    ‘Its Bhatt, became Butt due to Punjabi dialect’: Muneeb Butt makes a revelation about his caste

    Actor Muneeb Butt in his recent interview with host Tabish Hashmi, made some revelations about his caste. The Daldal star stated that his cast, pronounced as ‘Butt’ in Pakistan, is originally Bhatt. However when the Kashmiris migrated to Pakistani Punjab from India, the caste name became Butt from Bhatt due to the Punjabi dialect.

    “Originally it is Bhatt, not Butt, when Kashmiris migrated here, the name became Butt. People in Punjab pronounce words differently, such as bhai (brother) became paen. They don’t use B and H together.”

    Earlier in an interview with Waseem Badami did not hesitate to call out the government, which promised to give a Rs 2,000 monthly subsidy to all citizens earning less than Rs40,000.

    Shedding light on inflation, the Qarar hero had a hilarious response to what the government has to offer to the needy. He joked sarcastically and said he will marry off his daughter with that Rs2,000.

    In June 2022, Butt took to his Twitter handle to slam the ruling party after another increase in petrol prices.

    He also termed PML-N as a “weak party”.

    The Baandi hero also slammed writer and former journalist, Reham Khan on twitter amidst her recent controversy with actor Mishi Khan.

    Butt sarcastically told her that he wants to cast her as naagin (snake) in his forthcoming serial.

    Female suicide bomber is a double masters, mother of two: Who is Shari Baloch?

    The 30-year-old Shari Baloch committed a suicide bombing near the Confucius Institute of Karachi University on April 26. In the suicide attack, she targeted four people including Chinese nationals and a van driver, reports Independent Urdu.

    She was an educated woman who belonged from Kech, Balochistan. She had been with Balochistan Students Organisation-Azad (BSO Azad) since college. She later joined the separatist movement of the Majeed Brigade of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). She completed her master’s degree in education from Allama Iqbal Open University in 2014

    However, as per Urdu news reported that he completed a bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed) in 2014 and earned a Master’s degree in education in 2018. Later, she also earned a master’s degree in Zoology. As per her allegedly Twitter account, she has done M.Phil in education as well. She was married to a doctor and have two children together, one son and a daughter. She was teaching in a government school in Balochistan but the school did not confirm it yet.

    Her relative revealed to a reporter that most of the family members are part of the bureaucracy.

    According to her relative, “It is being said on social media that some members of Shari Baloch’s family went missing so she took such a step to take revenge but not a single person in her family has gone missing to date. She was ideologically committed to it, so maybe she took such a step.”

    Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Raja Umar Khattab also confirmed that it was the suicide attack that was carried out by a female clad-in-burqa. Police also released CCTV footage in which Shari Baloch was standing near the gate of the Confucius Institute. She blew up when a van was about to enter the institute at 1:52 pm.

    Four people lost their lives including three Chinese nationals and a driver while three people survived from injuries including Ranger personnel, one Chinese national, and a security guard. The injured people were taken to a nearby hospital

    The deceased three Chinese nationals are identified as Prof. Huang GuiPing, Ding Mufang, and Chen Sai while Wang Yuqing received injuries.

    Later, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) took the responsibility for the suicide attack near the Confucius Institute.

    A spokesperson of BLA spokesman said, “Shari joined the Majeed Brigade two years ago and six months ago she confirmed that she was determined to carry out the attack. She has been active in her mission ever since.”

    A tweet from her husband, Habitan Bashir Baloch also came to light for appreciating his wife’s selfless act.

    He penned down, “Shari Jan, your selfless act has left me speechless but I am also beaming with pride today. Mahroch and Meer Hassan will grow into very proud humans thinking what a great woman their mother was. You will continue to remain an important part of our lives.

    “The police had received reports regarding security threats to Chinese nationals and security was also provided to them, however, no intelligence report of suicide attack through a female bomber was received,” the top police official said while speaking on Geo News program Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath.

    China has strongly condemned the recent suicide attack on Karachi University and extended deep condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims.

    In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “The government of the People’s Republic of China expresses strong condemnation and indignation over this major terrorist attack and extends deep condolences to the victims and sympathies to the injured and bereaved families.”

    Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Jianghao called the Pakistan Ambassador to China Moinul Haque and demanded that Pakistan should immediately make a thorough investigation into the tragic incident, and apprehend and punish the perpetrators to the full extent of the law. “We expect that Pakistan will take all possible measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens living across Pakistan and to avoid the recurrence of such cowardice incidents happening again.”

    Moin ul Haque, in a message, said, “The entire nation is in shock and mourns the loss of these precious lives including our Chinese friends.”

    Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif also visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad after the incident to offer condolence over the incident.

    PM said, “The blood of the Chinese people should not be shed in vain, and those behind this incident will surely pay the price.”

    PKR 1.5m needed: Snooker champion Ahsan Ramzan criticises govt’s attitude

    Snooker Champion Ahsan Ramzan has expressed disappointment over the non-supportive behaviour of the government officials in a recent interview given to Geo News. He was the first youngest Pakistani who won the IBSF World Snooker Championship by defeating the Iranian player last month in Qatar.

    Ahsan is living in a room inside the club where he receives training in Lahore. He believes that support from the government departments will give more time to focus on sports.

    In a Geo News interview, he said, “I have not received any support from the government so far. However, the government has now changed which is why I’m hopeful that they will support me as they did with former champion Muhammad Asif in the past.”

