    Veteran singer Naseebo Lal’s son Murad Hussain’s powerful vocals have won the hearts of netizens. The young crooner sang Coke Studio’s chartbuster song, ‘Tu Jhoom’, and shared the video on social media. The video has garnered an overwhelming response and social media users have lauded the newbie for his musical talent.

    A video originally published by musician Arbaz Khan on his Instagram handle sees the young lad serenading him with his rendition of soulful track ‘Tu Jhoom’ from Coke Studio season 14.

    The track sung by legendary artists duo, Abida Perveen and Naseebo Lal in the latest season of the musical show, was brilliantly performed by the star son, as he aced the high notes and beats of the track.

    After concluding his performance, the emerging artist was complimented and questioned by Khan about his parents, to which the performer proudly confirmed, “I am the son of Madam Naseebo Lal.”

    The now-viral video was reposted by several entertainment pages on the photo and video sharing platform, which received acclaim and heartwarming compliments for the budding singer from social users.

    Indian celebrities including Daler Mehndi, who is one of the most popular Punjabi singer in India has praised Coke Studio’s song ‘Tu Jhoom’, with a special shout-out to Naseebo Lal.

    The song is sung by music veterans Abida Parveen and Naseebo Lal.

    “Today I want to tell you that Naseebo Lal has made a name for herself in India and everywhere in the world where people love music, ”he said in a video. “Whoever is watching me send lots of blessings to Naseebo Lal Jee,” stated Daler.

    Indian actor Aly Goni also shared a story of him listening to the song, and wrote, “Obsessed with this song.”

    Actor and Bigg Boss 15 contestant Donal Bisht is following Naseebo Lal on Instagram now after collaborating her on song Nikaah.

    The grand showcase of Coke Studio season 14, featuring the iconic Naseebo Lal and legendary Abida Parveen kicked off on January 14.

    Tu Jhoom is a song about a conversation about letting yourself go, opening your heart and understanding that you are enough and nothing will be gained by running after worldly things.

    The song rapidly gained fame among the masses leaving everyone captivated with the lyrics and its soothing melody.

    Tu Jhoom has been credited as written by Adnan Dhool, composed and mixed by Xulfi, arranged and produced by Xulfi and Abdullah Siddiqui. However, according to The Express Tribune, Nirmala Maghani, an up-and-coming singer from Umarkot would like to differ to some aspects of the credits list.

    As per a news report published in The Express Tribune, Maghani claimed that the melody of the song Tu Jhoom has been lifted from a sample she had sent to Xulfi back in June 2021, while eyeing a slot as featuring artist in Coke Studio 14.

    Xulfi didn’t reply to any of her messages, which she thought was expected from such a senior musician being suddenly reached by a singer he doesn’t know via WhatsApp. But the moment she heard Tu Jhoom she realised that one of the melodies she had sent had been used in the song without any acknowledgment.

    Speaking with Tribune, Maghani said, “The melody is exactly the same. I have been calling Xulfi since I heard the song and after a day he finally responded by saying I didn’t even download your audio file, which isn’t true because all my messages were received with blue ticks.”

    Maghani stressed the point that all she wants is recognition and due credit for her work and nothing else. “It’s about recognition of my work and being acknowledged for it, nothing else.”

    The much awaited next season of Coke Studio is set to be released soon as it has announced its artist line-up this year, providing people a chance to listen and watch their favorite music icons perform.

    In a press release, the spokesperson of Coca Cola Pakistan and Afghanistan, Fahad Ashraf said: “The Coke Studio platform has evolved this season. Whereas the values are the same but we are now leaning into the future by including the GenZ sound very deliberately. It is about time that we sync our cords with what the youngsters what. Nostalgia has its place in Season 14 but so does the firepower of a sound never been heard before.”

  • PSL 6 kicks off with a star studded opening ceremony

    The opening ceremony of PSL season 6 was held in National Stadium Karachi, which was reportedly recorded in Istanbul. The ceremony started with the National Anthem followed by performances from Atif Aslam, rapper Imran Khan and Humaima Malik alongside the PSL 2021 anthem stars — Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig, and Young Stunners.

    It was Atif Aslam’s debut performance in an opening ceremony of PSL.

    Addressing the opening ceremony PCB’s chairman Ehsan Mani said, “This year’s PSL is being played in only Karachi and Lahore and due to coronavirus 7,500 people will be able to [attend matches in] Karachi and 5,500 in Lahore,” He also thanked the fans for making PSL Pakistan’s “biggest brand”.

    After the opening ceremony, the first match of the tournament was played between the defending champions Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators, which was won by Karachi Kings by seven wickets.

    Sharing a behind the scenes (BTS) video of the song, the singer said: “Groove Mera isn’t just a musical win! It’s a win over classism, over post-colonial inferiority complex, over a rigged system that favours only a select few repeatedly.”

    “A shame that we deny ourselves legendary talent like Naseebo Lal over these hangups,” continued Meesha, adding: “Kudos to the whole team.”

    Meesha had earlier also praised the song referring to Naseebo as “Queen”.

    The official anthem of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Groove Mera has stirred up a storm in the country. While some, including celebrities, have appreciated the song, others have strongly criticised the composition and choice of artists.

    After Shoaib Akhtar claimed he could have done a better job with the anthem, the speedster had to face immense backlash from Pakistani celebrities including Adnan Siddiqui, Farhan Saeed and Hira Mani.

    Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has defended its decision to hire Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig and Young Stunners to perform the anthem, saying that the three artists were chosen as the board wanted to feature voices that were new and had not sung any PSL anthem before.

    The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League 6 (PSL6) will commence with a glittering opening ceremony on February 20. The star-studded entertainment-packed event will feature Atif Aslam, Imran Khan, Humaima Malick and the PSL 6 Anthem artists: Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig and Young Stunners. The event will also mark Atif and Khan’s first-ever PSL appearance.

    According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), parts of the opening ceremony will be filmed offshore in a specially designed studio space in Turkey. Some artists including Baig have already arrived in Istanbul for the event.

    Speaking about the opening ceremony, Director Commercial PCB Babar Hamid said: “This year promises to be really exciting especially the state-of-the-art technology being used to create this experience for Pakistani fans.”

    Later, Khan shared his picture on Instagram with a caption, “Aj wekhe ga crowed mera groove tv te,” following the tags #hblpsl, #pakistan and #turkey.

    The first four opening ceremonies of the PSL were held at the Dubai International Stadium while the 2020 opening ceremony was staged at the National Stadium Karachi, and the same venue will play host to the 2021 ceremony. As has been the tradition in earlier editions, the opening ceremony will be followed by the first match of the season – defending champions Karachi Kings will play Quetta Gladiators in the night match.

    The ceremony is expected to be aired on PTV Sports and Geo Super. The time for the event has not yet been announced.

    Meanwhile, overseas players have started arriving in Karachi, where the first half of the tournament will take place. Because of COVID-19 SOPs, the PCB has limited the event to Karachi and Lahore only. The former will host 20 matches from February 20 to March 7 while the latter will host the remaining 14 matches from March 10 to 22.

    As announced by the PCB, around 7,500 ticketed spectators will be allowed access inside the stadium per match day, while around 5,500 will be able to attend each match day at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
