    Is Juggun Kazim related to ASP Shehrbano? TV host clarifies


    Television host and actress Juggan Kazim has cleared the air regarding claims about her relation to celebrity cop ASP Shehrbano Naqvi.  


    ASP Naqvi has time and again made headlines since after going viral for saving a woman from a religiously charged mob in Lahore earlier this year. With the cop repeatedly being the subject of several discussions over the internet, a recent claim suggested that she was related to Kazim. 


    Appearing as a guest on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Kazim addressed the claims and also spoke of her husband’s association with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, whom ASP Naqvi has also served as a personal staff officer. 


    “So, I want to make one thing clear, there is no relation between me and my husband with ASP Shehrbano. I met her for the first time on my morning show,” Kazim said, adding that people also always assumed that the couple was connected to Mohsin Naqvi. 

    “I have never met the gentleman, and I’m not related to him. I have nothing bad to say about him,” she said. Kazim further explained that she preferred to focus on entertainment rather than political discussions.  


    “I came here to share my opinions about entertainment and not engage in political discussions. I am involved in entertainment, so please let me stay on that,” Juggan said.
    “People always assume. They say Mohsin Naqvi is my husband’s brother… why is my 18-year career being questioned?” 


    The Hadsa actress also recalled her experience at Mohsin Naqvi’s Channel 24 where she worked for six months before being forced to resign due to the same assumptions. 

     
    “For six months, I worked at 24 News, and everyone said I got the job because of my relations with Mohsin Naqvi. I had to resign because people were saying I was working there because of my connections. How many times should I listen to these things?” Juggan asked. 


    The podcast comes weeks after Kazim made headlines for sharing details of physical abuse during her first marriage, revealing how she was mistreated and why she kept it hidden for years.  


    “I was physically abused and tortured during my first marriage, which lasted for 1.5 years. I got married within a week of falling for my first husband who started assaulting me in the third week of our marriage,” she said in another podcast. 


    Reflecting on her past, she added, “I ignored the warning signs, and that was a mistake. Abuse often starts with hurtful words. I should have taken action when he first hit me, but I was too blinded by his charm. I made a mistake by marrying him secretly. I was attracted by his good looks.”

    The turbulent story of govt’s aspirational constitutional amendments

    Amid the undetermined delay of the incumbent federal government’s proposed twenty-sixth constitutional amendment package, the past days have been tumultuous for both the Upper and Lower House of parliament.

    To every government effort to pass the constitutional amendments package, the opposition put up resistance, ultimately pushing the coalition government to back foot. Chief Jamiat Ulema Islam- Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman remains the decision-maker, despite having only five Senate votes.

    The story started when Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) bigwigs, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar were tasked to convince Fazlur Rehman to vote for the controversial constitutional amendments, prominent journalist Ansar Abbasi told Geo News.

    Government sources revealed that the government called National Assembly (NA) and Senate meetings without any deal with JUIF Chief Rehman, which ultimately failed.

    A PML-N source has disclosed that it has become difficult for the government to convince Rehman over the proposed amendments, but the government will make every effort to bring him on board.

    The leader of PML-N unveiled a government plan to pass the controversial amendments in the upcoming fifteen days.

    He further said that the current federal government led by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif couldn’t afford to delay the amendments, adding the probability of awarding two Senate seats to JUI-F over its consent to the constitutional package.

    Fazlur Rehman had remarked that government has not shared the constitutional package draft with any party including his, “It is a sensitive issue which should be discussed calmly,” he said.

    Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Omer Ayub Khan had stated, “They (the government) have no draft with them, and they did not know what to discuss.”

    Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf declared the constitutional package “a serious piece of legislation” and advised the government not to act hastily.

    The chief of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), Akhtar Mengal, had disclosed that two party senators were being pressurised to vote in favour of a “constitutional package”, a set of proposed amendments tabled by the government.

    Meanwhile, incarcerated former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that new constitutional amendments will jeopardise the country’s future.

    Talking to journalists in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said that the formation of a new Federal Constitutional Court is being considered as the incumbent government fears the Supreme Court (SC).

    He stated, “The purpose of constitutional amendments is to keep me in jail; rulers have decided to destroy the judiciary.”

    He further stated, “Sitting members in government don’t want to perceive the judiciary as independent.”

    Responding to controversial proposed constitutional amendments, he alleged that the money and properties of those proposing the amendments are outside the country.

