  • Momal Sheikh’s surprise confession: ‘I chose love over a SRK meeting’

Momal Sheikh’s surprise confession: ‘I chose love over a SRK meeting’

In a candid and heartwarming episode of the FHM podcast, Pakistani actor Momal Sheikh shared a touching story about how she chose love over a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan. Momal revealed that she fell in love with her now-husband, Nadir, following him abroad to nurture their romance.

Reflecting on a crucial moment in her life, Momal talked about her father Javed Sheikh being included in the star-studded song “Deewangi” for the Bollywood movie Om Shanti Om in India. “My dad was shooting Om Shanti Om in India, and he asked if I wanted to visit,” she shared.

However, her heart was set on Nadir. “I had to choose between meeting Shah Rukh Khan and being with Nadir. So, I decided to go to London while my brother went for the song and got to meet everyone.”

Describing her journey to London as a “challenging romantic adventure,” Momal faced dramatic twists reminiscent of a Bollywood film. Upon arriving in London, she discovered Nadir had left for another city, a pivotal moment in their relationship.

She recalled, “Finding my Shah Rukh Khan was quite the romantic saga. When I reached London, Nadir had already gone elsewhere. So, I asked him straightforwardly if he wanted to marry me. He said yes without hesitation, and his mother met mine soon after. It all happened very quickly, like something out of a Kajol and SRK romance.”

Momal’s pursuit of love led to a swift engagement, despite her initial worries about family acceptance. She humorously likened their story to Bollywood plots but emphasized their families were supportive.

“I thought our parents might object, but no,” Momal shared. “They were surprisingly supportive. My father-in-law just wanted Nadir to secure a job before we proceeded with the marriage. He was a student when we fell in love. It was a classic case of engagement followed swiftly by marriage.”

A few days after an unexpected meeting among three important people at the President House, another ‘unusual’ meeting took place on Sep 8 (today).
Former information minister Muhammad Ali Durrani met President Arif Alvi on the completion of the president’s constitutional term.

Muhammad Ali Durrani is the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F). He also served as information minister in the era of late military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. In 2021, during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, he proposed starting a dialogue between stakeholders.

According to Geo News, the former information minister called on President Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr. However, no official statement has been issued about the huddle.

“Political pundits are terming the meeting unusual, as Durrani was inactive in politics for a long time and played a key role in the backdoor meeting,” the publication said.

Earlier, sources told The News that two important personalities met President Alvi in Aiwan-e-Sadr. The meeting was held on the fourth floor of the Aiwan-e-Sadr, with the premises being off-limits for everyone, including staff.

Petroleum dealers and Minister set to meet today to resolve profit margin dispute

According to media reports, the Petroleum dealers are scheduled to hold a meeting today with Minister of State for Petroleum, Musadik Malik, in an effort to reach an agreement on increasing profit margins.

In response to their demands, the Petroleum dealers have been engaged in protests and have issued threats of a countrywide shutdown of stations if their requests are not met.

However, following a meeting between officials of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) and the Minister on Friday, the strike has been temporarily postponed, pending a resolution regarding the increment of the dealers’ profit margin.

A spokesperson from the PPDA clarified that no petrol stations will be closed until after the meeting, and any further course of action will be determined based on the outcome of the meeting.

Currently, the profit margin for dealers stands at 2.4 per cent or Rs6 per liter, and they are seeking a revision to 5 per cent, which amounts to nearly double the current margin.

According to Mettis Global, the PPDA Chairman, Abdul Sami Khan, pointed out that the consumer price index has escalated by 38 per cent, while electricity and other utility rates have also spiked, primarily due to the increase in the Kibor rate.

He further highlighted that a decision was made in 1999, stating that dealers would receive a 5 per cent margin on oil products. However, the government fixed the margin at Rs6 per liter, resulting in a mere 2.4 per cent profit for dealers, which has left them dissatisfied.
