Pakistanis celebrated all night long after their cricket team’s stunning victory against Sri Lanka on Tuesday night, successfully chasing down a 345 runs target with six wickets to spare. The win created history as the highest successful chase in the World Cup. Cricketers Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafiq paved the way for the team, leading it to a comfortable victory with their stunning centuries.

Now, Rizwan’s hilarious quips after the match have taken center stage. Addressing a press conference, he talked about the cramps that plagued him while he was playing, limping on the pitch.

Addressing the moment, Rizwan cheekily replied “Sometimes it’s cramps, sometimes I’m acting.”

The one-liner soon led to a meme-storm on the internet, as if there weren’t enough reasons to love Muhammad Rizwan, he just gave us another one.

‘Ban going to pathetic hosting countries’: Celebrities speak out against cricket presenter Zainab Abbas’ departure from India

Sports presenter Zainab Abbas has left India, citing safety concerns after an Indian anti-minority lawyer filed a complaint against her over ‘anti-Hindu’ tweets. Her exit was met with severe criticism from Pakistani celebrities who expressed their disappointment at the lack of their country’s representatives at the World Cup.

Director Nabeel Qureshi slammed Zainab’s departure as “ridiculous”, saying that already few fans and journalists from Pakistan are present in India.

“This is the limit! Ridiculous, already so many fans and journalists are not getting a visa’s either.”

Actor and singer Ahmed Ali Butt called it a pathetic move to target professional women.

“A very pathetic move from a very pathetic world cup. Seriously!! We shoudl BAN going such Pathetic Hosting countries who target professional women.”

According to the lawyer Vineet Jindal, the tweets were posted approximately nine years ago under the username zainablovessrk, which afterwards changed to ZAbbasofficial, and is currently the active account of the sports presenter.

Did we lose the match because of Shehbaz’s tweets? X users say yes

Former Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is a big sports fan and tweets about cricket and tennis quite often. His tweets full of excitement during the Asia Cup about Pakistani cricketers created quite a stir, but not for the right reasons. Twitter (now X) users are blaming Shehbaz for Pakistan’s loss. Here’s why.

On September 2 when Pakistan played its first match against India in Asia Cup 2023,Shehbaz tweeted that the Indians “CANNOT PLAY’ Shaheen Shah Afridi.

However, in the next match between Pakistan and India, Shaheen’s performance was so bad that even his father-in-law Shahid Afridi was not happy with his performance.

“If we ball like Naseem Shah in initial overs, the situation could have been different. Shaheen’s line and length were not good, he gets frustrated if he doesn’t get wickets in early overs because he is known as a wicket taker in the first over,” said Shahid about Shaheen.

Pakistan lost the match to India by 228 runs.

Pakistan lost the crucial Super 4 match against Sri Lanka yesterday and thus couldn’t qualify for the Asia Cup final.

Shehbaz Sharif was quick to buck up the Boys in Green.

“That was an incredible last over, Zaman. A great game of cricket indeed.”

X users were quick to point out that after Shehbaz praised Shaheen, he performed badly and now that he has praised Zaman Khan, his career may be over. One user told Shehbaz to “stay away from cricket”.

Haris Rauf knows happy wife=happy life

Truly a man written by a woman

Haris Rauf is leading the race in proving he is truly the internet’s boyfriend, albeit one who’s married now. An interview clip of the bowler is moving social media users to tears. After a post-match talk with Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, Haris was seen praising his wife’s presence and calling her the reason behind his victory.

“Alhumdullilah, Muzna is lucky for me,” the cricket star said.

He dedicated his Man Of The Match award to his family, particularly to his mother

“My mother is really important to me. I dedicate all of my success to my mother,” said Haris.

This small but meaningful interaction had moved Twitter, especially the way Haris proved he’s a wife guy through and through.

  • ‘PCB should delete the video and apologise,’ Wasim Akram shocked at cricket tribute video ‘minus the great Imran Khan’

On Pakistan’s Independence Day, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), paying tribute to Pakistan cricket over the years. “Making history isn’t just about one day, it’s about the legends we create and the tales we script…Pakistan Cricket Team – a legacy that echoes through time,” tweeted PCB with the video.

    https://twitter.com/TheRealPCB/status/1691091543350771712

Interestingly, the video did not show former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan except for a short glimpse. You’d probably miss him if you blinked. Sports journalist Faizan Lakhani noticed this “bareek kaam”.

PCB has come under fire since posting the video.

Former cricket captain and one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, Wasim Akram, slammed PCB in a tweet.

“After long flights and hours of transit before reaching Sri Lanka, I got the shock of my life when I watched PCB’s short clip on the history of Pakistan cricket minus the great Imran Khan… political differences apart but Imran Khan is an icon of world cricket and developed Pakistan into a strong unit in his time and gave us a pathway… PCB should delete the video and apologise,” tweeted Wasim Akram on X (former Twitter).

Caretaker Sports Minister and former pacer Wahab Riaz also criticised the PCB in a press conference.

