    Kate Winslet reveals truth behind Titanic’s iconic scene

    Was there really room on the door for Jack in Titanic? Decades after the film’s release, Kate Elizabeth Winslet has finally cleared up the mystery surrounding the iconic floating debris, revealing it wasn’t a door at all but rather a piece of floating wood.

    During an interview on at a 92nd street Y event, English actress Winslet recalled how the water wasn’t as deep as it appeared in the film, stating, “That was quite an awkward tank. Because, to burst the bubble, it was waist height at that time.”
    She joked about the challenges of the shoot, revealing, “I was regularly like, ‘Can I just go for a pee?’ I’d have to climb off the door and walk to the edge of the tank, which was sort of 20 feet away.”

    Reflecting on her rise to fame, Winslet mentioned the pressure she felt afterward, saying “I felt like I had to look a certain way, or be a certain thing, and because media intrusion was so significant at that time, my life was quite unpleasant.”
    Titanic released in 1997, tells the love story of Jack and Rose aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic. Their romance blossoms amid class struggle and the ships tragic sinking, capturing the hearts of audience worldwide.
    The film was directed, written and produced by James Cameron.

    In an interview with People at the Golden Globes 2023, Avatar: The Way of Water director James Cameron revealed Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t want to become the leading man in his Titanic. He said, “He didn’t want to do a leading man. I had to really twist his arm to be in the movie. He didn’t want to do it. He thought it was boring. It didn’t surprise me, first of all, that he’s made a lot of authentic choices going forward. And secondly, I never doubted his talent.”

    Going further in the conversation, James explained how he had to fight for him and convince him to do the role. He even shared that he cannot imagine Titanic without Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. He said, “I think about that casting Leonardo and Kate in Titanic. Leo, the studio didn’t want him; I had to fight for him. Kate really liked him and then Leonardo decided he didn’t want to make the movie. So then I had to talk him into it. You think at any one of those places, if that had really kind of frayed apart, it would have been somebody else and it wouldn’t have been that film. I can’t imagine that film without him and without her.”

    Well, Titanic is in its 25th year and the movie’s re-release is doing rounds all over the news and the internet. Kate and Leonardo’s on-screen chemistry is something we all look forward to in our subconscious minds.

    Actor Kate Winslet spoke about her special training and preparation for James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way Of Water” in which she held her breath underwater for seven minutes and 15 seconds. She has set a new record on a film set, and has also beaten her fellow actor Tom Cruise’s record.

    Tom Cruise had previously set the record for six minutes while filming an underwater stunt for his film, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”. The average time a person can hold their breath for is around one or two minutes.

    Kate recently appeared on “The Graham Norton Show” ahead of the release of the “Avatar sequel” and shed light on several topics, including her record along with the possibility of season 2 of “Mare of Easttown”.

    Kate also shared a video of her training with an instructor and holding her breath underwater for seven minutes and 15 seconds. After doing some breathing exercises, Kate asks, “Am I dead?”

    When she learns how long she held her breath, the actor gets all excited.

    The actor mentioned that holding her breath for extended time needs both physical and mental conditioning. “It’s something that you have to learn how to do.”
