    Noor Mukadam’s calligraphy exhibition to be held in Islamabad

    An exhibition of late Noor Mukadam’s calligraphy will be held in Islamabad from December 10 to December 11. The exhibition is being organised in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts. The exhibition is being held to to honour the life and work of Noor.

    “Noor was spiritually in touch and artistically inclined from a very young age. Her passion for Islam conjoined with her creative soul were expressed through Calligraphy. Noor used this art medium to transmit the voice of the Divine in a unique and beautiful way,” says the invitation to Noor’s exhibition, “She was a prolific artist whose exemplary work was an expression of her innermost thoughts.”

    “The exhibition will journey the bright illustration of love and compassion in the often volatile and unsettling world of today.”

    Pemra orders TV channels to stop airing CCTV footage of Noor in Zahir Jaffer’s house

    The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Sunday has issued a notice to TV channels asking them to stop broadcasting CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam.

    The issued notification states that the “telecast of CCTV footage” of Noor and Zahir has been prohibited under Section 27 of the Pemra Ordinance, 2002. Pemra also warned strict action against the violators.

    The CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam from the house of Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect in her murder has been also making rounds on social media.

    On November 9, the prosecution in the Noor Mukadam murder case submitted the transcript of the CCTV footage of Zahir’s house in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani, which shows the events that led to Noor’s brutal murder. The CCTV footage revealed that Noor tried to run away from Zahir Jaffer’s house twice before she was murdered.

    Noor Mukadam tried to run away from Zahir Jaffer’s house twice before she was murdered, the transcript of the CCTV footage has revealed. The prosecution in the Noor Mukadam murder case submitted the transcript of the CCTV footage of Zahir’s house in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani, which shows the events that led to Noor’s brutal murder.

    As per the footage, Noor entered Zahir’s house at 10:18pm on July 18, Shehzad Malik reports for BBC Urdu. At 02:39am on July 19, the two could be seen coming out of the house with bags, which they placed in a taxi but they both went back inside the house at 02:40am.

    The very next minute at 02:41am, Noor can be seen running barefoot towards the gate trying to run away, but the watchman Iftikhar closes the gate, later Zahir drags her back inside the house. The transcript further reveals that Noor begged Zahir to let her go.

    At 2:46am, they cab both be seen coming out of the house again and sitting in a taxi. A few minutes later at 2:52am, they both went back into the house.

    Noor made her second attempt to escape on July 20 at 7:12pm when she jumped from the first floor of the house with a cell phone in her hand, but in the CCTV footage, Iftikhar — the watchman — and the gardener could be seen closing the door to stop her. Zahir again took her back inside the house.

    At 8:06 pm, Therapyworks’ employees could be seen entering through the main gate and trying to enter the house at 8:42 pm. Later at 8:55 pm, the employees could be seen bringing out an injured person and taking them towards the gate.

    A sessions court in Islamabad issued a written order warning Zahir Jaffer, the primary accused in the Noor Mukadam murder case, that his court appearances would be disallowed if he doesn’t mend his attitude, reports Dawn.

    “Zahir Zakir created fuss in the court and tried to interfere in the proceedings. He is directed to mend his attitude otherwise his attendance will be exempted from the court and he will be taken on video link from jail,” read the court order.

    Zahir Jaffer was kicked out of an Islamabad sessions court on Wednesday for interrupting and misbehaving with the judge, Samaa has reported. In a video that was widely shared on social media, Zahir can be seen being dragged out of court by policemen. As per media reports, he misbehaved and used derogatory language in the court.

    Journalist Zubair Ali Khan had tweeted that Zahir Jaffer in court said, “I’m giving you guys an opportunity to hang me but still you guys are dragging this, this shows it is all a puppet show.”

    The Supreme Court has approved the bail of Zahir Jaffer’s mother, Asmat Adamjee. Zahir is the prime suspect in Noor rape and murder case. His mother’s bail is granted in exchange for bail bond of Rs1 million.

    A three-member bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, while hearing the bail plea, granted bail to the accused Zahir Jaffer’s mothrr on the grounds of her gender and on the ground that she was not present at the crime scene, Urdu News has reported.     Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect in Noor Mukadam case, has accused his father Zakir Jaffer for asking him to get rid of Noor, Urdu News has reported. Zahir Jaffer gave this statement while addressing Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani.
    

    During the hearing, Zahir Jaffer knelt down in the court room and kept apologising.
    

    An Islamabad court today indicted Zahir Jaffer, his parents and three others in Noor Mukadam murder case. In addition to Jaffer, two of the family’s employees, Jamil and Jan Mohammad, as well as the CEO of Therapy Works, Tahir Zahoor, have been charged.
    

    Zahir confessed of murdering  Noor saying, “because she presented herself and was willing to be sacrificed.”
    

    Zahir During the hearing said, “We had arguments, but if these people [Therapy Works staff] didn’t come in, this [the murder] would not have happened.”  During the hearing, while addressing Noor’s father Zahir said,  “I was in a relationship with your daughter for the last three years.     The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan directed the prosecution to submit evidence against Zahir Jaffer’s (prime suspect in Noor Mukadam’s murder case) mother Asmat Adamjee, reports Dawn. 
    

    The Court was hearing the bail pleas of ​​the parents of Zahir Jaffer, which were previously rejected by the Islamabad High Court (IHC). 
    

    The petitioner’s lawyer Advocate Khawaja Harris stressed that the case against the petitioners was not based on solid evidence, rather the allegations were highly speculative.
    

    Justice Umar Ata Bandial, during the hearing, pointed out that there was no mention of Adamjee in the IHC’s order denying bail to the duo. 
    

     “We are just trying to get the hang of the Noor Mukadam case,” Justice Bandial said while adding that the court was seeking information only to understand the facts of the case.
    

    Khawaja Harris argued that the order to complete the trial in two months will affect the right to a fair trial.
    

    To which the court said that the right to a fair trial was a must. “But the delay in handling the case only adds to anxiety.” 
    

    Justice Bandial adjourned the court till October 18. However, last week a sessions court in Islamabad fixed October 14 for the indictment of 12 suspects in the case.

    Zahir Jaffer’s parents have challenged Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) bail rejection by approaching the Supreme Court (SC), reported Geo News.
    

    Zahir is the prime suspect in Noor Mukadam’s murder case.
    

    Advocate Khawaja Harris filed a petition on behalf of his clients Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, arguing that delivering a verdict in two months goes against the rights of the suspects and the principles of a transparent trial.
    

    According to the petition, a complete challan of the case has not yet been presented in the trial court, while the high court went beyond its jurisdiction by directing to complete the trial in two months.
    

    Furthermore, the petition argued that the police investigation was biased and not impartial. According to Zahir’s parents’ lawyers, the defendants will not be able to defend themselves properly in prison as it will be difficult for them to communicate with them being in prison.
    

    Last week, the IHC had rejected the bail pleas of both of Zahir’s parents and also ordered the court to complete the trial within eight weeks.

    The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the bail applications submitted by Zahir Jaffer’s parents, Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Jaffer, in the Noor Mukadam murder case. The IHC, in the order, has said that Zahir’s parents knew that Noor Mukadam was being held hostage by their son, Geo Urdu has reported. 
    

    The IHC t wrote in its judgment that despite having information, Zahir’s parents did not inform the police. The guard has also stated that he had informed Zakir Jaffer.
    

    “Asmat and Zakir will stay in jail until the case trial is completed,” Justice Aamer Farooq ruled. He also directed the trial court to complete the trial within eight weeks.
