  • Video: Zahir Jaffer skims through challan against him, next hearing Oct 6

    The prime suspect in Noor Mukadam case, Zahir Jaffer and six other suspects appeared in court today for the hearing of the bail petitions filed by Zahir Jaffer’s parents Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, Geo News has reported. As per details, the Islamabad High Court will indict 12 persons in the Noor Mukadam case on October 6.

    Noor’s father, Shaukat Mukadam’s lawyer Advocate Shah Khawar, said in court that as per the provisions of the presidential ordinance, the murder case should be held in a special court.

    A Twitter user shared videos of Zahir and his father Zakir Jaffer coming to the district and sessions court of Islamabad for the hearing. Zahir Jaffer and Zakir Jaffer were presented with the police challan today. In one of the videos, Zahir can be seen “skimming it without reading it through.”

  • ‘I want all daughters of Pakistan to stay safe,’ Noor’s father demands justice

    A protest took place today outside the Islamabad Press Club to seek justice for Noor Mukadam. The protest was co-hosted by Noor’s sister Sara Mukadam. Noor’s father Shaukat Ali Mukadam addressed the gathering at the protest and appealed to the authorities to award exemplary punishment to the the prime suspect of his daughte’s murderer, Zahir Jaffer.

    “I want all daughters of Pakistan to stay safe. May they never see these days. My mission in life is to get justice for Noor so that Pakistan’s women to feel safe in their homes, their offices and on the streets. May they never go through things like this, nor their parents.”

    Noor Mukadam’s sister recited a poem at the protest. “You were my better half, my better version, my soulmate and now I will have to live incomplete without you for the rest of my life,” she said.

    People came to the protest to support Noor Mukadam and her family in Islamabad today.

    Actor Osman Khalid Butt also came forward to show his support.

  • ‘It is very hard to imagine a life without her’, Noor Mukadam’s sister demands justice

    Sara Mukadam, the sister of murder victim Noor Mukadam, said in a video message on Monday that it is very hard to imagine a life without Noor. She further added that no one deserves to go through what her family had experienced. “Thank you for all the love, support and prayers from around the world and giving us the courage to go through this tragic time in our life,” said Sara.

    She requested everyone to come to Wednesday the 22nd at 4.30pm to Islamabad Press Club to show their support for Noor. “Please raise your voice for Noor so she gets justice.”

    Earlier, Sara expressed her feelings for her sister Noor on the social media site, Instagram.

    Noor Mukadam was brutally murdered at a residence in the capital’s upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20. The alleged murderer, Zahir Jaffar was arrested for the murder.

  • ‘Zahir Jaffer’s statement has no legal standing,’ says parents’ lawyer

    Khawaja Harris, who is representing Zahir’s parents — Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamjee — read out the confessional statement of Zahir Jaffer today in Islamabad High Court, Geo News has reported. The lawyer was presenting his arguments during a hearing on their bail application.

    The statement made by the suspect in police custody, according to Harris, has no legal standing. He stated that the suspect’s statement must be recorded in front of a magistrate.

    In his arguments, Harris said that one sentence changes the shape of the whole case. “What was the role of the father? Only the recovery is mentioned in the memo of recovery, so how did his statement get included,” Khawaja Harris asked.

    The case, according to Harris, was not that complicated.

    Earlier, during a hearing on September 6, Zahir asked police officials to keep media persons out of the courtroom. “We have privacy, keep the media out of the courtroom.”

    The investigation report of Islamabad police submitted to the trial court in Noor Mukadam case has revealed that Noor Mukadam missed six life-saving possibilities due to Zahir Jaffer’s accomplices’ active connivance, Dawn has reported.

    “Her life could have been saved had the accomplices acted otherwise,” the challan stated.

    Noor’s attempt to escape twice was failed due to the connivance of the security guard and a gardener.

    The challan further stated that Zahir contacted his father 4 times on July 20, and Zakir Jaffer knew about the illegal detention and the situation at their home.

    “You need not worry, I can handle this, I am sending people to rescue you and to dispose of the dead body,” Zakir said to Zahir after he beheaded Noor. Zahir was scheduled to fly to the US on July 19. The police today also submitted the list of 18 witnesses in the case.

    The challan also stated that Zahir had confessed to killing Noor and a DNA report confirmed she was raped.

