Hania Aamir or Ayeza Khan? Who will be the ‘Perfect Fit’ for Maryam Nawaz’s role?

Everyone has their favorite actors for different roles. Some want actors who can bring the character to life, while others look for someone who resembles the character.

In an episode of Say It All with Iffar Omar, Nadeem Baig talked about who he thinks would be perfect for acting in a political film.

The host asked, “We are making a film on politics, and we are casting our current and past politicians. Now, who will play Mr. Bhutto?”

Nadeem Baig replied, “He had such an enigmatic personality, I am just thinking, which actor has a personality like Bhutto’s. I think if I was casting, I would like to cast late Mohammad Ali because his personality fits.”

Taking about late Shaheed Benazir Bhutto,

“I would like to cast Mehwish Hayat,”  Baig said.

When asked about who he would cast to play Maryam Nawaz, Baig said, “I would go for Hania Aamir.”

The discussion continued with the host asking about Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s role, and Baig selected Bilal Abbas.
Talking about Asif Ali Zardari (President of Pakistan), Nadeem Baig said,  “I would like to cast Sajid Hassan maybe.”

Lastly, when the host asked about the role of the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, Nadeem said, “Shahbaz Sharif is someone who is very cute and has a fun, childlike vibe. I would probably like to cast someone like Aamir Khan for the role of Shahbaz Sharif because he has that cuteness too.”

  • Why Nadeem Baig thinks Humayun Saeed can lead in action films

Why Nadeem Baig thinks Humayun Saeed can lead in action films

Director Nadeem Baig is known for openly sharing his thoughts about his favourite actors, and Humayun Saeed is definitely one of them.

Recently, Baig appeared as a guest on Say It All with Iffat Omar, where he discussed how Humayun Saeed compares to Bollywood’s Khans – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan – in terms of suitability for action roles.

The host asked, “I heard that you are going to work on an action film with him, should we expect a transformation like Shah Rukh, Aamir, or Salman?”

Nadeem Baig responded, “I think the disadvantage Shah Rukh and Aamir is their body types. The advantage for Humayun is his personality and physique. If I didn’t know these three people and they were not stars, and they stood in front of me wanting to be cast in my next film, I would physically cast Humayun because he is tall and broad, which suits action characters, much like actors in Hollywood or South Indian films.”

“Since he was a romantic hero, the trend for romantic leads has faded, and such films have become less accessible for him. So he had to rediscover himself to survive in the action genre. Salman Khan has been the most successful in this transition because his body, face, and eyes suit action roles. I don’t think Aamir Khan suits action, but he does well in drama and other genres. Shah Rukh tries hard to look good in action roles.

“However, I tell you, if I have the same facilities and budget, and if you see Humayun doing action, he would outshine all of them. I would like him to work out for a year so he can become someone who is physically fit. But he really loves food,” Nadeem Baig added.

He also talked about how Arsalan Naseer won the Best Actor award, beating Naumaan Ijaz.

“For instance, in front of Naumaan Ijaz, Arsalan Naseer, who just entered the industry through YouTube, he gets an award for Best Actor. I’m sorry, this surprises me. Actually, such awards don’t exist in Pakistan. There is one award for fashion, and they have to include the film and TV category so that they have good attendance and good faces sitting in the front row. They give five awards each for film and TV. So it’s about the category. You cannot put Sajal Aly and Saba Hamid in the same category, it will be very unfair.”

Talking about the credibility of the current awards show, he categorically stated:

“I think the awards that are being given, they hold no value. I’m not saying this lightly, I mean, when something is so public, if you don’t acknowledge it, it diminishes your worth. The awards you give then lose their significance. It’s as if everyone just shows up today and gets one of these social media awards, including Lux, I don’t know what the format is, but when the public is voting, it can be hacked. You can hire 500 people to vote or do something else. At the end of the day, what happens is that you receive a surprise there that leaves you stunned.”

See Prime’s ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’ is Pakistan’s biggest creative ensemble with three directors

The upcoming anthology film ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’ is bringing together a star-studded cast with some of the biggest directors and actors for three short films which will be directed by Nadeem Baig, Nabeel Qureshi and Marina Khan.

The film will feature diverse tales from the minds of storytellers like Khalil-ul-Rehman Qamar, Vasay Chaudhry, Ali Abbas Naqvi and Basit Naqvi. Pakistan’s biggest stars like Wahaj Ali, Mehwish Hayat, Shehryar Munawar, Ramsha Khan, Hira and Mani are cast in lead roles, making it one of Pakistan’s biggest creative collaborations.

