Islamabad Police appoints Haris Rauf as honorary Deputy Superintendent

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, commonly known as the Islamabad Police, have conferred the honorary title of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) upon the celebrated Pakistani fast bowler, Haris Rauf.

The appointment was marked by a ceremony held by the ICT in Islamabad, during which Rauf was attired in police uniform and the title was bestowed upon him by the IG of the Islamabad Police, Dr Akbar Nasir Khan.

Rauf expressed his enthusiasm at being appointed as the goodwill ambassador of the ICT Police on Twitter.

Rauf has made significant contributions to the Pakistani cricket team by claiming 72 T20I wickets and 30 ODI wickets. Recently, he was also spotted at the Wagah Border with the PSL 8 Trophy, which he won with the Lahore Qalandars.

It is noteworthy that this trend of police departments appointing Pakistani pacers as goodwill ambassadors seems to be gaining traction, as earlier this year, Naseem Shah was also conferred with the DSP rank and appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Balochistan Police. The event was marked by a function held at the IG Balochistan Police Office in Quetta.

After being routed by Sultans Qalandars captain Afridi blames ‘Qudrat ka nizam’ for defeat

Lahore Qalandars collapsed in spectacular fashion on Wednesday night, registering the lowest total in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Opening season 8 with a cracking start, Lahore Qalandars were on the Top of the Points table, seemingly well on their way to the finals.
Showing complete team performance in every match and thrashing all opponents one by one, the seemingly invincible Qalandars were routed in the all-important match with Multan Sultans.

Shaheen Afridi, the skipper of the Qalandars wants to assess where they went wrong before eliminator two on Friday.

“We lost wickets quickly, and we will look into what went wrong and prepare for the next game as we still have a chance. When the main batters get out early, there is pressure on the lower-order batters,” he said.
Observing that a single good catch or run-out can win a game, Afridi promised to work on weaknesses.

“It is Qudrat ka Nizam. The wind started to blow, and Cottrell got the ball to swing. This is Qudrat ka Nizam,” added Shaheen Afridi in the post-match chat.

After David Wiese’s all-round performance last night in the Eliminator 2 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, Twitter is flooded with praises for the South African-born Namibian cricketer.

Wiese produced a sensational performance in the final overs of each of the two innings of the PSL 7 Eliminator 2 against Islamabad United in front of a packed to capacity Lahore crowd at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday night to guide his side to a six-run win and a place in the PSL 7 final.

Weise turned the game on its head with the bat as he scored 26 runs off the final over of the Qalandars innings bowled by Waqas Maqsood. Waqas also conceded a wide, leaking 27 runs in the over as Qalandars went from a seemingly below-par 141 for seven to 168 for seven total in a matter of six balls.

Weise remained undefeated with his explosive 28 off eight.

The Qalandars all-rounder then conceded just one run off the four balls of the final over he bowled as Mohammad Wasim Jnr was run out and Waqas brilliantly caught in the deep by Abdullah Shafique as United were bowled out for 162 with two balls to spare.
