years.

Ever since the couple has rekindled their romance, Twitter has been cheering on their reunion as they made series of red carpet appearances together be it the Venice Film Festival or film premieres for The Last Duel or Marry Me, Lopez’s latest romantic comedy starring Owen Wilson and singer Maluma.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck confirm patch-up speculation by kissing publicly

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have given their fans and the media the much awaited confirmation of their romantic patch-up.

Rumour mills were buzzing that the couple reunited in May after they were spotted holidaying together in Montana.

Now, in a video shared by Page Six, the couple can been seen nuzzling each other’s necks and sharing kisses in public during their romantic getaway in Malibu.

In the early 2000s, Lopez and Affleck were one of Hollywood’s most famous couples. They regularly made headlines after a high-profile engagement in 2002 and also collaborated on feature films such as Jersey Girl and Gigli.

Their relationship came to an end in January 2004, shortly after they postponed their wedding.

Affleck went on to marry Jennifer Garner which ended up in divorce, while Lopez recently announced her separation from fiancé Alex Rodriguez.

The couple has been spotted at various locations over the last few weeks.

  • Matt Damon is rooting for ‘Bennifer’ reunion

Matt Damon is rooting for ‘Bennifer’ reunion

Matt Damon has said that it would be “awesome” if his best friend Ben Affleck and his ex-beau Jennifer Lopez are really back together.

When asked on the Today show about Ben and Lopez’s latest photographs, Damon at first said: “There’s not enough liquor in the world for you to get me to say something about that.”

However, he later admitted that like the rest of the world, he too, would love to see the exes give their relationship a chance again.

“I love them both,” said the Oscar winner. “I hope it’s true. That would be awesome.”

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail published photos which showed Affleck, 48, and Lopez, 51, heading to the airport in Montana together and then arriving in Los Angeles. According to details, the two celebrities — who broke off their very public engagement back in 2004 — attended a party together at a luxury ski resort in Montana. It is believed that Affleck owns a chalet there. Reports have also claimed that the two spent “about a week” together at the club and “were alone” during their stay.

While it was earlier reported that the two were just reconnecting as old friends after Lopez’s recent breakup with Alex Rodriguez, the Montana trip has sparked rumours that the two are perhaps more than “just friends”. It has been reported that the two reconnected over email when Affleck reached out to J Lo while she was in the Dominican Republic, writing that she looked beautiful in her recent photographs for Shotgun Wedding. The pair reportedly continued communications over the next couple of weeks.

Affleck and Lopez were engaged in 2002 and dubbed “Bennifer.” Their relationship appeared to hit the rocks in 2003 when they postponed their wedding and ultimately broke up in January 2004. After their split, Lopez married Marc Anthony in 2004 with the couple welcoming twins in 2008. On the other hand, Affleck married Garner in 2005 and the two welcomed three children together. Lopez later divorced Anthony in 2014, while Affleck and Garner divorced in 2018.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez is said to be “shocked” with Lopez and Affleck’s photographs, as he reportedly believed that he and Lopez would get back together after a break.

“A-Rod is shocked that J Lo has moved on,” reported E! News. “He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect. He has been reaching out to J Lo trying to meet with her and she has been very short with him.”

The report, quoting a source, further said that Rodriguez is “saddened” by Lopez’s vacation with Affleck, so much so that he’s reached out to her to let her know “he’s upset.”

However, Jennifer is “not interested in rekindling anything with A-Rod and is done”.

Is ‘Bennifer’ back after seventeen years?

Jennifer Lopez, who recently called off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez after four years together, was spotted hanging out with ex-beau Ben Affleck. Lopez and Affleck dated from 2002 to 2004 and their relationship also ended with a broken engagement.

According to reports, the couple formerly known as ‘Bennifer,’ spent an entire week in Los Angeles. Despite having split up for more than seventeen years, the duo was spotted spending time together at Lopez’s LA mansion. The Oscar winner was photographed multiple times going to J Lo’s California home during the day after having been picked up in a white Escalade SUV that allegedly belongs to Lopez.

While the pair have not been spotted together, Page Six reported that “security picks him [Affleck] up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house.”

“They have spent time together in L.A. over the past week,” reported People Magazine. “They have a lot of love for each other. They have always admired each other.”

Meanwhile, an insider reportedly shut down rumours of a rekindling romance, saying that the duo have “always been friends and they have seen each other through the years.”

