    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz of retaining a watch from Toshakhana and said that she should be summoned by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

    He also claimed that this matter should be investigated because “a private citizen got a 2 crore worth watch for 10 lac.”

    Reacting to this, Maryam tagged her Political Secretary Zeeshan Malik to report Fawad for “propagating lies”.

    On Monday, Fawad took to Twitter to share that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken notice of his accusation within a few hours of Maryam’s tweet and pointed out that Supreme Court is quiet when the rights of citizens are suspended in the country.

    In the notice attached with the tweet, the FIA purportedly had asked Fawad to appear in person on Friday (March 17). The tweet was later deleted.

    The Cabinet Division made records of the Toshakhana available to the public on Sunday night.

    Aaj News also aired the false claim related to Maryam, but later apologised to the PML-N leader. However, Maryam Nawaz said that she will take legal action against the channel.

    In a tweet, Maryam said she will lodge a complaint with Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) against journalist Amir Mateen for also airing the false claim.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz has revealed her favourite books, writers, poets and thinkers in a recent interview.

    In an interview with a web channel, Maryam Nawaz said that her favourite reading genre is Fiction and History. She went on to name her favourite writers who’s books she enjoyed reading while she was incarcerated.

    “A few fiction writers are close to reality; I read them a lot, like Paulo Coelho. I really like his Alchemist and Warrior of Light. Elif Shafak is another writer whom I enjoy reading. One of my most favourite books is The Forty Rules of Love. There is a book called, The Seat of the Soul and Twilight in Delhi; I have really enjoyed reading them,” said Maryam.

    She stated that she preferred books with a historical background.

    Moving on to poetry, Maryam said she loves reading the work of Irish poet Seamus Heaney, especially his work on freedom. Recalling her time in jail, Maryam said that was the first time she could read Urdu novels and poetry.

    “One has a lot of time in jail, so I miss how I used to read there. I read the work of Ahmad Faraz, Sahir Ludhianvi, Parveen Shakir and Amjad Islam Amjad. Apart from this, I have enjoyed reading the work of thinkers and even implemented their philosophies in my life. I have really enjoyed the work of Francis Bacon and Friedrich Nietzsche.”

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz has condemned the death of Ali Bilal, a worker and supporter of rival party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who lost his life allegedly at the hands of police on Wednesday when a clash took place in Lahore.

    Maryam extended her condolences to the deceased’s family, saying, “Aik siyaasi kaarkun ki jaan gayi, mujhe is cheez ka behaad afsos hai aur dili afsos hai” (I feel grief that a political worker lost his life).

    The PML-N leader also said that whatever has happened should be investigated.

    On Wednesday, on the call of PTI Chief Imran Khan, PTI workers came out on the roads, resulting in a clash between PTI workers and Lahore police at Zaman Park. PTI leaders claim that the administration is to blame for Ali Bilal’s death.

    During the interview with Adil Shahzeb, Maryam also said that now that ex-Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Faiz Hameed has confessed, the establishment should take notice of his statement.

    “General Faiz will be held accountable by the institution itself,” she said.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that she, too, has faced harassment even though she hails from a privileged background and has a powerful father.

    Addressing a PML-N women workers convention in Lahore on International Woman’s Day, Maryam said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his party has always targeted her with “personal attacks” when she says something political.

    “They talk about my marriage. My wedding was done with alot of love and festivities by my parents and grandparents. And I am still married to the same person. I don’t want to attack anyone personally,” said Maryam.

    “As a woman, it is insulting that I have to take Imran Khan’s name. Due to the current situation in the country, I have to take his name. Being a woman, I have said this many times, I would never let a person like Imran Khan inside my house,” said Maryam, adding that when Imran is asked about politics, he never gives a political answer. Instead, he, in his jalsa says, “Maryam Nawaz, you say my name so many times, be careful; your husband might get angry with you.”

    Khan in May last year made misogynistic remarks about Maryam Nawaz.

    “In that speech, she took my name with such passion that I would like to tell her: Maryam, please be careful, your husband may get upset because you were constantly repeating my name,” said IK during the speech.

    “I am like a daughter to him [Imran Khan], and now because of the fear of arrest, he has become old and is 72 years old, but when it comes to slurs and personally attacking me, where does his old age go?” questioned Maryam.

    Former spymaster retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed is being investigated for alleged corruption, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah revealed.

    In a press conference on Wednesday, the interior minister said that an investigation was underway against the ex-Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief and his brother over alleged corruption and accumulating assets beyond means.

    “Only the institution can conduct Faiz’s court martial,” Sanaullah said, adding that the General Headquarters (GHQ) can hold military trial, not the interior ministry.

    On the other hand, Senior Vice-President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz wants former Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) General (retd) Faiz Hameed to be court martialed. In an interview with a web channel, Maryam Nawaz accused the former spymaster of plotting to overthrow PML-N’s government for two years.

    “I had spoken against Gen Hamid in court when he was the sitting ISI chief for his alleged involvement in getting me and Nawaz Sharif punished. I had evidence against him,” she said, referring to former Islamabad High Court judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s claims that the spy agency tried to prevail on him to issue a verdict of their liking.

    Senior Vice-President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz wants former Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) General (retd) Faiz Hameed to be court martialed.

    In an interview with a web channel, Maryam Nawaz accused the former spymaster of plotting to overthrow PML-N’s government for two years.

    “The biggest punishment for those who brought the ‘hybrid system’ was the public awareness campaign in the form of ‘Respect Vote’,” Maryam Nawaz said, asking that Faiz Hameed be made an example for playing an unconstitutional role.

