‘I am not against Indian content but they don’t buy our work,’ says Nabeel Zafar

Nabeel Zafar, the versatile actor, host, and producer, recently appeared as a guest on the ‘FHM Podcast’ in which he talked about why he is a vocal opponent of Indian content being aired in Pakistan.

“I am not against Indian content but my point is, they don’t buy our work. With a population of 1.5 billion, they have a massive market, whereas we have 25 crore people. At the very least, they should buy our content in proportion to their population. Pakistanis are known for their hospitality and big hearts. Our shopkeepers don’t charge Indian visitors, and our actors have been warmly received in India. However, we need reciprocity. If we show their movies in our cinemas, they should also screen our films, even if they don’t do well. They don’t buy our dramas either; they shut down Zee Zindagi, a channel that aired Pakistani content. We have talent, but corruption has held us back. It’s time for a change.”

Naan ho ya Non: Nabeel Zafar roasts the government with naan and dhaniya

Actor Nabeel Zafar isn’t holding back when it comes to his opinions on the new 2024 government budget, which has everyone talking.

Nabeel posted a story about his views on the new financial budget with the caption, “End your perks before imposing taxes on the public, cut down on your protocols and luxuries.”

He also sarcastically joked about the budget with captioned, “Naan Faailer ko sabzi ke saath muft dhaniya nahin milay ga,” hitting back at the government’s decisions on not to let non-filers travel out of the country and other restrictions.

In another story, Nabeel posted the story, “Naan Faailer ko har do ghante baad chapriyan maarnay ka hukm, Budget (2024).”

The new financial budget was revealed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb last week and has faced severe criticism about how restrictions will be imposed on the rich.

Nabeel Zafar isn’t interested in playing father roles

Actor, director and producer Nabeel Zafar was invited as a guest on the FHM podcast.
During the podcast, the actor expressed frustration with the lack of strong and unique scripts in today’s dramas, and stated that he will only consider taking on a character if the script meets his high standards.

Talking further about not working more in dramas and not portraying the role of an on-screen father, he said, “Nowadays, it has become a trend that when a film is not successful, its script is picked up and turned into a drama. We’ve essentially turned dramas into films, which is fundamentally wrong.”

“I decline roles because I’m not interested in playing a father figure on screen. I’ve already become a father in real life, and I don’t want to portray a character who gets divorced and then remarries, or one who asks his son if he’s eaten. I can’t relate to such storylines, which is why I turn down drama offers.”