The Current spoke to veteran actress, director and producer Marina Khan, one of the directors helming the project. We asked her how this collaboration came into being, and she revealed that originally, Qureshi had made a short film for See Prime. But the production house decided to expand it into an anthology film by reaching out to Baig and then her:

“Nabeel had been making a short film for See Prime, which turned out nicely, and they did not want to only upload it on YouTube. So the team of See Prime approached Nadeem for the second film, who reached out to me for the third film.”

The film features three unique stories with a different cast. Nadeem Baig will be narrating a classical love story “Aik Sau Taeswaan” written by Khalil-ul-Rehman Qamar, which will star Mehwish Hayat and Wahaj Ali. Nabeel Qureshi will helm a ghost story “Jin Mahal” which will feature celebrity couple Hira and Mani, while Khan will be directing a modern love story “Pasoori” which will star Ramsha Khan and Sheheryar Munawar. Speaking on what her short film is about, the ‘Dhoop Kinare’ actress revealed:

“It is the story of a girl whose childhood dream has come true. But, she now has to make a choice between the dream or her wedding day.”

Nadeem Baig was also contacted by See Prime for the idea of an anthology film. Speaking to The Current, he said he was also looking forward to watch it in the theatre.

Discussing the casting choice behind his short film, which will feature a classical love story between the main leads, the ‘Kuch Ankahi’ director revealed that he felt that there would be good chemistry between Mehwish and Wahaj:

“I thought Wahaj would suit the character and I thought he and Mehwish would have quite interesting chemistry, and I hope it works for the audience as well.”

The film will release on Eid-ul-Azha in theatres across Pakistan. Watch the complete trailer below:

  • Urwa Hocane speaks out after being labelled as ‘difficult to work with’ by director Nadeem Baig

Urwa Hocane speaks out after being labelled as ‘difficult to work with’ by director Nadeem Baig

Nadeem Baig made national headlines when, on talk show ‘The Fourth Umpire’, he was asked which actress was the most difficult to work with on set, and he revealed it was Urwa Hocane.

Hocane and Baig was worked together in ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ in 2017.

Now, Hocane has responded in a post on Friday where she addressed the allegation that she was ‘difficult’ by revealing her side of the story:

“Nadeem bhai and I have only done one project together and had one difference of opinion about the song ‘Lak Hilna’ where we eventually went with his aesthetics, choice of song and dance step as I sensed he was unwilling to hold a discussion probably because as a society we have become so intolerant to difference of opinion, specially when it’s a woman.”

Hocane revealed that despite being trolled heavily for the past few days since Baig’s comment on the show, she had never thrown him under the bus out of respect for him.

“Despite being extremely trolled for the song I never threw my director under the bus out of respect for him. I am so hurt with how my personality is being misrepresented publicly merely for holding a healthy discussion on set which I believe is a basis to team work while in all these years it was never pointed out to me in person.”

You can read her complete statement here:

Other celebrities had applauded Hocane’s post, including her husband, Farhan Saeed, who had writtten:

“Tu shaheen hai basera kur paharon ki chatanon par ❤️”

Nadia Jamil applauded Hocane for her ‘values and authenticity’

Hocane’s sister, Mawra, also commented that she was proud of the strength and grace her sister had shown

Yasir Hussain staged question about ‘uninvited guest’ at wedding

Nadeem Baig has revealed that Yasir Hussain wanted the uninvited guest question to be asked himself on Vasay Chaudhry’s Ghabrana Mana hai.

The Meray Paas Tum Ho’s director appeared on Nida Yasir’s Eid Special Morning Show and almost two months after the comments landed Yasir in hot water and sparked a heated war between him and Shah, the talk show’s director Baig revealed what had led to that contentious question.

Hussain had unleashed havoc after he stated that fellow actor Nausheen Shah demanded an invitation to his and Iqra Aziz’s wedding in 2019.

The Jhooti actor, 37, was asked on Vasay Chaudhry’s talk show Ghabrana Mana Hai about whether any one of the attendees at his wedding had showed up without getting invited, to which he said he hadn’t invited Shah but she still came.

Baig shared that his associate had gone up to Hussain prior to the show and asked him if there were any funny anecdotes he would like to be questioned about.

The director said: “While he was getting his makeup done, he said, ‘Just ask me who showed up uninvited to my wedding.’”

Nida had asked Baig about the controversies related to his show. He also said that everyone criticised Vasay for asking this question but actually he told us to ask this question.
