Geo news has reported that 10 bodies were found in Karachi in a span of nine hours on Sunday.
Rescue officials revealed that all the individuals were likely drug addicted, adding that three bodies were discovered at the KMC ground in Lyari’s Lashari neighborhood while other were found in Golimar, Jahangir Road, Landhi Godam Chowrangi, Defense Phase Seven, Orangi Town Sector 15, and Khamisu Goth.
The bodies were initially taken to respective police stations and then to the mortuary.
Amid intense heat, Karachi continues to face severe electricity load shedding lasting between 12 and 14 hours. Despite the challenging weather, unannounced power cuts persist throughout the city, extending well past 2 am in many areas.
Neighbourhoods such as Lyari, Kemari, Sarjani, Baldia Town, and Orangi endure prolonged load shedding, with interruptions lasting up to 14 hours. Similarly, Gizri, Korangi, Landhi, Liaquatabad, Qayyumabad, and Shadman experience more than 10 hours of power cuts. In Malir, Memongoth, North Karachi, and North Nazimabad, residents face load shedding exceeding 12 hours.
In response to these challenges, a spokesperson for Karachi Electric maintains that power supply across the city remains normal, despite reports of extensive and prolonged interruptions in various neighbourhoods.
Commissioner Karachi has banned bathing and swimming on various Karachi beaches for two months, from July 16 to September 15.
The office of the Commissioner has directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure compliance with the ban.
Citizens are advised to follow the orders to ensure safety.
“There is apprehension expressed by the concerned Deputy Commissioners that a large number of public is expected to visit the beaches in Karachi during Eid Holidays and there is every likelihood of drowning incidents occurring due to public bathing and swimming in the sea, owing to the monsoon spell and high tides in the sea,” the notification read.
However, bathing in the sea is banned at Canap Beach, Mubarak Village, and Sonera Beach until August 13, according to Geo News.
A private school principal in Karachi has been arrested for torturing and harassing a female student.
The victim’s sister reported the incident to Iqbal Market police, leveling allegations against Climax English School’s principal, Manzar Al-Madi.
He was accused of attempting to rape a Class 10 student at the school near Orangi Town, reported The News.
Initial police reports say that on June 1, the principal allegedly attempted to rape the student in one of the rooms of the school. The victim’s sister, in her statement, stated that the principal had been sending obscene messages and harassing her sister for several days.
She alleged that the principal turned the CCTV camera towards the ceiling and forced the student to commit adultery, threatening to fail her in her matric exams and ruin her future if she did not comply.
The victim’s sister claimed that the principal assaulted the student, but she managed to save herself by hitting the principal in the gut.
An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.

A truck full of goats was looted near Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan Johar area of Karachi.
According to the police, four men on a motorcycle escaped with a truck full of goats.
The vehicle was carrying 30 goats. Two suspects forced the driver off the truck.
A trader, Abdul Manan, said the goats were being transported from Hyderabad to Gulistan Johar.
Police are investigating the incident and are in search of the culprits following the complaint from the merchant.
Karachi court rejected the request to extend the physical remand of activist Sarim Burney in the case of human trafficking. He has been sent to jail on judicial remand.
Burney was detained by the FIA on charges of human trafficking and fraud. He was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Sharqi after a two-day physical remand.
Court proceedings
The investigating officer of FIA requested an extension in the physical remand of the accused, claiming that the mother of an allegedly smuggled child, Afshin, had sold the baby girl to a woman named Madiha. Madiha had then reportedly sold the baby girl to another woman, Bushra. On the other hand, Sarim Burney Trust declared the girl an orphan in front of the family court.
The investigating officer also complained in court that Sarim Burney is not cooperating in the investigation as he is not answering questions correctly. He pleaded that more than 20 victims have to be identified, but the accused is not helping the FIA in the investigation.
The court raised the question of money exchanged with the person who adopted a baby girl Haya. A lawyer said that the person who adopted the girl paid three thousand dollars. The court asked if there is any evidence related to the money. The lawyer replied that FIA is trying to get digital and financial records from US authorities.
FIA wants the case of minor girls to be tried without camera recordings, as it claimed that an organised group is involved. They also wanted Burney to get one more week on a physical remand.
The court inquired if the biological parents of the girls were alive. The lawyer affirmed that the parents of the girls are alive and will get their statements recorded in court.
Burney’s lawyer, Amir Nawaz Waraich, appeared in court and said that the family had been contacted, and they gave the girls willingly. He alleged that baby girl Haya’s mother was being blackmailed by the FIA for two and a half months.
Burney’s lawyer defended his client by saying that the accused would answer the appropriate questions. Burney said that he had evidence in his mobile phone.
However, the court asked Burney why he lied when he knew that the real parents of the girl were alive, to which Sarim said he did not know.
The court expressed surprise at this answer and remarked that Burney is the head of the institution; how could he not know?
Burney filed a bail application, but the court ordered the FIA investigating officer to record his statement and sent him to jail on judicial remand until the next hearing, which is scheduled for June 10.

Previously, the FIA claimed that Sarim Barney admitted to making a mistake in his initial statement. However, in a judicial remand, the accused is sent to jail. Only after the judicial remand in Pakistan, the accused can file a bail petition before a judge.

A 17-year-old boy, Samad, was shot dead by a security guard in North Karachi for not picking up waste.
A security guard and a boy had an argument over picking up garbage, after which the guard got angry and shot the boy in the stomach. The injured child was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance, where he succumbed to his injuries and died, as per the initial report. However, the accused guard escaped after the incident.
Police say that there was an argument between the guard and the child about picking up garbage, during which the guard of the private security company opened fire and fled.
The police told Geo News that the security guard has been identified as Ramzan, and they are looking for him.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested social activist Sarim Burney from Karachi on charges of human trafficking, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
Authorities apprehended him when he landed in Karachi from a tour to the United States (US) of America. A source in FIA revealed that authorities arrested Burney on a complaint by the US government.
Sarim Burney allegedly adopted 25 children and illegally smuggled them to the US, the FIA source added.
The source claimed that the FIA has started an investigation into the matter.
The activist runs the Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International, a non-profit trust “representing the oppressed and less privileged population”, according to the organisation’s website.
As per the website, the trust provides “legal services for child abuse, harassment, sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, violation of human rights, workers compensation rights and other serious crimes.”
Two incidents of youth being robbed and killed in Karachi have been reported in the past three days.
20-year-old Abdul Basit was murdered by two robbers upon resistance near the Nasir Jump area of Korangi. He belonged to Quetta and used to sell slippers.
An investigation has revealed that Basit had given money and mobile phones to the robbers but the robbers still shot him dead.
Another incident that is making waves is the death of 27-year-old Itteqa Moin, a gold medalist mechanical engineer, and Hafiz-e-Quran who was killed on Saturday by robbers in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. The young man was pursuing an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration and got married a year ago.
CCTV footage shows Itteqa returning from a bakery run when he was halted by two armed men on a motorcycle. They snatched his motorcycle, mobile phone, and cash, and started beating him, eventually shooting him dead.
The family claims that the incident took place near their home and Itteqa had not put up resistance but was killed while the police’s version says that he did show “some resistance” and this provoked the robbers to open fire at him.
SHO of the area has been suspended over failure to control crimes while the police investigation is ongoing.
Police said that in Korangi Crossing, citizens caught two robbers and handed them over to the police in a severely injured condition. One of them died of serious injuries from the violence while the condition of the other is critical.
However, the robber who was handed over to the police was not involved in the murder of Abdul Basit.
