‘The connection is very different’: Areej Chaudhary on Mustafa and Sharjeena

Actress and model Areej Chaudhary, who plays the character of Natasha in the hit drama serial Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, recently opened up about her role and the lessons viewers can learn from the storyline.

Recently, she gave an interview to Connect Cinne, where Areej reflected on the chemistry between Mustafa and Sharjeena.

The host, Fardioon Shahryar, asked, “There has been a lot of discussion about Mustafa and Sharjeena’s chemistry. What’s your take on it? Do you find it amazing and one of the reasons it has connected with audiences worldwide?”

Areej said, “Their connection is very different. The first thing I want to tell you about them is that Sharjeena was getting married to someone else, but it didn’t happen, so what happened was she got married to Mustafa.”

The Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actress also spoke about the unexpected turns of life, sharing her thoughts.

“But you see how things turned out—you didn’t like a person at first, and suddenly you end up marrying them. Sometimes you feel like your chemistry with someone isn’t going to work, but you never really know. You never know when you might develop amazing chemistry with someone. A person you didn’t expect can become the best companion for you,” Areej said.

“I think this is a lesson for people, and it’s a beautiful thing that shows us that sometimes the decision we make, thinking, ‘This person is perfect for me, I should marry them,’ doesn’t turn out to be right in the long run. And sometimes things happen accidentally, by nature or by God’s will, and it turns out to be a miracle for you, becoming much better than expected,” the Sitam actress added.

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Badar Mehmood.

The drama airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 PM on ARY Digital.

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum has enthralled audiences with its gripping storyline. Among the plethora of its fan favourite characters is Rubab, played by Naeema Butt.

In a recent interview on ARY Digital, Butt shared candid thoughts and one odd desire she has.

When asked about whose bag she would like to inspect, Naeema Butt said, “It’s a messy one, I like everything messy, I’m very messy. I want to check (Punjab Chief Minister) Maryam Nawaz’s bag.”

She was then asked, “What are the three essential things in your bag that you can’t live without?”

The Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actress replied, “I can’t live without water. Mostly I also have water in my purse, and that’s one thing I think is very crucial. I can’t go without water, number one. There is money, so of course that, and my ID cards. I think these are the three things. That’s it. Well, a lot of extra tissue papers.”

A few days ago ARY Digital asked Naeema about the most-searched Google questions about her on-screen character Rubab and gave answers to satisfy fans’ curiosities.

“How to get hair like Rubab,” one question asked.

“First of all, it’s important to acknowledge that I am a creation of Allah, as we all are. Secondly, it’s about your genes and who your parents are, so choose good parents if you can. Thirdly, maintaining a good diet is essential. Whenever I try to lose weight and don’t eat enough carbs, my hair thin out. It’s important to have a balanced diet that includes proteins, carbs, and fiber. Vitamins play a significant role. I take biotin and collagen, which help with hair health. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water, manage your stress levels, and get enough sunlight for that vitamin D,” Butt added.

As for Rubab’s accent, Naeema said, “Well, it can be any accent you like British, American, Pakistani, or even a blend. It’s all about Rubab’s style.”

When asked about how to get a job in Rubab’s company, Butt jokingly said, “For that, you’d have to kill Adeel because I’m not going to offer jobs just like that. It’s just about love.”

  • Can you imagine Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum with different actors?

Can you imagine Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum with different actors?

When it comes to casting the perfect actors for a drama serial, every little detail counts, especially for a drama like ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ which has become popular because of its gripping storyline and brilliant performances.

But have ever wondered what the drama would be like with a completely different cast?

Hania Aamir plays the character of Sharjeena, and Emmad Irfani plays the character of Adeel.

Recently, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum director Badar Mehmood appeared on Gloss Etc by Maliha Rehman.

“This is a collective decision, when the story is written and the script is prepared, there are some writers’ inputs involved. The writer (Farhat Ishtiaq) specifically told me that she wanted Hania Aaamir to be cast, and for Emmad Irafani, she mentioned that too. Fortunately, we got both of them because, as you know, there are timeline issues and commitments. The only concern is that there shouldn’t be any commitments. So it was just luck that we managed to get both of them for this drama.”

The host asked, “They also said that if the chemistry is good, the drama will progress well. Did you know from the beginning that this romance might require some censorship?”

Mehmood replied, “Until now, we haven’t had to face any issues on TV. However, when the 25th episode aired, a censor issue came up that I had to address because it was related to romance. In the 25th episode, there’s a scene where Fahad is lying on the bed, and Hania is resting her head on his shoulder. I initially took a wider shot, but then I made it more compact. I thought, when I saw the drama that was the wider shot with both of them lying down and talking. I made it more compact so that it wouldn’t cause too much concern on TV.”

Badar also highlighted how important it is to show closeness in a respectful way, especially when it involves portraying different types of relationships on screen.

“It also depends on the relationship, if it’s a husband-wife relationship, I feel there should be some allowance for that. I spoke to the censor board and said, ‘It’s a husband-wife relationship, it should be fine.’ But if it’s a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, I understand that certain boundaries should definitely be maintained. That’s the beauty of a husband-wife relationship, it should be  shown,” Badar Mehmood added.

