  • The hero cop who refused to surrender to militants

    According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) police, a police personnel deployed on the security of Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) of Polio team was martyred in Ragzai, South Waziristan, KPK.

    LQAS is a global standard practice to check the efficacy of any immunization campaign conducted in the region. Since Polio campaigns are regularly implemented across the country, LQAS procedure is being conducted as well to check the quality of polio vaccination campaigns.

    Rahemullah Mehsud was surrounded by militants when they asked him to give up and lay down his weapons, however the brave son of the soil refused to surrender and said people of Waziristan would remember him as a coward if he did so and laid down his life in the line of duty. The story has been posted on X by journalist Iftikhar Firdous.

    According to KPK Police, during the last year, the number of martyred police personnel was 137 – a grim reminder of the country’s worsening security situation.

  • Gilgit-Baltistan minister, abducted by militants, returns home

    Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Prisons Minister Colonel (retd) Abaidullah Baig has returned home after being abducted by militants on Friday while en route to Skardu from Islamabad.

    According to police, the minister was travelling with two foreigners when abducted by terrorists.

    Geo News’ sources have said that the kidnappers had demanded the release of their jailed accomplices.

    Earlier, former GB government spokesperson Faizullah told Geo News that he has spoken to the minister and talks were underway for the release. He had said he was present at the Jirga where negotiations were held with the kidnappers.

    Faizullah said that the militants had kept Baig and his companions in a house for six hours. They were released at 3am after negotiations.

    Baig was elected from Hunza 6 on a PTI ticket and he is a member of the GB Legislative Assembly since 2020.

    ‘Fear and panic’: TTP sets up ‘check-post’ in Swat

    Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has established a check-post on the Balasoor Top, reports The News.

    According to the news outlet, the militants have established a check-post on the Balasoor Top in Matta tehsil, the hometown of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, while also roaming in other areas of the district.

    Local residents of the area have said that the number of Taliban militants was increasing in the mountainous areas of Matta tehsil with each passing day, which had created panic and fear among the inhabitants.

    Meanwhile, during Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’, it was revealed that at least 200-250 TTP militants are in the area and have stated that they are in Pakistan based on a peace agreement.

  • Al Qaeda militants arrested from Lahore

    The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested four alleged members of Al Qaeda from Lahore, the CTD spokesperson has confirmed according to Samaa News. An FIR has also been registered at the CTD police station and the police has started interrogation from the suspects.

    The law enforcement authorities received “credible source information” about the presence of members of the banned organisation near Lahore’s Mohlanwal Road.

    Four men, identified as Muhammad Mushtaq, Sami Ullah, Adil Jamal, and Usama Khalid, were arrested, in a raid on Tuesday morning. “They were orchestrating an attack on law enforcement agencies in the city,” the CTD spokesperson told Samaa.

    Earlier in August, the CTD arrested two alleged members of banned organisation Al Qaeda at Jallo Pind.