    Referring to prime accused Zahir’s statement, the challan states: Noor came to Zahir’s house on July 18, and on July 20 they both got into a fight after Noor refused to marry Zahir, and Zahir then detained her in a room, and Noor warned him of consequences.

    On the day of the murder, Zahir made calls to his parents at 2:21pm, 3pm, 6:35pm and 7:29pm.

    Noor’s family was informed about her murder on July 20 at 10:00pm by Kohsar police.

    Pakistani artist Sara Shakeel shared the artwork of Noor Mukadam, a woman who was murdered by Zahir Jaffer. The case is currently under investigation.

    While sharing the picture on her Instagram account, she wrote about Noor’s tragic story. “I’m sharing this story because this is the fate of our women here in my country! Unfortunately where I come from, the majority of men can’t accept the whole concept of a woman living her own life on her own terms! It scares them!”

    “I pray for you, Noor! I didn’t know you were a fan of my art and followed me too! I’m sorry this happened to you! I know you are in a very good place right now! We will fight for you till the very end,” she added.

    Jaffer and his parents are under custody being investigated.

  • ‘We need privacy, keep media out of courtroom’: Zahir Jaffer

    Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect in the Noor Mukadam case, asked police officials to keep media persons out of the courtroom, Mona Khan reported for Independent Urdu. While appearing for the hearing of the case today, Zahir told police officials: “We have privacy, keep the media out of the courtroom.”

    Moreover, Zahir’s mother Asmat Adamjee asked police officials to delete a video from the phone of a cameraman of a private news channel. Police officials then took the phone from the cameraman and deleted the video clip.

    Zahir came for the hearing today in Islamabad District and Sessions court with a new haircut. The prime suspect was wearing a brown shalwar kameez and was talking to police officials in Urdu. Earlier, Zahir had said that he does not understand Urdu.

    The police submitted the challan of the case today.

    “We went to a medical scene, not a crime scene,” he added.

    “We were interested only in getting the boy out safely. We had no crime scene before us. It could be confirmed by the servants and the CCTV [footage]. He (Jaffer) was completely normal before the police arrived. As soon as the police entered, he started the drama,” Zahoor said.

    Dr Tahir Zahoor also said that when they called Zahir’s father to inform him about Noor’s dead body, he said that maybe Zahir murdered her because of over-drinking. He added that the reaction of Zahir’s father was normal, Hum News has reported.

    Earlier, during a police investigation, it was revealed that Jaffer informed his father on July 20 about what he had done to the victim, and in response, the suspect’s father contacted Therapy Works, seeking its help in getting his son out of the house.

  • Zahir Jaffer guilty of murdering Noor, states case challan prepared by police

    A case challan has been prepared by the Homicide Investigation Unit of the Kohsar police station in Noor Mukadam murder case. In the case challan, they found Zahir Jaffer guilty of murdering Noor. In addition, Jaffer’s parents, Therapy Works CEO, and other suspects have been named as accomplices of the prime suspect, Samaa has reported.

    The challan will be presented next week before an Islamabad sessions court. In the challan, the police has requested the court to give strict punishment to Zahir.

    Therapyworks owner and five employees arrested in Noor’s case

    A court in Islamabad has handed over Therapyworks Owner Tahir Zahoor, and five others to day-long physical custody in Noor Mukadam’s murder case reports DAWN.

    The six suspects were arrested on Saturday night and were presented on Sunday morning before the court, in front of Magistrate Shahzad Khan who granted their remand.

    They were accused of “concealing evidence”. Reportedly, Tahir Zahoor was in contact with Zahir’s parents after the murder, and eventually, a team from Therapyworks was sent to the crime scene.

    Zahoor’s counsel told the court that his client is diabetic and has cooperated when called for an investigation. “This is the first case in which witnesses have been arrested,” he said.

    Moreover, the suspects said that they had cooperated with the authorities and were at the police station for four days but no investigation was conducted.

    They will be presented before the court tomorrow (Monday) at 10:30 am.

    How is Therapyworks is related?

    Therapy Works, a counseling, and psychotherapy center allegedly granted murder suspect Zahir Jaffar a certification to become a therapist.

    The center denied allegations that Zahir Jaffar was seeing clients of the organisation, despite evidence coming forward that he was.

    Other suspects

    Other than Zahir Jaffar and his parents, two security guards were also been arrested for assistance-in-crime, hiding evidence and tampering with evidence in order to save the accused. Currently, the murder suspect is in Adiala Jail.
