Subah Bakhair ,*|MERGE1|*. It’S October 28 and Thursday. Have a productive day!

This week feels likes forever, doesn’t it? October was a long month and a lot of ups and downs happened in the past few days. But I guess it is just a phase and this too shall pass. But hey, I am not upset because I am still not over Pakistan’s win against India and New Zealand.

Yesterday, Asad Umar announced that Pakistan recorded the lowest Covid positivity ratio. Isn’t this wonderful news?

Finally, Covid cases are going down.

Rangers in Punjab for 60 days

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that the Rangers were being called in Punjab for 60 days to maintain law and order in the province. The decision comes after recent clashes with the banned outfit.

What happened? TLP rejects any negotiations: Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) leader Syed Sarwar Shah Saifi said, “Sheikh Rasheed lied yesterday that matters have been resolved. He also lied about contact [with us] at 8 pm — from them till now no government official, including Sheikh, has contacted [us].”

Saifi said the demands would increase if more blood was spilt and the nation would be “rid of this dishonest, lying and hypocritical government”. He said it would be better if the agreement was abided by and TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi was released so the group could go back.

Previously, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that the negotiations were going well but he said that the govt cannot expel the French ambassador as demanded by the TLP.

Fawad’s statement: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry in a hard-hitting press conference on TLP ongoing protests, said, “No one has the guts to blackmail the state.”

“TLP will be treated as a militant party and not a political party in Pakistan. Other institutions [in Pakistan] should also realise their role in this matter. It is the duty of all the institutions to fulfil their duty in this regard,” he said.

He called TLP a terrorist organisation.

This situation is getting worse day by day. I hope this matter resolves soon without any bloodshed.

After three policemen dead, Sheikh Rasheed finds ‘TLP leader Saad Rizvi more cooperative than others’

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, while speaking at a press conference about the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) protests in the country, stated that he found the party’s leader Saad Hussain Rizvi “more cooperative” than others.

He said that the government has reached an understanding, and negotiations with the banned organisation are going well. In the press conference, he shared an agreement between the government and the TLP, which will be presented in the National Assembly (NA) as per the minister.

About Rizvi’s release:The minister said, “A lot of other people insist on freeing him right now. Decisions cannot be taken right now. There is a legal process that we will follow. We will talk to the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan [who is currently in Saudi Arabia] after his return.”

Background: Earlier, the federal government announced that the cases against the TLP workers would be withdrawn by Wednesday (Oct 27) and assured them that the authorities would also oversee the charges imposed under the fourth schedule.

Good morning, *|MERGE1|*.  It’s October 22 and how is it Friday all of a sudden?

There are nationwide protests happening today against inflation. Look out for alternative traffic routes before stepping out today. The protest has been called by the Pakistan Democratic Movement.

I think protesting peacefully is the fundamental right of every citizen as long as it doesn’t do any harm to others. Will you join today’s protest and do you think that the sole responsibility of the recent increase in inflation is on the government?

Let me know what do you think by replying to this e-mail or you can drop a message on my social media handles. Let’s have a conversation there!

    It will be sunny today.

    Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Justice Umar Bandial, who chaired the hearing of Shah’s bail plea, also directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to continue its investigations but not keep Shah permanently in jail.

    Hola,*|MERGE1|*. It’s October 21 and a lazy Thursday!

Here we are once again, mid-week blues are hitting me very hard. Or maybe it is just the smog or the changing weather. I just want to sleep these days. Does this happen to you as well?

Ah, and did you hear that social media giant Facebook might be changing its name next week. I didn’t see that see coming. It’s not suspcious, actually. The platform is just rebranding itself to reflect its focus on building the metaverse, a virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users. That sounds incredible! What do you think would be Facebook’s new name?

Also, did you watch another disturbing video of Zahir Jaffer’s outside the court? The reporter asked Zahir about his view on the ongoing trial. Zahir replied, saying “the whole thing is a f***g joke. That’s what I would say”. This is unbelievable. May justice prevail!

It is going to be sunny today.

Jam Kamal’s statement: Prior to the assembly session, CM Jam Kamal spoke to the media and said that he is confident of the outcome of the no-trust motion, adding that the Opposition wants to create discord among government members.

Praising his rule as the chief minister of the province, Jam Kamal said that he has “worked hard to establish peace and harmony in the province”, therefore, he would not let the Opposition spoil his accomplishment.

Exchange of tweets:  “If the country was to be run by magic, then why is the money of this nation being wasted on such a large cabinet,” Imaan tweeted.

When all substantive issue-based criticism fails this level of a base personal attack is plain shameful,” the minister tweeted.

LHC asks Punjab govt to submit report over ‘discriminatory’ behaviour towards transgenders

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the Punjab government, chief secretary, and inspector general ordering them to submit a report on Punjab police’s “discriminatory” actions toward transgender people.

“Articles 4, 18, and 25 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, provide a shield against any kind of discrimination especially in respect to a job or profession to earn a livelihood but the act of the respondents not to permit transgender persons to compete with the other applicants offends against the said provisions of the Constitution,” the court observed.
Sira Ashi, a transgender woman from Lahore, filed a court suit against the police earlier this month. She claimed that despite meeting all conditions, the Punjab police have been “discriminatory” in their treatment of transgender people by refusing to hire them.