    Criticising the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, he said, “The incumbent government wanted to destroy judiciary by reinstating CJP Isa.”

    On Monday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui has confirmed that the government’s late-night hustling and manoeuvring to get JUI-F president Fazal ur Rehman onboard to pass the constitutional amendments have failed, and the amendments have been postponed indefinitely.

    However, The proposed constitutional package formulated by the federal government contained fifty-four suggestions, has been revealed.

    According to the constitutional amendments draft, article 63 (A) of the constitution states that a member vote against the direction of the parliamentary party will be counted, Geo News reported.

    Article 17 suggests establishing a Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), and Article 175 proposes changing the judge’s appointment method.

    The draft proposals suggests that an eight-member National Assembly Committee will send the names of top senior judges to the Prime Minister (PM) for the position of Chief Justice (CJ) of the Federal Constitutional Court. The committee will then choose one CJ out of three recommended names, ruling out the scenario of the most senior judge as CJ.

    However, the first CJ of the FC Court will be appointed by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the President will appoint the first Constitutional Court judges after consulting with the Chief Justice.

    The retirement age of CJ FC Court will be sixty-eight years, and a Supreme Court judge will be appointed for a three-year term in FCC as a judge.

    The draft also read that the Suo Motu authority will be withdrawn from the High Court.

    The Federal Interior Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi came under fire in both houses of parliament after the country lost badly to Bangladesh in a two-match Test series in Rawalpindi.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Syed Ali Zafar stated, “There is only one reason for the disaster, and that is when you appoint an incompetent head of an institution. Not only the institution is destroyed, but all the work done by the institution is spoiled.”

    Meanwhile, Senator Saifullah Abro lashed out at Naqvi over his earlier statement about Balochistan in which he said that a single SHO could deal with terrorism in the province.

    “If it is so, then we may acquire services of 40 SHOs to handle four provinces, AJK, GB, and 36 ministries.”

    The Senator also wondered why the federal capital was shut down if the Pakistani team performed like it did.

    Senator Manzoor Ahmad reminded the House that the nation expects much more from players who are paid Rs4 to 6 million in monthly salaries besides other incentives, and called for Naqvi’s resignation.

    “The issue raised is of the entire nation. The talk here has been about his role as an administrator and a professional but not as a senator. It is a matter of the nation’s prestige. Unfortunately, youngsters have stopped watching cricket as they are so disappointed with the team’s performance,” remarked Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

    Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s X account chided Naqvi in a long post, saying, “He [Mohsin Naqvi] was given this position by none other than the “Big Boss” himself, and now he has annihilated cricket. The Pakistan Cricket Team suffered a whitewash at the hands of Bangladesh. What can be a worse defeat than that?”

    Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi has claimed that extensive operations are not required to fight against militants and that they can be dealt with by a Station House Officer (SHO).

    Later, however, when a journalist questioned his statement, he clarified that it was “symbolic.

    Responding to the inquiry of militants challenging the state, Naqvi said, “Militants assaulted secretly and conspiringly.”

    He asserted that there is no science required to counter these militants; “they are terrorists, and our civil armed forces, armed forces, and police know how to combat them”.

    Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti remarked, “Terrorists find an inch of the road out of four thousand kilometre road and kill innocents.”

    “Militants attack the softest target after finding the weakest place,” he stated.

    Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has been clear that the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, however, the match schedules may be changed or tinkered with. PCB is in touch with the security agencies in this regard.

    In a press conference in Lahore on Monday he said, “Four to five months will be difficult because the grounds are being built, but the work will be completed before the Champions Trophy. The initial work will be completed before the Trophy, and the remaining work will be completed after the Champions Trophy. We are in talks with the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If they give us a stadium, we will also work on it. The stadium in New York was also completed in the last ten days.”

    He pointed out that construction work is going on day and night. “Renovating the stadiums is a big challenge. Unlike the world’s stadiums, Pakistan’s stadiums are substandard and far behind the world.”

    “A new stadium has been built in Islamabad. We are in touch with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the renovation of the grounds. The renovation work was completed before the arrival of the ICC delegation for the Champions Trophy.”

    The Champion Trophy is scheduled to be played in March 2025 in Pakistan, with Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi hosting the mega event.

    Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a surprise visit to Kahna police station in Islamabad, where he found drunkards sleeping in one of the rooms.