“We can never forget the ’92 World Cup. We can never forget the captain. We have always idealised him [Khan] and Insha’Allah, I believe the young generation will also idealise their stars,” said Wahab Riaz.

Imran Khan is considered to be one of the best and most iconic players in Pakistan’s cricket history. Khan played 88 Tests and 175 ODIs for Pakistan. Khan also led Pakistan to its first series victory in England in 1987 and under his captaincy, Pakistan won the 1992 World Cup.

Former Captain Pakistan Women’s Cricket Urooj Mumtaz Khan took a dig at PCB and posted, “Imran Khan will go down in history as one of the greats of the global game!”

Which male celebrity wants to marry Babar Azam?

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Rameez Raja’s effusive praise for Babar Azam during his commentary at the Lanka Premier League (LPL) has set the internet abuzz. Raja expressed his admiration for Babar Azam in a rather unique manner after the latter scored a century in a LPL match on Monday. Rameez Raja’s comment, “I want to marry Babar,” has gone viral on social media, garnering considerable attention and sparking discussions.

Notably, Babar Azam delivered an exceptional century while representing the Colombo Strikers against the Galle Titans at the Paley Kale International Cricket Stadium. This outstanding achievement not only created a buzz within Pakistan but also captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts in Sri Lanka.

In the match, the Galle Titans set a target of 189 runs for the Strikers. Babar Azam, partnering with Pathum Nissanka, opened the Strikers’ innings and together, they established an impressive 111-run partnership with the Sri Lankan batsman. Babar Azam’s stellar performance included 8 boundaries and 5 sixes, allowing him to reach a total score of 104 runs off just 59 balls.

It is worth noting that Ramiz Raja resumed his role as a commentator during the recently concluded Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Raja had been absent from the commentary box since September 2021, following his election as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a three-year term.

Fans react to Babar Azam being ‘ignored’ by ICC in World Cup promo

On July 20, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a promo for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Cricket fans around the world have strongly reacted to Babar Azam, number one ODI batter, being ignored by the ICC in its recently released World Cup promo in which Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also made an appearance.

ICC tweeted: “History will be written and dreams will be realised at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. All it takes is just one day.”

However, cricket fans were quick to point out an obvious omission by the ICC in its World Cup promo.

The missing factor: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam.

  • Modi influence: BJP leader Amit Shah forces son Jay Shah to exclude Pakistan from Asia Cup

Modi influence: BJP leader Amit Shah forces son Jay Shah to exclude Pakistan from Asia Cup

The controversy surrounding the upcoming Asia Cup has taken yet another bad turn as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders intervene into the stand-off between Pakistan and India.

Sources are saying that Asia Cup will be canceled and India is planning instead to play a five- nation Asian cricket cup in India excluding Pakistan.

Media speculations are rife that BJP leader Amit Shah has influenced his son Jay Shah, who is the president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and also the secretary of Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI), to exclude Pakistan from Asia Cup 2023.

The same, as yet unconfirmed, reports have said that Amit Shah is also forcing his son not to send the Indian team to Pakistan. Reportedly, these decisions were debated overnight at the behest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Pakistan is likely to boycott World Cup 2023 if India axes Asia Cup 2023, with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi stating loud and clear that we will not back off from hosting the tournament as no team has security concerns. “We have hosted many international teams, so it’s clear that there is no security threats in Pakistan for Indian team.

If India will not want to play their matches in Pakistan we will provide them hybrid model but it’s we who decide where Indian Team will play, not them, because we are the host,” he said.

Asia Cup without Pakistan will not be the same because the revenue India and Pakistan matches produce is unmatchable.

  • Haris Rauf has an endearing interaction with fans on ‘Hasna Mana Hai’

Haris Rauf has an endearing interaction with fans on ‘Hasna Mana Hai’

The current Pakistani cricket team has entered in to our lives like a breath of fresh air. We love them because they’re extremely talented and hard working, they never embody the dog-eats-dog mindset, support and respect each other without a doubt, and most importantly how much have fangirls are ready to die for them.

Haris Rauf is endearing to many women because of his looks and his prodigious cricketing skills. The bowler was a guest on Friday’s episode of the Geo News show Hasna Mana Hai where a fan had an endearing question for him. She asked him about what will she and other fan girls like actress Maya Ali do now that their crush, Haris, has gotten married and settled down.

To this, Rauf jokingly responded by saying that he had to settle down with someone, since he can’t marry everyone of his fans. He then assured his fans that they can mend their broken hearts by finding someone else, since there are other cricket players out there.

“Not just cricketers, there are many other people out there,” he quipped.

Another fan also had a hilarious question about how when Rauf is playing on the field, he can hear the women behind him shouting out marriage proposals. To which the cricket player said when he is playing cricket, he and his teammates are focused on the game rather than responding to the fans sitting behind them.

“We try to look for them after the match but we never find them,” Rauf joked.
