    One Sailor martyred in operation against illegal Indian fishermen

    A Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) ship, patrolling Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), came into contact with eight Indian fishing vessels that were engaging in illegal fishing activities within the boundaries of Pakistani waters.

    A Pakistani sailor was martyred and two Indian fishermen went missing at sea, the PMSA statement said on Thursday. To escape the Pakistani authorities, one of the illegal fishing boats started speeding back towards Indian waters. During the intense pursuit, the vessel remained out of the authorities’ reach despite warnings to halt.

    “Eventually, the fishing vessel slowed down, allowing the PMSA ship’s boarding team to embark,” said the statement. “However, after PMSA personnel were on the fishing vessel, it suddenly accelerated speed and altered its heading, thereby colliding with the PMSA ship. Consequently, the fishing vessel capsized and sank with all personnel on-board i.e. PMSA boarding team and fishermen, being thrown into sea.”

    Following this, the fishing vessel sank and PMSA ship acted swiftly, rescuing five out of seven Indian fishermen and four of its own personnel.
    “However, regrettably, one PMSA sailor, Muhammad Rehan, later embraced martyrdom while two remaining Indian fishermen are still missing at sea.”

    Pakistan Navy’s spokesperson has confirmed that two Navy officers and one soldier have been martyred in a helicopter crash in Balochistan’s Gwadar on Monday.

    As per the statement, the helicopter crashed during a training flight in Gwadar.

    “The helicopter crashed during the flight due to a possible technical fault,” the spokesperson said. “As a result of the accident, two officers and one jawan of the Pakistan Navy lost their lives.”

    Moreover, the incident will be investigated.

    Political figures and parties have expressed grief over lives lost.

    In a statement issued by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he expressed “regret” over the helicopter accident in Gwadar and over the martyrdom of Pakistan Navy officers and the young soldiers in the accident

    “Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s expresses sympathy and condolence to the families of the martyrs”, reads the statement.

    Similarly, Maryam Nawaz Shairf expressed regrets on X (formerly Twitter): “We deeply regret the accident that happened to the helicopter of Pakistan Navy in Gwadar and the resulting martyrdom. We pray to Allah Ta’ala to raise the ranks of martyred soldiers and officers. These sons of the nation are the pride of the nation. May Allah grant patience and reward to their families, Ameen.”

    The Indonesian submarine that had gone missing earlier this week has been found broken, deep in the Bali Sea.

    Indonesian army and navy officials also confirmed all 53 crew members on-board the missing KRI Nanggala-402 submarine have died.

    “With deep sadness, I can say that all 53 personnel onboard have passed,” Indonesian military chief Hadi Tjahjanto said.

    “We received underwater pictures that were confirmed as the parts of the submarine, including its rear vertical rudder, anchors, outer pressure body, embossed dive rudder and other parts,” he said during a press conference, adding the next step was to lift the wreckage of the vessel with the help of foreign navies.

    The submarine — one of five in Indonesia’s fleet — disappeared last Wednesday while it was scheduled to do live torpedo training exercises off Bali.

    The crew asked for permission to dive. It lost contact shortly after.

    Later, search teams spotted an oil spill where the vessel was thought to have submerged, pointing to possible fuel-tank damage, and a catastrophic accident.

    A number of countries, including Russia, the United States (US), Germany, France, India, Turkey and Australia, had offered assistance to Indonesia in the operation to find the submarine.

    Pakistan gets most advanced Chinese warship amid New Delhi’s tensions with Beijing

    China has launched an advanced warship for Pakistan, the largest it has built for any country, and the first among the four most sophisticated naval platforms it is readying for the Pakistan Navy amid deepening military and strategic ties.

    According to reports, the Type 054A/P, a guided missile frigate, is the largest combat ship China has sold to a foreign navy and is “an important milestone” for China’s military export sector.

    The acquisition of the warship will double the combat power of the Pakistani Navy’s surface fleet, Chinese state media reported. By 2021, the Pakistan Navy is expected to have three more similar warships in its fleet.

    The Chinese state-owned Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai held the launch ceremony for the advanced warship with top officials and naval officers attending the function.

    The shipyard is a wholly owned subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the largest builders in the country.

    The ship launch took place two days after Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed the situation in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir region with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during the second round of the China-Pakistan foreign ministers’ dialogue in Hainan.

    The development comes at a time while New Delhi is locked in tension with both Pakistan and China over disputed boundaries and the abrogation of Article 370 in the troubled valley.

    India is reportedly closely monitoring the military cooperation between its two neighbours.
