    Divorce instead of patch-up; Mureed murders Pir after amulet failed to work

    A mureed (follower) has murdered a Pir (spiritual healer) in Faisalabad after the amulet he was given failed in reconciliation with his wife.

    Muhammad Hassan had been given an amulet by Pir Sajjad to help reconcile his relationship with his estranged wife. However, the amulet failed to do what had been promised to Hassan, leading to his marriage ending in a divorce.

    The angry mureed then murdered the Pir.

    Police have arrested Muhammad Hasan and said that he kidnapped Pir Sajid 10 days ago. After killing the Pir, Hasan threw his body into a nearby canal.

    Muhammad Hasan told the police that he donated a lot of money to the Pir for the patch-up with his wife but all the donations and amulet did not work and instead he got divorced.

    Sajid’s brother Sabir informed the police when his follower’s in-laws took his wife’s belongings from his house. “He came to our place and took Sajid with him,” the brother reportedly said.

    Local police are conducting raids to find the people who helped Hasan in the killing.

    A local court on Thursday acquitted three people including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of Sindh Assembly Jam Owais in the Nazim Jokhio murder case.

    The Additional District and Sessions court Malir announced the verdict on the applications of reconciliation between the victim’s family and the accused.

    Jam Owais and other two persons appeared in the court. The court accepted the reconciliation petition of Jam Owais, Meraj Jokhio and Ahmed Khan. The court rejected the petition of two accused for reconciliation.

    On November 3 last year, Nazim’s tortured body was found in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Jam Awais’ farmhouse in Karachi’s Malir area, a day after he filmed a group of foreigners hunting the endangered houbara bustard in Achar Salaar village in Thatta.

    According to Jokhio’s brother, Nazim had broadcast a live stream on social media of a hunting expedition involving foreign guests of PPP MPA Jam Awais, after which Jam Awais called Nazim to the house where he was allegedly murdered.

    Nazim Jokhio’s family reaches peace agreement with accused

    Nazim Jokhio’s family has submitted an affidavit in court, stating that they have reached a peace agreement with the murder accused.

    The affidavit has stated that both parties have reached an agreement. It has also been stated in the affidavit that the slain man’s family has no objection to ending the case.

    The affidavit has been submitted by Jokhio’s mother, widow, and children. After the affidavit, the court directed authorities to publish an advertisement in the newspaper regarding the legal heirs of Nazim Jokhio.

    The court has also asked National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to submit a report on the matter at the next hearing. The hearing was adjourned till October 15th.

    A seven-year-old minor girl was killed in the Karpa area of Islamabad by a female neighbour and her male accomplice.

    According to the girl’s father, his daughter was burnt and her body was dumped in a water tank. After the incident, the minor girl’s father lodged a complaint against his female neighbour and her unidentified young abettor.

    In the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant told the police that his mother and wife along with daughter Maira went to their neighbor’s house to participate in Quran Khawani.

    The minor went up to the roof. After some time, the visitors smelled something burning. When they went to the roof, they saw a burning mattress but no sign of Maira. Later, Maira’s burnt body was recovered from a water tank kept on the roof.

    The complainant said his family members saw their female neighbour and an unidentified man fleeing the scene.

    Islamabad Police Operations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has also taken notice of the incident and directed the related police officials to arrest the suspects.

    A model was killed in the name of honour in Okara, Punjab. Sidra, who was only 22, was allegedly murdered by her brother in Okara’s 51-R village. She was murdered by her brother while visiting her birthplace to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

    Police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s mother. Police have arrested the victim’s brother and have recovered the murder weapon.

    Hamza, the accused, used to forbid his sisters from modelling.

    This murder is believed to be the result of a violent argument between Sidra and her brother over the girl’s refusal to give up her modelling career.

    Qandeel Baloch, a social media star, was strangled to death in Multan in July 2016. Her brothers Waseem Azeem and Aslam Shaheen were accused of murdering her. A court in Multan sentenced her brother Wasim Azeem to life in prison for murdering his sister. Life imprisonment means 25 years in jail.

    However, this year in February, the Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) acquitted Waseem Azeem.

    Female teacher killed after 13-year old girl ‘saw’ her committing blasphemy ‘in her dream’

    In a horrific incident, female madrassa teachers have allegedly ‘slaughtered’ their fellow teacher for allegedly committing blasphemy in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, Journalist Iftikhar Firdous tweeted.