Fahad aur Hania ke bhi maze hain jab dil chaha characters break ker liye

Ya’ll the whole stages of ishq scene was cute and stuff but i was more focused on the last stage, that is mout. I had to go back and see the first teaser of the drama and guess what i found!! “Sab kuch dao pe lag sakta hai, zindagi be”

Does that mean— Couldn’t help crying in this scene…it was such a simple scene yet such nuanced writing and performance.

Emmad Irfani has a brotherly bond with Fahad Mustafa in real life

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is currently one of the biggest hit dramas in Pakistan, and it is being widely praised for its character development.

Emmad Irfani and Naeem Butt appeared as guests on BBC Urdu recently, where Irfani talked about his off-screen experience.

Emmad said, “Off-screen, we were like a family. Javed Sheikh sahab would bring food, Bushra jee would bring food, and sometimes Badar, our director, would bring food as well. And I’m not exaggerating, but Fahad and I developed a brotherly bond off-screen. Maybe that’s also a factor that the audience is seeing on-screen, the camaraderie we built off-screen is probably showing up on-screen as well.”

On the hand, Naeema Butt, who plays Rubab, is not only getting attention for her acting but also for her long hair.

“I’ve always faced this issue in the industry because of my long hair, and I’ve been told several times that I should cut my hair short in order to look more modern and since it’s simpler to style. Still, I never really followed that advice because, whether I’m in Pakistan or New York, my hair is very special to me”, Naeema Butt added.

‘I could never be her in real life’: Areej Chaudhary opens up about playing Natasha

‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ is currently one of the hit dramas in Pakistan, and it is being widely praised for its character development.

Among the characters is Natasha, played by actress Areej Chaudhry. Her character involves an apparent extra marital affair with her best friend Rubab’s husband, Adeel.

Recently, Chaudhry appeared as a guest on ‘Something Haute’ where she talked about her character in the trending drama.

The host, Hassan Choudhry, asked, “What similarities are there between Natasha and you?”

“I could never be her in real life. I may be like Natasha when it comes to appreciating art, but other than that, I don’t like anything about her. I would never do something like that in my life,” she responded.

Talking about the “Humpty Dumpty” reference in the drama, Chaudhry said that she would never want to say such a thing in real life.

“We see these kinds of characters in films and dramas. Did you take inspiration from any specific character?” the host asked.

To which she responded, “No, I didn’t want to do that because, I believe, when you try to copy or understand something by watching someone else, you lose the ability to bring your own touch to it.

I wanted to think about it in my own way. If I were like this [Natasha], what would I do? That’s how I approached it,” she explained.

Sindh Culture Minister takes action over missing artwork

Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Minister for Culture and Tourism in Sindh, has formed a two-person investigating commission to investigate the disappearance of painter Safdar Ali Soomro’s artwork .

The Director General of Antiquities and the Director General of Culture make up the committee which will conduct a thorough investigation and provide a comprehensive report on the missing artwork

Minister for Cultural Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said, “We have initiated a comprehensive investigation, and further action will be taken based on the findings. Any negligence or misconduct will be addressed accordingly.”
Big Bang issued a statement on their Instagram account, saying,

“As artists and producers ourselves, our sympathies go out to the concerned individual. This being said, Big Bang Entertainment would like to clarify that we have no involvement in this matter. The location for this specific shoot was rented, and as per our agreement, all assets present, including the painting in question, belonged to the venue owners.”

“Unfortunately, this is beyond the control of our production team, and we encourage the artist to directly address the matter with the concerned parties. We hope for a swift and fair resolution and expect all stakeholders to respect the unprecedented success and acclaim Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum has organically achieved these past few weeks.”

Safdar Ali Soomro, a talented artist from Daharki in Ghokti, Sindh, never imagined that his paintings would be featured in the smash hit drama Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum.

The trending serial has captured the hearts of viewers both in Pakistan and abroad, with its characters and storyline receiving widespread praise.

However, an unexpected twist occurred when artist Safdar Ali Soomro recognized his lost paintings hanging in the background in one of the episodes.

In an exclusive conversation with The Current, Safdar shared the story of his missing artwork. Graduating from the University of Sindh with a focus on fine arts, Safdar created 16 paintings for his thesis, all in blue monochrome, under the theme ‘Innocent Faces.’ These works were displayed at his university’s Benazir Art Gallery, after which he sought exhibitions in Karachi.

“After the display, I took my paintings to Karachi to explore the market. I had already participated in two or three local exhibitions while I was at the university. I saw an ad on Frere Hall’s social media inviting artists to submit their paintings for an exhibition. I submitted my paintings to their Sadeqain Art Gallery, and they made an entry in their book. I might have received a receipt, but I don’t have it anymore.”

Before bringing his paintings to Karachi, he had already showcased his work in a few university exhibitions.

Safdar submitted his paintings to Frere Hall, but to his dismay, he was informed that they had gone missing. Seven years later, in 2024, he was surprised to see his artwork featured in episode 17 of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.

“ I want to say that whoever’s paintings they are, they should get the credit. No third party should take credit for my work. I am the owner of those paintings, and I have proofs and my signature on them,” Soomro added.

The Current reached out to Big Bang Productions, who clarified that they had nothing to do with the paintings and only paid rent for the scene shot at Frere Hall. The problem now lies at Frere Hall’s doorsteps, with many questions still unanswered.