    Geo News reported that Naqvi reached Kahna police station without informing police officials. There, he found investigating officers absent from the room where petitioners were seated. Upon inquiring about why the officers were absent, the sub-inspector could not answer any of his questions.

    The interior Minister visited the front desk and lockup cell and asked questions about the cases of arrested people. He also expressed disgust over the smell of cigarette smoke in the front desk room.

    In one of the rooms, he found two sleeping drunkards, and the interior minister tried to wake them up but couldn’t.

    Mohsin Naqvi was angry upon seeing the condition of the police station and also suggested that there is no justification for parking so many motorcycles there; most should be returned to the owners.

    The Interior Minister ordered the release of the four people arrested on charges of parking their cart in the wrong place after completing the necessary legal process.

    Naqvi asked to address the requests of all the petitioners instead of making them wait that long.

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, is set to take over the presidency of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

    Naqvi’s two-year tenure will begin in January 2025, a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s influence in regional cricket administration.

    The ACC President is appointed based on a rotation policy among member states. The current board president, Jay Shah, was given a one-year extension in January 2024.

    Apart from the role of PCB Chairman, he also serves as the Interior Minister of Pakistan. He will manage three key portfolios with his upcoming chairmanship at the ACC.

    A formal announcement confirming Naqvi’s presidency is expected at the next ACC meeting in October-November.

    Talking informally to the media in Lahore, Naqvi said, “People are asking for surgery.” The word is a reference to his own statement where he said massive surgery is required for the national team. “I never take any decision in anger, hasty decisions are often harmful. Head coach Gary Kirsten has submitted a report; in it he gave detailed information about the World Cup performance. Gary Kirsten and Azhar Mehmood have been called for a discussion.”

    The PCB head then revealed that he is in touch with former cricketers, taking advice from them for improving cricket. “They, whose livelihood is not talking on various TV channels, will spot the real issues.”

    He went on to reveal that a former cricketer has given a detailed report. “I will not make decisions after seeing social media posts. PCB is not running on social media posts. It doesn’t matter if you post against PCB or me.”

    On improving the national team, he said, “While looking at things with patience, it is also a challenge to improve things within the PCB. The people inside the PCB show one thing, and the truth on the ground is something else.”

    After the national team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup, Mohsin Naqvi announced a major surgery in the team.

    Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has been harshly criticised by social media for posting a Tweet about Karachi’s famous Waheed Kabab while the law and order situation deteriorates across the country.

    On Friday afternoon, Naqvi took to X (formerly Twitter) to write: “Just had an extraordinary dinner at Waheed’s on Burns Road, Karachi! The dhaaga kebabs were simply divine. A huge thank you to Minister Ali Hassan for the fantastic company and making the evening memorable.”

    He also added a photo of himself at the famous food vendor.

    The tweet was flooded with quote RTs and replies reminding him of incidents that had happened in quick succession.

    Digital rights activist Usama Khilji wrote:
    “People being lynched to death from police custody – police arresting people for qurbani on Eid – and the tone deaf interior minister of Pakistan is posting about how he enjoyed divine kababs in Karachi. Resign @MohsinnaqviC42 if you can’t do your job.”

    Economist Uzair Younus didn’t mince his words either, writing, “Part-time interior minister having a meal while an entire community in the country was prevented from celebrating Eid.

    A man was also lynched over a blasphemy allegation.

    To top it off, part-time PCB chairman oversaw a catastrophic World Cup campaign for men’s cricket team.”

    Other netizens also asked him to do his job.

    In a post, one of the X users wrote, “You are Interior Minister and internal peace and security is your responsibility. Just wanted to remind you that”.

    Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari has approached Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for immediate help to deal with the protests that occurred at grid stations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday.

    Owais Leghari expressed concern in a written letter to Mohsin Naqvi that the local police are not registering cases against the responsible individuals.

    The chief executive officer of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) confirmed in his submitted report that such incidents are happening in Mardan, Charsadda, Tank, Bannu and Peshawar.

    “Provincial assembly members and others gave illegal orders to grid station staff regarding power restoration,” the letter read.

    Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur entered the grid station and restored the power supply, declaring his own loadshedding plan.

    “No area will face loadshedding beyond 12 hours. Assembly members should visit grid stations in their respective areas to ensure compliance with the load-shedding schedule,” Gandapur stated while warning the federal government about the loadshedding issue.
