    PSL 9: Multan Sultans defeats Karachi Kings by 55 runs

    In the third match of the ninth edition of Pakistan Super League, Multan Sultans easily defeated Karachi Kings by a huge margin of 55 runs.

    In the match played in Multan, Karachi Kings captain Shan Masood won the toss and invited Sultans to bat.

    Multan Sultans scored 185 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Reza Hendricks remained unbeaten with 79 runs. Apart from this, David Mallan played an innings of 52 runs off 41 balls, Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed by scoring 11 runs while Khushdil Shah was not out by scoring 28 runs.

    Mir Hamza and Daniel took one wicket each for Karachi Kings.

    In pursuit of the target of 186 runs, Karachi’s batting could not show any sufficient performance, except the experienced batsman Shoaib Malik, none of the batsmen could play well.

    Karachi Kings team could only score 130 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted overs in pursuit of the target.

    Shoaib Malik scored 53, Shaun Masood scored 30 and Kieron Pollard scored 28 runs. James Vance scored 5 runs, Mohammad Nawaz scored 7 runs.

    On behalf of Multan Sultans, Muhammad Ali dismissed 3 players, David Wali and Abbas Afridi 2.

    Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans is in the game with massive collaborations for PSL season 9. Multan has partnered with KTrade as an investment partner and Raiment 61 as official partner (Clothing Brand) for the ninth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League.

    On Wednesday, KTrade, a leading stock trading platform, formerly known as KASB, joined Multan Sultans as the official investment partner for the HBL Pakistan Super League season 9.

    On this occasion Multan Sultan’s General Manager Hijab Zahid said, “We are extremely delighted to have KTrade on board.     Today, Pakistan’s Raiment 61 (Clothing Brand) joined Multan Sultans. The franchise’s contingent will wear Raiment 61 trousers during their team dinners, travels, and other activities in the ninth edition of Pakistan Super League.

    The MOU signing ceremony takes place at The Current’s headquarters in Lahore.

    Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has partnered with clothing brand Gym ArmourPK for PSL season 9.

    Gym Armour will manufacture the playing (home and away), training, and travel apparel for Multan Sultans and will also be the official merchandise distributors.

    In a press release, Multan Sultans General Manager Hijab Zahid said, “We are delighted to be signing Gym Armour as our official merchandise partner. It is only befitting that the leading brands of the two industries have come together.

    “Our home and away kits, training gear, and travel equipment are in the final stage of production and I am very much confident that the fans of Multan Sultans and HBL PSL will love them.”

    PSL 9 trade: Iftikhar joins Multan Sultans, Rilee Rossouw moves to Quetta Gladiators

    In what is the most surprising move of the HBL Pakistan Super League 9 trade window, Multan Sultans have snapped Iftikhar Ahmed, while Rilee Rossouw has moved to Quetta Gladiators.

    The trade deal with Quetta Gladiators also sees Multan Sultans get the first pick in the platinum round one in exchange for Rilee Rossouw and the first Silver category pick.

    Iftikhar has evolved into a formidable all-rounder for his power-hitting and foxy off-spin. He brings the experience of 229 T20 matches and 4,476 runs. He also has a century in the format to go with 30 half-centuries. Since the start of his career in October 2010, the muscular batter has been smashing a boundary every 6.75 balls. He recently reached the 50-wicket landmark and his economy stands at 7.31.

    Iftikhar Ahmed said in press statment: “I am delighted to become a Sultan. It is an honor for me to represent the people of Multan as their passion for this game is second to none. Multan Sultans have evolved into a strong team and their record in the last three seasons speak for itself. Now, it is my ambition to help them bag the prestigious HBL PSL trophy.”

    Multan Sultan’s captain Muhammad Rizwan said: “I am very excited to welcome Iftikhar Ahmed. He brings outstanding all-round skills, which we need to be a champion team. He was not only his on-field skills that made us finalize this trade, but he is also a brilliant team player who uplifts dressing rooms with his presence. We are eager to put together a set of players whose skills are in sync with our positive, bold and aggressive brand of cricket.”

    Chief executive Ali Khan Tareen said: “Multan Sultans have always had experienced and aggressive batters in the middle order and that has been one of the keys to our success. With our focus on developing and protecting a domestic core, Iftikhar Ahmed aka Iftimania is the best middle order hitter in Pakistan. He adds destructive power against spin and pace and brings calmness with years of experience.”

    “I also want to thank Rilee Rossouw for giving us some incredible memories. While he will not be in our dressing room this season, we will definitely remember him for his services to the franchise.     Amidst this, Ali Tareen and Iftikhar had an interesting interaction on X (formerly Twitter).

I am sure our passionate, cricket-loving fans will be over the moon when we announce our complete retention list in due course.”

    Head coach Abdul Rehman declared it the biggest trade deal in the history of the HBL PSL.

    He further said, “I am delighted to welcome Iftikhar Ahmed to our camp. I have seen Iftikhar grow into a fabulous cricketer and considering the match-winner he has become, every coach wants to have him in his team.”

    “We will definitely miss Rilee Rossouw who has been an outstanding team player and has had a great role in taking us to where this franchise is today. Rilee was our Mr dependable and whenever we wanted him to deliver, he got the job done for us. We wish Rilee well for everything that is ahead of him.”

    Multan Sultans appointed first ever woman coach in PSL history

    For the first time in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), a woman has been appointed as a bowling coach.

    PSL team Multan Sultans has appointed former Ireland cricketer Catherine Dalton as their fast bowling coach after which she became the first woman coach in the history of PSL. Dalton is also the first female bowling coach of the men’s team at the top level. Born in England, Catherine gained Irish citizenship in 2015, playing four ODIs and four T20 Internationals.

    Catherine Dalton is an ICB Level Three Advanced Coach and has also coached at the National Fast Bowling Academy in England. Also, Kathryn worked with bowlers like India’s Deepak Chahar at the Peace Foundation.

    On being given the coaching responsibilities in the PSL, Catherine Dalton said, “I am excited to work with Multan Sultans in the PSL.”

    Multan Sultans to hire female GM for first time in PSL history

    Multan Sultans have become the first Pakistani T20 franchise to hire a female general manager after Hijab Zahid was signed on by the team.

    28-year-old Hijab Zahid is now the youngest GM in franchise history and also the only female appointed as the head of any T20 franchise in the world.

    She is currently director of Grassroots Cricket and will replace outgoing GM Haider Azhar. She has been in the director position at Grassroots Cricket since the start of this year.

    Hijab Zahid has a Masters degree in Project Management. She also served Islamabad United as media manager.

    This news was shared on X (formally known as Twitter) by Ali Tareen who has co-owned the Multan Sultan with his uncle Alamgir Khan till 2021. Now he takes full control over the franchise after the death of his uncle in July.

    Ali Tareen said ,”She is the most qualified general manager among all PSL sides”. More he said that He will also hire three female coaches before the next PSL (Pakistan Super League).
