    Pakistan’s winning start in Under-19 cricket World Cup

    Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by a huge margin of 181 runs in the first match of the Under-19 cricket World Cup.

    Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against Afghanistan and scored 284 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs, Shahzaib Khan scored a brilliant century and Saad Baig scored a half century.

    On behalf of Pakistan, Shahzeb Khan was the top scorer by scoring 106 runs off 126 balls, Saad Baig scored 55 runs and Riazullah scored 46 runs.

    On behalf of Afghanistan, Khalil Ahmed dismissed 4 players, Bashir Ahmed 2, Ghazanfar and Naseer Khan took one each.

    Chasing the target of 285 runs, the entire team of Afghanistan collapsed on only 103 runs, 7 players could not even enter double figures, Noman Shah scored 26, Sohail Zarmatni and Rahimullah Zarmati scored 20, 20 runs.

    On behalf of Pakistan, Obaid Shah took four wickets and Mohammad Zeeshan dismissed three players, Aamir Hasan and Ahmed Hussain took one wicket each.

    Pakistan’s batsman Shahzaib Khan was man of the match for his brilliant batting.

    Babar Azam lambasts fielding after Afghanistan loss

    After the stunning defeat by Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup, Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam said that the defeat has hurt the team, pointing out that bowling and fielding were not up to par.

    While addressing a press conference after the match, Azam said, “I congratulate Afghanistan, anything can happen in cricket, this defeat has hurt the team. The bowling, and fielding were not good while the spinners did not bowl well in the middle overs.”

    Addressing criticism of his own performance, Azam said that he does not have the burden of captaincy. “When I bat, I only do my batting, when it is my turn to captain, I do full captaincy.”

    He said, “The Pakistan team is not able to click, the focus on fielding is not being fulfilled. After the defeat against India, our plans are not succeeding.”

    He again talked about his own performance, stating, “I do not know what campaign is going on against me on social media.”

    World Cup 2023: Afghanistan defeats Pakistan by eight wickets in big upset

    In the ICC ODI World Cup, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in a major upset and won at the event for the second time. Afghanistan easily chased down Pakistan’s target of 283 runs in 49 overs for the loss of 2 wickets, with Ibrahim Zadran scoring 87 runs.

    The Green Shirts had a good start against Afghanistan, with openers Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq forming a partnership of more than 50 runs, but then Pakistan suffered their first loss at 56, as Imam ul Haq got caught on the score of 17 by Azmatullah.
    After the fall of one wicket, a partnership of 54 runs was established between Babar and Abdullah Shafiq, but then Abdullah returned to the pavilion after scoring 58 runs.

    Muhammad Rizwan also fell to Noor Ahmed after putting up eight runs, while Saud Shakeel was dismissed after scoring 25. Captain Babar Azam completed a half-century but he too returned to the pavilion after scoring 74 runs off 92 balls. In the final overs, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan batted responsibly, with the former scoring 40 runs off 27 balls and the latter putting up 40 runs off 38 balls. Shaheen Afridi remained unbeaten on three runs.

    Thus, Pakistan scored 282 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs.

    Chasing Pakistan’s target of 283 runs, Afghan batsmen attacked Pakistan bowlers from the start, with both openers Rahmanullah Garbaz and Ibrahim Zadran batting brilliantly to give the Afghan team 130 runs. The green shirts showed poor fielding due to which the bowlers could not put pressure on the opposition team.

    However, opener Garbaz scored 65 and Ibrahim got out after 87 runs. However, even after the loss of two wickets, the Afghan team did not come under any pressure, and captain Hashmatullah and Rahmat Shah batted responsibly and gave Afghanistan a win.

    Hashmatullah put up 48 and Rahmat Shah remained unbeaten while scoring 77 runs. Afghanistan achieved Pakistan’s target in 49 overs with the loss of two wickets.

    Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket each for Pakistan.

    Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in the semi-final of the Asian Games in China, after winning the toss and inviting Pakistan to bat first.

    The entire team returned to the pavilion after scoring only 115 runs, after which Afghanistan needed 116 runs to win, achieving the set target with a loss of 6 wickets in 17.5 overs.

    Qasim Akram led the Pakistan team, while Umeer Bin Yusuf scored 24 runs. Arafat Minhas was unbeaten on 14 runs, Amir Jamal scored another 14 runs and Rohail Nazir scored 10 runs.

    It should be noted that earlier India had won against Bangladesh in the semi-final. Afghanistan will face India in the final.

    Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 142 runs in first ODI

    Pakistan have beaten Afghanistan by 142 runs in the first ODI of a bilateral series between the two neighibouring countries. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, losing the early wicket of Fakhar Zaman on the second ball of the first over. Captain Babar Azam fell on the last ball of the 2nd over, adding to Pakistan’s troubles. In the first power play (first 10 overs) Pakistani team scored only 41 runs with three early wickets lost.

    After drinks, Pakistan was at 59/3, completing 100 runs in 25.1 overs. Imam-ul-Haq scored 61 runs while Muhammad Rizwan put up 21 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab scored 30 and 39 runs, bringing Pakistan to a total of 170 runs. At the tail end, Nasim Shah contributed 18 runs, finishing the inning with a total of 201 runs in 47.1 overs.

    Mujeeb ur Rehman took three wickets while Rashid Khan and Muhammad Nabi took two wickets each. Fazal Haq Farooqi and Rehmat Shah also took a single wickets each.

    The second innings was dominated completely by Pakistani bowlers, as the team made it difficult to play for Afghan batters. The Afghan side lost four early wickets with the score at 21 in the first power play. Afghan batters struggled in the whole match and finished at a total of 59 runs in 19.2 overs.

    Haris Rauf took a five-wicket haul with an economy rate of 2.84. Shaheen Afridi picked up two wickets while Nasim Shah and Shadab Khan succeeded in taking a single wicket each.

    Pakistani team heads to Sri Lanka for Afghanistan ODI series

    Pakistan cricket team is heading towards Sri Lanka to play 3 ODIs in a series with Afghanistan.
    PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has shared a video on X (formerly known as Twitter). In which players can be seen meeting with fans before taking off for Sri Lanka.

    Nine Pakistani players took off from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport this afternoon. These players were Abdullah Shafiq, Tayab Tahir, Salman Ali Agha, Saudi Shakir,

    M. Wasim Jnr, Fahim Ashraf, M. Rizwan, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi.
    Vice-captain Shadab Khan will fly from Karachi to Sri Lanka to join the team, while leg-turner Osama Mir, who competes in the Hundreds, will join the team from the UK.

    Players participating in this edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (LPL), including captain Babar Azam, will join the team in Hambantota today.
    Pakistani team will play their first two matches on August 22 and 24 in Hambantota. While the last match will be played in Colombo.
    After that, the Paksitani team will play their first match of Asia Cup 2023 with Nepal on August 30 in Multan.

    Pakistan issues visas to Afghan cricket team: Fawad Chaudhry

    Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that Pakistan has issued visas to the Afghan cricket team.

    Taking to Twitter, Chaudhry wrote that he hoped and prayed that the Afghan cricket team would bring smiles on the faces of its people. “My sincere prayers and best wishes are with you.” Fawad wrote the last line of his tweet in Pashto language.

    The Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams’ series was scheduled in Sri Lanka, which had announced 10-day restrictions on gatherings and other events in the wake of rising cases of Coronavirus.

    As per reports, the series is in jeopardy and is expected to be shifted to any other country.

    Meanwhile, the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan is back on track as Islamabad has issued visas to Afghan cricketers, reported Geo News.