Affleck and Lopez were engaged in 2002 but they postponed their wedding in 2003. They split months later in January 2004. Lopez called her breakup with Affleck “probably my first big heartbreak.”

It has also been reported that J Lo has been seeing famous friends after her breakup with Rodriguez. She allegedly also met up with another ex Marc Anthony.

‘We are better as friends’: J.Lo, Alex Rodriguez call off engagement

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and former New York Yankees baseball star Alex Rodriguez called off their engagement because “we are better as friends.” The former couple announced their breakup on Thursday just months after denying their four-year relationship was on the rocks.

“We have realised we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” Lopez, 51, also known by her nickname J.Lo, and Rodriguez, 45, known as A-Rod, said in a joint statement.

“We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects,” said Lopez and Rodriguez.

    JLo Alex Engagement

One of the biggest celebrity couples in the United States for the past four years and sometimes known in the media as J-Rod, Lopez and Rodriguez said they would largely remain mum about the split out of respect for their children from previous relationships.

“We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support,” Lopez and Rodriguez said.

In March, they denied reports they had split, saying they were “working through some things.” At the time, several reports citing unidentified sources close to the couple had claimed that the pair had called off their engagement.

Rodriguez and the Love Don’t Cost a Thing singer, who sang at US President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January, began dating in early 2017 and announced their engagement in March 2019.

Late last year, Lopez said the couple had postponed their wedding twice because of the pandemic.

Lopez began her career as a dancer and a singer and produced and starred in the 2019 movie Hustlers. She has appeared in other movies and on television, including The Boy Next Door, which has been trending in the Top Ten on Netflix Pakistan.

  • ‘That’s just my face’: JLo hits back at troll accusing her of using ‘tons of Botox’

Jennifer Lopez has fired back at a troll on Instagram who accused her of getting ‘tons of botox’.

According to details, after Lopez, popularly known as JLo, posted a video of herself trying out the ‘limitless’ mask from her beauty brand, J Lo Beauty, an Instagram user commented on it and accused the pop diva of having “tons of Botox”.

“But can I just mention that brows and forehead don’t move at all when you talk or try to express… you definitely have Botox. And tons of it. And it’s all good. Just saying,” commented the social media user.

In response, the 51-year-old star snapped back, writing: “LOL that’s just my face! For the 500 millionth time, I have never done Botox or any injectables or surgery! Just sayin’.”

“Get you some JLo Beauty and feel beautiful in your own skin,” said Lopez further, adding: “And here is another JLo Beauty secret: try spending your time being more positive, kind, and uplifting of others. Don’t spend your time trying to bring others down that will keep you youthful and beautiful too! Sending you love.”

Lopez had earlier also quashed rumours of getting a botox done, saying: “I haven’t ever had botox to this day. I’m not that person. I don’t have anything against people doing that; it’s just not my thing.”

“I’m more about a natural approach to skincare…but I want [my products] to work. I want the hyaluronic acid in there. I want the things that are going to help because I don’t want to have to go to the needles at some point. I’m not saying one day I won’t, but I haven’t yet,” she added.

Getting wet is the new viral trend in photoshoots

If you are an Insta-stalker like myself, you may have noticed that several A-list celebrities were spotted lounging and posing away in the pool. While I initially thought that it was just a new Pakistani trend, I stumbled upon pictures of Hollywood celebrities posing in the pool as well, establishing the fact that getting wet (and wild) is the new trend in fashion and editorial photoshoots.

It all started with Emmad Irfani, who did an entire editorial shoot wearing dress pants and a dress shirt while standing in a pool.

Damn, check that style and swag.

Sheheryar Munawar was next, who took it a notch higher and wore a full suit in the pool while inviting us to join him for a cup of tea.

Munawar then went on to do another shoot in the pool, this time without a shirt.

We then spotted Minal Khan also posing away in the pool wearing a black high-neck sweater.

Next up we have Jennifer Lopez aka JLo, who turned up the heat and she stood in the pool. The shoot was from her upcoming skincare brand ‘JLo Beauty’. From where does the actor look 51?

Last but not the least there is Sacha Baron Cohen, who also suited up in the pool. Though we do have to add here that our boys slayed it better.

Which pool shot was your favourite? Ours has to be JLo and Sheheryar.