    However, she said that she was against no institution and only wanted them to hold their own people accountable for their actions, adding that doing so would lead to an increase in their respect and honour.

    Journalist Kamran Khan tweeted on Wednesday that General (retd) Hameed had sent him messages, responding to Maryam Nawaz’s accusations. He wrote: “In response to Maryam Nawaz’s allegations, former ISI head Lt Gen Faiz reminded that 1. He was a Major General in 2017-18. Can a lone Major General remove a government given army’s discipline? 2. The only decision maker in the army is the Chief. 3. All decisions were made by courts.”

    Maryam Nawaz also slammed former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, calling him the biggest criminal in the country’s history, accusing him of taking instructions from a colonel and a brigadier.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is “positively rated” among 61 per cent of Pakistanis, whereas only 36 per cent have a “good opinion” about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

     According to a survey titled Public Pulse Report published by Gallup Pakistan, around 2,000 respondents participated in providing data for the survery.

    According to the report, Khan received a positive rating from 61 per cent of the population while 37 per cent rated him negatively.

    Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif was rated negatively by 65 per cent of Pakistanis while 32 per cent gave him a positive rating. However, people from Punjab rated him better as compared to other provinces.

    As for Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, 36 per cent rated the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman positively while 57 per cent gave him a negative rating. Of all the provinces, he got most positive ratings from Sindh.

    PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, however, was rated negatively by 61 per cent while 34 per cent gave her a positive rating.

    Former president Asif Ali Zardari was rated negatively by 67 per cent while 27 per cent rated him positively.

    We, unfortunately, live in a society where we have to deal with misogynists every day, at every level. Our politicians are no exception to the rule. Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, who happens to be a former provincial minister and a prominent member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), doesn’t even hesitate to use filthy language for a woman politician.

    While talking to the media, Chohan, with a smile on his face, compared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz to former pornographic actress Sunny Leone.

    “Dunya jitni Begum Safdar ko jaanti hai, utni Sunny Leone ko bhi jaanti hai” (As much as the world knows about Sunny Leone, they know about Begum Safdar too).

    In a degrading tone and high-pitched voice, he kept using insulting remarks against Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Not only this, he even used foul language while talking about Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.

    This is not the first time that a PTI leader has targeted Maryam. Fayaz’s party chairman Imran Khan, in a public rally, said that Maryam might annoy her husband the way she repeats his [Khan] name during her political speeches.

    “Someone sent me a clip of Maryam’s speech… Maryam took my name repeatedly so passionately that she should be careful… it might annoy her husband,” said Khan.

    Chohan is indeed a problematic politician. In 2019, he was removed from his post as Punjab Minister for Information and Culture over derogatory remarks against the Hindu community.

    The Current strongly condemns the PTI leader’s misogynist comment.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, in an interview with Naya Pakistan, has claimed that she has evidence against the former Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed.

    Maryam Nawaz said that she had been talking against Hameed even when he was the sitting DG ISI. “I submitted an application to the court with evidence when he was the DG ISI.”

    “Imran Khan said the Jail Bharo Tehreek was successful, but I have not seen such a failed movement in history,” she said, adding that the PTI chief had plastered his leg for fear of going to jail.

    She reiterated that the “traces” that Lt Gen (retd) Hameed left behind can still be found in the institution, which are supporting Khan till date citing that as the reason he doesn’t go to jail.

    She claimed that fake cases were registered against her father, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. Maryam Nawaz also said that party members used to get arrested at the start of proceedings.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan continued their Twitter spat over the depreciation of the rupee against the dollar on Thursday.

    Calling out the Pakistan Democratic Movemnet (PDM)-led government for slaughtering the rupee and blaming the “regime change conspiracy” narrative imposed on Pakistanis by former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, Khan tweeted, “Rupee slaughtered — lost over 62% or 110/$ in 11 months of PDM. This has increased public debt alone Rs 14.3 trn [trillion] & historic 75 yr high inflation 31.5%.”

    He added that Pakistanis are “paying [a] heavy price of regime change conspiracy where a bunch of criminals have been foisted upon nation by ex COAS”.

    Responding to Khan’s statement, Maryam snapped back at him dismissing his party for its three-year-long “incompetence”.

    “Mighty audacious of u to criticize those who’re undoing yr mess created through yr ruthless plunder, incompetence, misplaced priorities, cruel deal that you struck with IMF & then its breach that plunged the country into economic turmoil,” Maryam tweeted.

    Maryam then told Khan “So sit down!” in her tweet.

    “And let’s not forget to thank all those for this mayhem who handpicked and fed you for four years, as well as the remnants of their influence in the judiciary that you are now banking on,” the PML-N leader tweeted adding that it won’t be allowed again.

    “Won’t let that happen Insha’Allah,” Maryam added.

    The two indulged in a Twitter spat after the rupee plunged by nearly Rs19 against the US dollar today ahead of the central bank’s monetary policy review and amid concerns over a stalled International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal.

    Lat week, Maryam hit back at Khan on Twitter after he called her a spoilt brat in a tweet.

    “Shameless & calculated attacks on SC judges by PDM & spoilt brat Maryam, nurtured on corruption money, have one purpose only – to run away from elections even by violating Constitution,” tweeted Khan.

    Responding to Khan’s accusations, Maryam tweeted, “Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Your squeals are not amiss as you have been the king of conspiracies,thriving & surviving on them with the help of your Godfather Faiz & his vestiges.”
