    Man given 29 years in jail for sexually assaulting minor girl

    Life imprisonment and 14- years jail time were handed down to a prisoner in a case pertaining to sexually assaulting a minor girl by a special court for gender-based violence in Lahore.

    On the complaint of the minor’s father, Sanda police had registered the FIR in 2021 against Imran, the brother-in-law of the complainant’s elder daughter who took his 5-year-old daughter to a shrine and sexually assaulted her there.

    Additional District and Sessions Judge Kaneez Fatima Bhatti, the presiding judge of the special court, handed down rigorous life imprisonment to the accused for rape under section 376 (iii) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), besides Rs50,000 fine.

    Section 376 (iii) of the PPC states, “Whoever commits rape of a minor or a person with mental or physical disability shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life and fine.”

    The judge also awarded a 14-year jail term for another offense of sexual abuse (in the same case) under section 377-B of the PPC and imposed a fine of Rs1 million.

    Section 377-B of the PPC states, “Whoever commits the offence of sexual abuse shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years and liable to fine which shall not be less than five hundred thousand rupees or with both.”

    Imran, who was on bail, was present in the court when the judge announced the guilty verdict. The judge got him arrested and ordered the police to shift him to Kot Lakhpat jail.

    Rapist manages to escape after assaulting minor girl in Islamabad

    A man sexually assaulted an eight-year-old Afghan girl in Islamabad’s Shahzad Town area, managing to escape after the heinous crime despite the presence of neighborhood residents.

    As per initial reports, the suspect escaped in the presence of Mohalla Diprian residents. The minor victim was shifted to a hospital where a medico-legal official confirmed the rape.

    A case was registered against the unidentified rapist under sections 376 and 377/B of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s father.

    The victim told her family that she was playing near her house when a stranger dragged her to an under-construction building and sexually abused her.

    Police have constituted teams to find the suspect.

    Two young sisters kidnapped, raped for four months

    Two young sisters were kidnapped, kept in confinement and then raped for four months allegedly by a landlord and his employee.

    The horrifying incident took place in the Khaur police station area of Pindigheb town in Attock.

    According to the survivors’ father, who is a labourer, his 16-year-old and 18-year-old daughters were abducted by the local landlord and his personal employee four months ago.

    He said that the suspect kept his daughters in illegal confinement and raped them. Later, the girls escaped from confinement, reached their home and narrated the whole incident.

    After a medical examination by the police, it was confirmed that the teenagers were raped, which led to the registration of a case against the suspects.

    However, no arrest has been made so far.

    In Lahore, another incident took place where a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then murdered. The murdered girl allegedly went swimming at a pool with her brother and five-year-old sister.

    The police are investigating the case.

  • Teen arrested for raping his mentally-challenged cousin

    A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his mentally-challenged 14-year-old cousin in Rajasthan, India, the police revealed the information on Wednesday, reports The Print. The incident happened on June 5.

    According to the police, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted his minor cousin while she was playing near her house.

    The girl’s mother saw the accused committing the heinous act. However, the survivor’s family kept quiet for a couple of weeks due to social pressure, the police said.

    Later, on June 21, the family lodged a case against the accused. Subsequently, the man was arrested within 18 hours of the First Information Report (FIR) registration.
