Celebs express love for moms on Mother’s Day

As Mother’s Day comes to pass, celebrities are using social media to show love for their moms, including actors, models, and musicians.
One common theme in their posts is talking about family love. Veteran actress Nadia Jamil wrote a heartfelt letter to her mom along with a montage of pictures, set to a Bollywood song.

In her post, she talked about how strong and brave her mom is. “Happy Mother’s Day to my rock, where my strength began from, where my life began from,” she joyously expressed. “My friend, confidant, the most generous, forgiving, loving woman I know, one of the most, beyond beautiful women to have lived on this planet.”
She continued, “I love you Ma. Here’s to healing and learning and unlearning and to the adventure of life still left for us to enjoy together. With Aba, Baba Zain, Nana, Nani, Puchi Khala, all watching us. Please say a prayer for the health and happiness of my best friend… my Ma.”

Meanwhile, music icon Faisal Kapadia shared a sweet post on Instagram to celebrate Mother’s Day. One picture shows him as a child in his mother’s arms, while another shows his wife Seema with their two sons, Armaan and Gibran. In the caption, Faisal wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day!”

Singer Zoe Viccaji celebrated Mother’s Day by posting a cute picture with her daughter. They both had matching butterfly-themed face paints and smiled at the camera. Zoe wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there,” in a short note.

Joining the Mother’s Day celebration trend, Shaniera Akram shared a loving picture representing maternal love through the generations. She posted photos with her husband, former cricketer Waseem Akram, and their three children, two of them from the cricketer’s marriage to his late wife. Shaniera happily wrote, “My children are what makes my life full. I am blessed to have these three.”

She also said, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, stepmoms, grandmas, new moms, mothers-in-law, and those who we keep in our hearts.” Moms are always there for us, giving hugs when we’re tired or saying comforting words when things get tough. They show endless love and care. So, while Mother’s Day is a special time to say thanks, let’s remember to appreciate and honor moms every day for everything they do for us.

  • Mother’s Day: Here’s what you can do to make your mother feel special without spending money

Every year the second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day and this year Mother’s Day will be celebrated on May 9, which is just around the corner.

While mothers should be celebrated every day for their selfless love and sacrifices, Mother’s Day gives us a chance to make them feel even more special. The day holds significant importance as it gives us a chance to show our mother how much we love her. However, showing love can sometimes get tricky – sometimes you don’t have the right words and other times you just don’t know how to show it.

Here is the list of the things you can do to make your mother feel special this Mother’s Day
Watch something with her that she loves

Whether it’s an old movie, or it’s a drama serial she loves or it is a cooking show she does not miss, turn on the TV and watch it together. If you are watching a show or a movie talk to her about her favorite characters and ask her what she loves most about them. It will make her feel special that you are taking interest in what she loves.

    Teach her something new

There is no age of learning and anyone can learn anything at any stage of life. You can teach your mother anything she struggles with, for example, if she is not comfortable with technological devices you can show her how to use them. It is very common to lose patience while teaching something so remember not to lose your patience.

Go through old pictures and albums with her

Sit with your mother and take out an old album or pictures of her younger self. Looking at her old pictures will give a chance to your mother to revisit her old times with you, and will also help you understand her better way, which will eventually lead to a stronger bond between you two.

    Cook for her

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach but honestly, the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach. So get into some action and cook a great meal for her. If you don’t know how to cook you can always take help from the internet.

    Talk to her

Last but not the least, take out the time to talk to her. Sometimes we take the most basic of things for granted, and having an honest conversation is one of them. Being heard is one of the greatest feelings in the world and makes the other person feel special. Try putting down your phone, make a cup of coffee or tea anything your mother prefers and be a good listener.

Do whatever you think will make your mother special, but anything you do should revolve around her – do not make it about yourself.

  • Last minute ideas for Mother’s Day

Last minute ideas for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is this Sunday. While you don’t really need a day to appreciate your mother, it is that one day of the year when the whole world comes together to celebrate the blessing that is a mother. Some of you might have prepared in advance for what to give your Mom, but most of us are just sitting here and thinking “Damn, I thought I’d be better prepared this year.” But fear not, The Current has got your back. We’ve prepared an exciting list of things you can gift your Mom on this special day and put a smile on her face.

    Flowers

Finding the perfect Mother’s Day gift can be tricky if you’re on a budget. In that case, how can you tell her how much she means to you without breaking the bank? Don’t stress yet! You can buy her a beautiful bouquet which will not only brighten up her room but her mood as well.

    Take her out for Iftari

Our mothers are usually the ones who ensure that the table is laid out with our favourite food on aftar every day for. So how about you turn the tables around this time and take her out for a fancy aftari to her favourite restaurant? Tell her to dress up and wear her favourite lawn jora for this aftar date. This way you not only get her to relax for a few hours, but you also get to spend some quality time with her, minus the madness.

    Make Iftar for her

Alternately, if your Mom is the sort of person who likes to stay at home, then its time to put on the apron and cook a meal for your Mom. And don’t forget to clean up the mess you make.

    Book her a massage

Moms deserve a luxurious break given all the work they do for us. We all know she rarely treats herself, so do it for her. Book a massage for her and make her feel relaxed.

In Lahore, our go-to place for a massage is Arammish, while in Islamabad we love Nirvana. In Karachi, Pengs has to be our favourite.

    Shopping Spree

How often do Moms indulge in themselves? Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to get your Mom that jora she has been eyeing. It’ll be great given that Eid is also coming up.

    Turn
    on the TV

Mother’s day does not have to be about spending money on gifts and dinners. You can also make her feel special by planning a movie night in and watching her favorite movie. Get some popcorn, snacks and drinks, and watch a movie at home.

If you’re in the mood to watch something new together, check out our list of ‘Netflix shows to watch with your parents‘ or ‘Pakistani films to watch on YouTube with your family.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the supermoms out there!