    He further added, “I want a job from a department so that I can focus on snooker with a steady income,” he said. “If that doesn’t happen, I will be forced to start a business which will make it difficult for me to focus on the sport.”

    Ahsan Ramzan is considering participating in Asia-Oceania Q School if he did not receive any financial support from the Pakistan government. However, he appealed that he needs PKR 1.5 million as sponsorship to get enrolled in school.

    Asia-Oceania Q School 2022 will commence on June 1 in Bangkok, Thailand. The finalists who will earn a two-year card to the World Snooker Tour will play two tournaments. In total, four players will be awarded a place on the professional circuit for the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.

    Interested players who are residing in Asia and Oceania can participate in the event with an entry fee of £400.

  • Customer kills butcher over selling expensive meat

    A customer killed a butcher following a heated argument over selling meat at a high price in the Gojra Road area of Jhang City, reports ARY News.

    According to the initial media reports, the man got into an argument with the butcher over the sale of meat at an exorbitant price. The argument heated up and in the meanwhile, the customer stabbed the butcher to death.

    The assailant ran away from the scene while the police shifted the dead body to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. Following the incident, butchers of area staged a protest against killing of their fellow and demanded the police to bring the culprit to the book forthwith.

  • 15-month-old in NWA: Pakistan reports first polio case in 15 months

    The first wild poliovirus case was detected in a 15-month-old baby boy from North Waziristan, Pakistan. It is the third case to have been reported worldwide during the ongoing year 2022.

    The National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad has confirmed the type-1 wild poliovirus (WPV1) in a toddler from North Waziristan. The NIH polio eradication laboratory also confirmed another case from the Bannu district in KP, which was detected in the environmental samples collected on April 5. Both viruses detected in the samples are closely related to each other.

    Pakistan reported the polio case in the country 15 months after the previous poliovirus case was reported on January 28, last year from the Killa Abdullah area of Balochistan.

    Secretary Health Aamir Ashraf said, “This is, of course, a tragedy for the child and his family and it is also very unfortunate both for Pakistan and polio eradication efforts all over the world. We are disappointed but not deterred.” He further added, “The case has appeared in Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) where the poliovirus was detected in the environment late last year and where an emergency action plan is already being implemented.”

    According to Anti-Polio Programme, Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has badly been affected by the poliovirus after detection from the environmental samples in the last quarter of 2021. The samples of the virus were found in Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu divisions last year.

    The Health Secretary also revealed that teams have deployed to conduct detailed interrogation into the case detected in North Waziristan. The emergency immunization campaigns are continued to prevent further outbreaks of poliovirus in the country.

    Talking about the issue, National Emergency and Operations Centre (NEOC) Coordinator Dr Shahzad Baig said, “To address the challenges in Southern KP, the Pakistani government and its global partners have already initiated an emergency action plan to address the challenges in this part of the province.”

    The province had reported as many as 22 cases of poliovirus in 2020. However, there was no wild-type virus among the detected case in KP province.

This game show is based on the seven teams from different cities and each has a celebrity captain. In each team, the audience plays the game under the captain’s leadership. The winner’s team gets grand prizes. This year, the program has added one more team, Gujranwala Bulls. The concept of teams is similar to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Some team captains are led by cricket players such as Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

    Game Show Aisay Chalay Ga Ramazan League

    This game show was launched in December 2018 and was hosted by actor Nabeel Zafar. Now it is being hosted by actor Danish Taimoor. The Friday episode of this game show has gotten around 66,000 views with approximately 2300 likes till April 22. In this game, all teams consist of young social media influencers mainly from the TikTok platform. Besides social media teams, audiences also get involved in several games such as the tug of war segment.

  • ‘Don’t use supplements’, Pakistan Olympic Association warns athletes

    The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has issued a warning to athletes against using sports supplements following Talha Talib’s positive doping test case, reports Samaa.

    Secretary POA Medical Commission, Dr Asad Abbas warned that such supplements could deteriorate the health of athletes, saying that consumption of these performance-enhancing supplements could lead to the death of athletes.

    Dr Abbas said: “Athletes should not use unfair means to win competitions as it could lead to a four-year ban. Performance-enhancing drugs are dangerous for a player’s health and could lead to death.”

    He also revealed that the Talha Talib case is not yet reached the Pakistan Olympic Association. Awareness against doping in Pakistan has also been started ahead of Common Wealth Games this year. He also warned to stay away from prohibited activities as it could defame the country.

    “Athletes in Pakistan should be careful about doping because such incidents bring the country’s name into disrepute while also ending their careers,” he concluded.

    Portuguese footballer, Christiano Ronaldo has shared his grievance over the loss of his newborn baby boy. He announced the demise of the baby boy on Twitter late Monday. However, his other twin daughter survived.

    “Twenty-eight years ago I was abandoned in a baby carriage at the Edhi Orphanage located in Karachi, Pakistan. You found me, you named me after your mother Rabia Bano, you forged my identity, then you gave me a home. Because of you today…I am a somebody, I have an identity, and I have loving parents to call my own,” Rabia wrote.

    She also admired the activism of late Bilquis for women’s rights and empowerment. She dedicated her success journey to the late philanthropist. She had given an opportunity to Rabia to lead an independent life and aspiration to become a successful woman.

    She continued, “Because of you, a little Pakistani girl orphaned at birth dared to dream. Because of you, I am an independent woman with graduate-level education and a place in the world to call my own. You gave me an opportunity.
