Wake up,*|MERGE1|*.  It’s October 15 and Happy Friday!

Last night, after a hectic day at work, I took a long walk. The weather was so nice. I am telling you winter is almost here. Time to take out all sweaters and khaddar suits.

Also, yesterday, Islamabad court indicted Zahir Jaffer, his parents and three others in Noor Mukadam’s murder. During his hearing, Zahir made some disturbing confessions and also accused his father Zakir for asking him to get rid of Noor.

    It is a sunny day!

‘Adopt a black, white way of life with a man who was twice my age and born again Muslim’: Jemima Khan

In an interview with ‘Evening Standard‘, Jemima Goldsmith talks about her life in Pakistan, being married to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, her children, her work, and her friendship with Monica Lewinsky.

On her marriage with PM Khan:She said, “I do feel like I have an ability to see things from both points of view in a way that possibly some of my contemporaries, both in Pakistan or here, don’t. I even feel like I am right in the middle of the Islamophobia and anti-Semitism debate because I’ve seen both at first hand. I’ve got half-Pakistani Muslim children and I was a young girl who was politically targeted because of my Jewish ethnicity. It’s an interesting perspective.”

“Adopt a black and white way of life and doctrine, with a man who was twice my age and a born again Muslim,” added Jemima.

‘Do not try to be Nawaz Sharif,’ Maryam Nawaz tells PM Khan

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should not try to be Nawaz Sharif. Maryam was addressing the media after an appearance at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

What exactly did Maryam say?“When Nawaz Sharif came up with the slogan, ‘Vote ko izzat do’ [give respect to the vote], he was an elected prime minister, a constitutional prime minister, he came to power from the votes of the people and he had a long constitutional struggle, which was not for himself,” said Maryam.

“He [Nawaz Sharif] gave up prime minister office for the respect of the Constitution and people of Pakistan,” she said. “To give respect to vote, you need to go to prison, you need to say that you will not take dictation from anyone.”

“Imran Khan’s identity is to conspire against the elected prime minister and to hold a 126-day sit-in,” she said. She was referring to the 2014 sit-in by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad.

Balochistan CM denies stepping down as BAP chief

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Alyani denied that he had formally resigned as the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) president, as the party named its vice-president, Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, as BAP’s acting chief.

According to Dawn, the chief minister said neither had he stepped down as the party president nor had he any such plans.

Blaming the “irresponsible social media [users]” for the confusion, he said no factions were being created in BAP.

What happened earlier? The news of CM Jam Kamal’s resignation had surfaced earlier this month, amid a deepening political crisis in Balochistan and calls by BAP lawmakers and others for him to step down as the chief minister.

Dawn had reported at the time that the chief minister had announced his resignation in a tweet, wherein he had asked the party’s central organiser and general secretary to “announce BAP party elections at the earliest”.

You can see his tweet and let me know what do you think of it? To me, it seems like a farewell message.

PM Khan’s interview with the Middle East Eye

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday in an interview with the Middle East Eye, said, “Money is a big player now. For the players, as well as for the cricket boards. The money lies in India, so basically, India controls world cricket now.”

“I mean, they do, whatever they say goes. No one would dare do that to India because they know that the sums involved, India can sort of produce much more money,” PM Khan added.

What else did he discuss? PM Imran Khan, while speaking to David Hearst and Peter Oborne of Middle East Eye, discussed a wide range of topics, including the current situation in Afghanistan, relations with the United States (US), India’s role in occupied Kashmir, allegations against China regarding the treatment of Uighurs, and cricket.

About TTP PM Imran Khan said Islamabad is trying to speak to elements within the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) who can be reconciled “because it’s from a position of strength”.

“I always believed all insurgencies eventually end up on the dialogue table, like the IRA [Irish Republican Army] for instance,” he explained.

     Noor Mukadam Case Update

The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan directed the prosecution to submit evidence against Zahir Jaffer’s (prime suspect in Noor Mukadam’s murder case) mother Asmat Adamjee, reports Dawn.

The court was hearing the bail pleas of the parents of Zahir Jaffer, which were previously rejected by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The petitioner’s lawyer Advocate Khawaja Harris stressed that the case against the petitioners was not based on solid evidence, rather the allegations were highly speculative.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial, during the hearing, pointed out that there was no mention of Adamjee in the IHC’s order denying bail to the duo.

“We are just trying to get the hang of the Noor Mukadam case,” Justice Bandial said while adding that the court was seeking information only to understand the facts of the case.

Khawaja Harris argued that the order to complete the trial in two months will affect the right to a fair trial.

To which the court said that the right to a fair trial was a must. “But the delay in handling the case only adds to anxiety.”

Justice Bandial adjourned the court till October 18. However, last week a sessions court in Islamabad fixed October 14 for the indictment of 12 suspects in the case.

‘Research should be conducted on whether our divorces have increased and its impact,’ says PM Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan, while addressing the Ashra-e-Rehmat-ul-Lil-Aalamin (PBUH) conference, announced the formation of the Rehmatul-lil-Aalameen Authority.

What did he say? PM said Islam was a religion of peace and humanity and the West did not understand it so the authority would also be tasked with explaining Islam to the world. “When they educate the world about the Prophet’s (PBUH) life, people will understand that Islam is a religion of humanity,” the premier said.

Members:However, the members of the authority haven’t been revealed yet. PM Khan said, “I will be the patron myself but we have started searching for a person who has written books of tafsir, has great command [over religion] and is a scholar for the chairman. There will be an international advisory board above him on which we will bring the Muslim world’s top scholars — we have looked at many names and are approaching them as well.”

The Current Editorial: Nobel Peace Prize for journalists

It is an honour for journalists around the world that people of their fraternity were awarded the most prestigious award for standing up for free media. At a time when journalists are facing problems and many countries are clamping down on free media, it gives journalists more strength and courage when their struggle is recognised.

Unfortunately, like many other countries, the space for free media is fast shrinking in Pakistan. The government claims that the Pakistani media is more independent than even western countries but the fact of the matter is that censorship has increased over the years, journalists have faced physical attacks in the capital but no one has been arrested, and relentless attacks against journalists continue online as well.

Good morning, *|MERGE1|*.  It’s October 11. Happy Monday!

I had a very lazy Sunday. My day went scrolling through the pictures coming from the Lux Style Awards. I loved almost every look, but Aima’s black gown and Ayesha’s off-white dress was to die for. Which celebrity did you like the most?

The videos that came from Islamabad showed the weather in the city yesterday was super beautiful and somehow scary, I hope it soon rains in Lahore too. The weather will be sunny in most parts of the country today.

Cold receptionUnited States (US) Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R Sherman, following her visit to India, received a cold reception upon her arrival in Islamabad as per The News.