    “Female Madrassa teachers have slaughtered another female teacher from the same seminary in the street leading to the seminary this morning an official from Dera Ismail Khan has confirmed, the reason they cited has been alleged blasphemy. Two women have been arrested so far,” the tweet read.

    However, as per Dawn, three women have been arrested. According to the first information report (FIR), when police reached the location, they saw the victim lying in a pool of blood with her throat slashed.

    As per, DPO Hasnain the suspects are 17, 21 and 24 years of age. They killed the 21-year-old victim over allegations of blasphemy and “difference of opinion on religious issues.” The victim, he added, was a devotee of well-known Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel, who the accused didn’t like.

    The suspects further claim that a 13-year-old female relative witnessed a dream in which she learned of the alleged blasphemy committed by the victim and was then “ordered to slaughter her”, according to the DPO. The relative who claimed to see the dream has also been arrested.

    Pooja Kumari, an 18-year-old Hindu girl was murdered in Rohri, Sindh. As per media reports, she was shot during a failed abduction attempt. As per reports, the name of the deceased soul is Pooja Kumari Oad.

    Three men reportedly broke into Pooja’s house to kidnap and forcibly convert her. She was shot dead by a man named Wahid Bux Laghari, after she resisted a kidnapping attempt. According to journalist Sanjay Sadhwani, accused Wahid Laghari has been arrested.

    Video: Two women allegedly kill house help, hide body in a cardboard box

    A body of a female house help was discovered in a cardboard box by police in Kahna on Friday, Ary News has reported. In the CCTV footage found by the police, two women — Bushra and her daughter Irum — can be seen dragging a cardboard box, which allegedly contained the victim’s body.

    As per the police, the victim named Yasmeen worked at the house of Bushra. According to the police, the victim was first strangled and then stabbed.

    The family of the victim has alleged that Yasmeen was killed by the mother and daughter.

    Police have sent the body for a postmortem to determine the cause of death, while Bushra and her daughter have escaped. The police are conducting raids to arrest the mother and daughter duo.

  • US embassy sends ‘books, perfumes, clothes and shampoo’ for Zahir Jaffer

    The US embassy in Pakistan sent a parcel containing books, perfumes, clothes and shampoo for Zahir Zakir Jaffer, the prime suspect in Noor Mukadam case, through a courier. The courier was sent to Adiala Jail but the jail authorities refused to accept it.

    Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Arshad Warraich, told The Nation that the US Embassy had sent a courier for Zahir Zakir Jaffer but the administration returned the courier. He continued by adding that a letter was also written to the embassy by the jail administration to use the channel of Ministry of Interior in future if they want to send any thing for their citizen facing murder charges. “The parcel was returned by the jail authorities last Saturday,” he said in response to a query. 

    The Islamabad High Court will indict 12 persons in the Noor Mukadam case on October 6.

  • Father of Asma Rani pardons his daughter’s murderer

    The father of the medical student Asma Rani, who was killed in 2018, has ‘pardoned’ the murderer of his daughter, Samaa has reported.

    “They wronged my daughter but I have decided to pardon the culprit for the sake of Allah’s blessings,” said Asma’s father.

    “I was also receiving threats in connection with the case and I was also told that ‘we are in the government, so you should consent to the settlement’ but I was adamant that I will see Asma’s killer at the gallows,” Dastageer said.

    Police say Dastageer pardoned the death sentence of Mujahid Afridi at a Jirga and the formal declaration of the settlement would be announced on September 5.

    However, the the member of Marwat Qaumi Jirga has said that they had turned down the request of Asma Rani’s father to attend the meeting that will take place at Kohat’s Tableeghi Markaz, Dawn has reported.

    Timeline:

    January 2018: Asma Rani was shot dead in Kohat in January 2018 for refusing a marriage proposal. She was taken to a nearby hospital after being shot thrice. In her last video, Asma named her murderer Mujahid Afridi. The video caused outrage in the country. Later, the accused fled the country.

    March 2018: Afridi was arrested from Dubai.

    April 2018: The trial was transferred from Kohat to Peshawar on the directives of the Peshawar High Court in April 2018.

    25 June 2021: District and Sessions Court in Peshawar handed over the death sentence to Mujahid Afridi.
