    Islamabad complete seal ho gya, Lahore ma Rangers pohanch gai

    As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares for what it has said will be peaceful protests in Islamabad, the federal capital has been entirely sealed off, including major roads.

    The local administration of Islamabad has imposed section 144 while mobile phone services have been suspended in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and all link roads have also been blocked. Security is on high alert, and double-layer containers have been put on the Faizabad bridge, Geo News reported.

    Barbed wires have been placed at D Chowk Islamabad, and additional police and rangers have also been deployed; Capital police have arrested three individuals from D Chowk till now.

    Precariously, the Islamabad expressway has been sealed in various locations. The metro bus in Rawalpindi has also been suspended till further notice. And Motorcycle pillion riding is also banned.

    Punjab Interior Ministry has also imposed section 144 in Rawalpindi, Attock and Sargodha. Rangers have been called in at Lahore, Rawalpindi and Attock.

    A notification issued by the Punjab Interior Ministry stated that three company services of Rangers have been requisitioned for October 5 in Lahore.

    Lahore’s entry points have also been halted with containers including Babu Sabu interchange, Thokar Niaz Baig, and Lahore Sialkot motorway.

    Punjab govt to ban protests, political gatherings in Lahore for six days

    The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Lahore after authorizing it in other cities of the province.

    The Home Department has issued a notification announcing the implementation of Section 144 in the city for six days from October 3 to October 8.

    The notification said that there will be a ban on all kinds of public and political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, demonstrations, protests and all other such activities within the limits of Lahore for six days.

    It further stated that in view of the security threats, any public gathering can be an easy target for terrorists, so the decision to implement Section 144 has been taken on the recommendation of the district administration.

    Notably, in the current wake of circumstances, section 144 has also been implemented in Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Chiniot and Jhang in other districts of Punjab.

    Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has also called for a protest cum procession at Minar-i-Pakistan Lahore on October 5.

    The Punjab government has already tabled an amendment bill in the provincial assembly to allow Section 144-a, a remnant of colonial-era law to ban public gatherings, to be enforced for at least three months.

    Samaa News has reported that Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz imposed a ban on the sale and use of “Baja” to ensure order and the peaceful observance of Independence Day.

    The DC requested the public to refrain from using these items, “In light of recent observations and to ensure a safe and orderly Independence Day celebration, we are enforcing a complete ban on the sale and use of bajas,” he stated.

    “We request all residents to cooperate by avoiding the use of these items,” the notification added.

    The DC has also instructed stall owners to stop the sale of ‘baja’ immediately. He warned that legal action would be pursued against anyone found violating this directive.

    However, Samaa reported that the baja is being sold openly at various stalls across Islamabad.

    Authorities have destroyed dengue larvae found in 1,555 locations in Lahore during the past 24 hours.

    According to reports, monsoon rains and changing weather have accelerated the spread of dengue. During this period, dengue larvae were discovered at over 1,500 sites, leading to 1,460 notices being issued.

    Samaa News reports that according to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, Rafia Haider, 95 cases have been filed for violations of SOPs.

    Authorities have issued notices to 47,539 individuals and registered 2,360 cases for serious SOP violations so far this year.

    Lahore police have arrested cultural analyst and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Omer Adil after a legal complaint by anchor Gharida Farooqui, who accused Dr. Adil of passing derogatory and obscene remarks against her and other female television hosts.

    In July, during an appearance on the podcast Dil Ki Baat hosted by Zohaib Butt, Dr. Adil went on a misogynistic rant: “These anchors are somehow in touch with high profile Pakistanis. Female anchors are treated in an extraordinary manner. Nobody cares about the male anchor sitting next to the female anchor.”

    Dr Umer Adil added that even their show’s producers have no guts to instruct the women or criticize them on their mistakes. In fact, in those cases, producers leave the show and run away.

    In a statement shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Gharida Farooqui wrote, “Dr. Omer Adil has been arrested after my legal request. Dr. Umar Adil made obscene, vulgar and defamatory allegations against me and all women working in the media on the digital platform; In which especially my name was taken. I gave an opportunity to Dr. Omar Adil in legal proceedings to apologize publicly, but he did not do so. Salute to all the law enforcement agencies who acted on my request for the protection of women. It is hoped that justice will be done and the perpetrators of crimes against women will be brought to an end, and women will get full protection in Pakistan.”

