    Founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Monday strongly criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and the federal interior minister Mohsin Naqvi saying, “Naqvi is the biggest beneficiary of favouritism.”

    Khan was responding to Naqvi’s remarks about the need for “surgery” in the national cricket team after its poor performance in the Pakistan vs India T-20 match.

    Khan also condemned the government over the deteriorating security situation in the country saying, “Our soldiers are being martyred, and robberies are occurring in Islamabad, yet they do not care.”

    The former Prime Minister also alleged that efforts are being made to silence him and cover up election rigging, chastising the authorities for action against PTI leaders across Punjab for holding conventions.

    Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi visited Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore late on Tuesday night, prompting speculation on the reason for the surprise visit.

    The head of PCB reviewed ongoing work on upgrading Gaddafi Stadium Lahore last night and expressed displeasure over the closure of upgrade work in the stadium.

    Naqvi had previously ordered teams to work 24 hours a day to speed up the work. He said, “This big project can be completed on time only by working 24 hours a day. Ensure the early drainage of the water accumulated under the main building of the stadium due to the burst pipe.”

    Chairman PCB noted that more resources needed to be mobilized to complete the upgradation work of the stadium before the Champions Trophy.

    Pakistan is hosting Champions Trophy 2025. PCB has also sent the final schedule of the tournament to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for approval.

    Pakistanis seeking asylum in foreign countries will not receive passports

    The federal Ministry of Interior has decided on Tuesday not to issue passports to Pakistanis who have requested asylum or are already living on asylum in foreign countries, citing security concerns.

    The ministry sent a letter to relevant authorities asking them not to issue travel documents to asylum seekers.

    According to the ministry’s notification, previously issued passports will be suspended and not renewed.

    The Director General Passports issued the notification on Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s directions.

    The Foreign Ministry and other relevant authorities have also received copies of the notification.

    According to data issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),  almost 40,618 Pakistanis applied for asylum in 2022.

    Most Pakistani asylum seekers are currently based in Italy, Austria, and Canada.

    Some of them are in the United States of America, as almost 1477 individuals fled away from Pakistan to the USA in 2022.

    Pakistan was the fifth most represented country, with 5342 immigrants arriving in Europe; however, the number of Pakistani asylum seekers in Greece didn’t increase from 2022 to 2023.

    Leg-spinner Usama Mir has sent a direct message to Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi upon not getting a place in the T20 World Cup squad, Geo has reported.

    Selectors and senior team managers are unhappy with Usama Mir, deciding not to issue the No Objections Certificate (NOC) for leagues, even after PCB promised to do so.

    Mir was not selected in the Pakistan sent a message to the Chairman PCB emphasizing that he took the most wickets in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but he has not been selected in World Cup Squad, and has not been given NOC for T20 blast.

    When the selectors and senior manager Wahab Riaz were informed about Usama Mir’s action, a video conference was held in Ireland in which all the selectors and Usama Mir participated.

    The spinner sought permission from the selectors and Wahab Riaz to play the league in England, where he was assured that he would be given NOC for the league.

    However, now Usama Mir has gone to England, but the NOC has not been given to him yet.

    According to PCB, the bowler has not been given the NOC due to two league limit. Usama Mir has played two leagues in the cycle from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur can play a significant role in engagement between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the establishment, The News’ senior journalist Ansar Abbasi has reported.

    Informed sources told The News that Gandapur’s behaviour was entirely different to his usual outspoken self during the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) meeting, as compared to his attitude while addressing public gatherings.

    He behaved very calmly during his interaction with the federal government, The News reported on Tuesday.

    On Monday, during a joint press conference along with the interior minister Mohsin Naqvi and power minister Owais Leghari, Gandapur stressed that his political activities should be kept separate from his administrative duties. He further stated in a presser that he is ready to work with the federal government to resolve the issues faced by KP.

    The chief minister also conveyed the message of PTI founder Imran Khan: “We do not have any conflict with institutions, there is no disagreement with the governor’s policy, and we will have to negotiate on the issues and rights of the province.” 

    “He is cooperative, he positively takes part in discussions on issues of national interest and never engages in any sort of conflict,” a source who has attended a few such federal-level meetings revealed about the conduct of the KP chief minister.

    ASP Shehar Bano has been appointed as the personal security officer of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

    Naqvi will perform duties as PSO of Mohsin Naqvi, says the notification issued by the Ministry of Interior.

    She was previously working as Assistant Director of the Intelligence Bureau.

    In February 2024, Shahar Bano Naqvi came to the limelight by saving a woman from an angry mob in Lahore for which she garnered praise from public and governmental quarters.

    Shehar Bano Naqvi joined the police service after clearing the CSS exam in 2019.

    The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has stopped the announcement of the national squad for the T20 World Cup.

    According to Geo sources, Mohsin Naqvi has expressed displeasure over the selection process of the national team.

    Sources say that Naqvi did not object to the names of the players but was unhappy over the lack of regular meetings. Naqvi has sought an answer from the selection committee through a letter.

    The minutes of any meeting for the selection of the team were not delivered to the Chairman, on which he took notice of the matter while expressing displeasure.

    The national team for the T20 World Cup will not be announced until the selection process is completed.

    All teams participating in T20 World cup have announced thier squad. According to International Cricket Council (ICC), May 24 is deadline for the squad announcement for T20 World Cup.

    Asif claimed that according to his sources, Interior Minister of Pakistan Mohsin Naqvi might be leaving the ministry portfolio.

    Journalist Asif Bashir Chaudhry said some other sources have also confirmed, “Rana Sanaullah’s name is being seriously considered for this [Interior Minister].”

    Chaudhry stated, “Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and coalition parties have objected to the fact that despite being the interior minister of the country, he [Mohsin Naqvi] does not defend party’s policies.”

    Asif further explained, “The job of the interior minister is to defend, explain, elaborate, and discuss the government policy decisions which is not happening at the moment.”

    Journalist Asif Bashir also stated that some friendly countries have also objected to Naqvi’s conduct with them.

    Azaz Syed said he thinks there is a very low probability of this happening although he credited his story.

    Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said on Thursday that he and his wife declared their properties a decade ago. Naqvi, a media baron who became Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister and now also holds the coveted position of Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stressed that there is nothing new in the “Dubai unlocked” project. 

    Naqvi revealed that his wife not only owns properties in Dubai but also in the United Kingdom (UK).

    He gave a detailed response to the Dubai leaks in a press conference in Lahore after the leaked property records named several prominent personalities in Pakistan, including government officials, politicians, military generals, and other individuals.

    He also said that it is necessary for the national media to report about major developments, but portraying that someone owned property with illegal means is wrong.
    The former caretaker chief minister of Punjab also stated that he was not in any official position 10 to 12 years ago, but he had properties at that time as well.

    Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has said that no one is accepting defeat in the first match against Ireland and that after Ireland and England, the real test is the World Cup.

    Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi held a two hour meeting with the national players in Dublin on the team’s strategy.

    Mohsin Naqvi said, “T20 cricket has a completely different and aggressive approach, victory will be possible only by playing according to the modern and new style of T20 cricket. Strategy can be made sitting in the room, but the real test is on the field,” adding that, “undoubtedly all the players are talented, professional and excellent, the bowling attack is excellent but fielding needs a lot of attention. The Pakistani nation loves cricket and the nation has expectations from its players.”

    The second match of the three-match T20 series will be played today.

    In the first match, Ireland defeated Pakistan by five wickets on Friday.
