  • Usman Dar’s mother Rehana Dar cleared for contesting Sialkot elections

The mother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar, Rehana Imtiaz Dar, will take part in the upcoming election against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif from NA-71 Sialkot-2, after an election tribunal approved her nomination papers on Tuesday.

She will contest for a National Assembly (NA) seat in the upcoming general elections, set to take place on February 8, 2024. Her papers were earlier rejected by the returning officer (RO) on grounds of grabbing 40-marla land by forgery.

The election tribunal, however, heard her appeal against the decision and annulled the RO’s decision, after which her papers were cleared.

However, the nomination papers of Dar’s sister-in-law, Ruba Dar, wife of his brother Umer Dar, were rejected from the same constituency.

In December 2023, Usman Dar said that he will strongly support his mother in the upcoming polls.

  • Same people who conspired against Nawaz Sharif brought the protesters to Faizabad, says Khawaja Asif

Same people who conspired against Nawaz Sharif brought the protesters to Faizabad, says Khawaja Asif

As the Supreme Court began to consider review petitions related to the Faizabad sit-in verdict, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former defence minister Khawaja Asif claimed on Thursday that the protesters of the sit-in were brought to Islamabad by the “same people” who were involved in a plot against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“If there was any flaw in the decision of the Faizabad sit-in case, all these things would not have happened. The Faizabad sit-in case decision should be implemented,” the PML-N stalwart said during Geo News show Capital Talk.

Government officials distributed money in a video, and that is “proof” of who was responsible for bringing the protesters to Faizabad, he added.

The PML-N leader also said that “the purpose of the sit-in was to somehow block the return of Nawaz Sharif”.

The former defence minister stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was handed a victory in 2018 while Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were in jail.

Khwaja Asif slammed for calling PTI women legislators ‘garbage’

Federal Minister for Defence, Khwaja Asif, found himself yet again at the center of a controversy after he passed derogatory comments about female legislators of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

After being criticized by PTI parliamentarians on the “bulldozing” of bills in the assembly, Asif spoke up and reminded the opposition of their government’s tenure when bills were similarly bulldozed through the lower House.

“Depraved women should not lecture on chastity,” he said, then stated that if he responds, the “woman card” will be used against him.

Asif then went on to call the women the “remains” and “ruins” of Imran Khan, pointing towards the benches where Senators Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur, Sania Nishtar, Falak Naz Chitrali and Fawzia Arshad were sitting.

“This is the garbage that has to be cleaned,” he remarked.

His comments were met by fierce protests by PTI female parliamentarians.

Raja Pervez Ashraf, the Speaker of the National Assembly, then expunged the word “garbage” from the speech.

Asif, who has in the past been accused of misogynistic comments, most notably against PTI leader Shireen Mazari, has been slammed by commentators and politicians for the speech.

Mentioning that the attackers were brainwashed by their leaders to attack military installations, he further said that I would tell the judiciary to leave a legacy if they wanted to be remembered.