    Farooqui also wrote in her tweet, “This arrest has been made by FIA, and all the officials of Cybercrime Wing Lahore, including DG FIA, deserve a lot of thanks and appreciation. They are doing the legal process in the best way with full professional responsibility.”

    Social media users have shown their support for Farooqui by expressing sympathy and supporting her stance against misogyny and defamation on her X account.

    In a new twist to the story, police claim that the murder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding member Dr Shahid Siddique was planned by his son.

    Siddique was shot dead in Valencia Town, Lahore, on August 2 when he was returning from the mosque after offering Friday prayers. His son was present at the crime scene but remained unhurt.

    Police alleged that Siddique’s son, Qayyum, planned his father’s murder with a friend because he wasn’t allowed to marry a girl of his choice by his father.

    Qayyum had made a deal of Rs. 5 million for the murder of his father in January for the same reason, said police, adding he paid Rs20 million for the second attack on Siddiqui. Dr Shahid was attacked in January as well, but police remained unsuccessful in finding the culprits at the time.

    Police said that the same son who was the mastermind behind the murder led his father’s funeral prayer.

    One of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s founding members, Dr Shahid Siddique, was shot dead in Valencia Town, Lahore, yesterday as he returned from the mosque after offering Friday prayers.

    As he was returning from the Khizra Mosque in the H-block of Valencia Town, an unknown man approached him and opened fire.

    The victim suffered four bullet wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital where he passed away.

    IG Punjab Usman Anwar ordered immediate action to arrest the perpetrator(s) and sought a detailed report from DIG Operations.

    PTI leaders expressed shock and condemned the incident, with Zulfi Bukhari saying that he was “devastated to learn the assassination of Dr Siddique.”

    Drug dealer suspect’s lawyer wants same privileges as Imran Khan

    A lawyer for a man arrested in suspicion of being a drug dealer took Lahore High Court to task for denying his clients the privileges given to former Imran Khan, currently also in jail.

    A bail hearing was scheduled today at the Lahore High Court.

    During the proceedings, the suspect’s lawyer cited legal precedents, including cases involving the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan who is currently incarcerated.

    Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, presiding over the bench, deliberated on the eligibility for bail in such cases. He stated that the accused involved in drug trade deserve punishment without bail, emphasizing the detrimental impact of drugs on society and its influence in educational institutions.

    The lawyer argued under Article 25 of the Constitution, the man deserved the same conveniences given to Imran in legal matters. “My client and the PTI founder should be considered equally under Article 25,” the lawyer asserted.

    Responding to this, Justice Mansoor questioned the relevance of Khan’s cases to the current bail application. The lawyer replied back that despite facing numerous cases, the PTI’s founder had been granted bail in a cipher case by the Supreme Court.

    “Imran Khan was granted bail despite facing over 200 cases, including terrorism charges,” the lawyer elaborated. “In contrast, my client faces only 14 cases and should similarly be eligible for bail.”

    Justice Shah differentiated between the nature of charges against the PTI founder and the suspect, emphasizing the severity of the charges in each case.

    The lawyer countered by highlighting the specific charge against the PTI founder, which carries the death penalty. “There is a cipher case against the PTI founder, a capital offense,” the lawyer pointed out.

    The lawyer also drew attention to the disparity in facilities between the PTI founder and his client while in custody. “The PTI founder enjoys better living conditions in jail, which are not available to my client,” the lawyer argued.

    After considering legal precedents and arguments presented, the three-member bench, headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, approved the bail application of the accused, Obaidullah.

    Zulfiqar Ahmed, the owner of Paracha textiles, Meezan Oil and Cola Next, who was kidnapped from Karachi a few days ago, has returned home in Lahore under equally mysterious circumstances.

    Geo News reported that the business magnate has contacted his family and will be with them soon.

    Interestingly, there is no information about his abductors or the whereabouts of where he was during the past few days.

    On July 23, Ahmed was abducted from the Mauripur Road in Karachi as armed men took him and his friend, Qaiser, away in a double-cabin vehicle. His friend was let go shortly after.

    However, two of his company’s senior employees were also allegedly abducted in Lahore recently. They have not yet returned.
