  • ‘Never seen such a thing’: Armeena Khan slams PML-N for sharing photo of her holding her baby

Actor Armeena Khan has slammed Pakistan Muslim League Noon (PML-N) for harassing her by sharing a picture of her with her newborn daughter from the party’s media Twitter account. Khan had defended people’s right to call out politicians, in response to the viral video where a woman was seen trolling Maryam Nawaz. The actress wote that freedom of speech was an essential right, because in Pakistan people are kidnapped for holding politicians accountable.

“Had this happened in Pakistan, the selfie lady would’ve ‘disappeared.’ ;),” wrote Khan. “I’m glad we have such freedoms in the U.K where we hold our politicians to account. If you’re going to live on British soil then it is OUR rules. We have freedom of speech.”

In response to this comment, an account associated with PMLN shared a picture of Khan with her daughter with a huge cross drawn around it, with the caption saying “How will the sick minded youthias train the coming generation and the fifth generation youthia will be at the lowest level.”

Khan slammed PMLN supporters for harassing her by what she said was an attempt at invading her personal life, especially by targeting her daughter, saying that she had never seen such a vile act committed by a political party before.

“Maryam Nawaz hates babies I guess. Poor thing couldn’t take it with her thin skin so sent her official goons to harass a private citizen of another country. I’ve never seen such a thing before from a mainstream political party before,” Khan tweeted.

Khan’s husband, Fesl Raza-Khan critcised PML-N and demanded that the political party send them an apology for targeting their daughter.

“PMLN leadership, you are responsible for this account. You have posted a photo of my infant, just to troll my wife, thus crossing all bounds of decency. My daughter & I have no interest in PK politics. But as a Father I will protect my child. Apologise immediately,” he wrote.

Twitter users criticised PMLN politicians for refusing to condemn this heinous act, and for choosing to stoop so low to even target an infant child of a critic. Because political opinions aside, choosing to target the personal life of an individual is completely wrong and demonstrates how classless and disgraceful your morals are.

  • Twitter users, activists condemn Mahira Khan, Anwar Maqsood’s sexist remarks about Maryam Nawaz, Marriyum Aurangzeb

Social media was enraged yesterday at the comments made by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senator Afnan Ullah Khan who remarked that Mahira Khan had mental health problems and Anwar Maqsood was a drunkard, in a tweet which celebrities and feminist activists slammed as sexist.

What had prompted this reaction? It was a conversation at a session titled ‘An Evening With Mahira Khan’ held at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi. In a clip that went viral, Mahira Khan was seen commenting about two females fighting and poisoning each other. To which Maqsood responded by saying that these two women were PML-N leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb and Maryam Nawaz.

“I am restricted from talking about politics, I can’t say anything about anyone. Hopefully the situation will get better soon. What you said about poisoning, abusing each other so I gave an example, it is also happening in real life. Also both are actors, not character actors.”

Can we condemn the disparaging comment made by the PML-N senator, whose party is currently under the leadership of a woman, and is also the one ruling the country? Absolutely, because how a politician comments about their critics reveals how thin-skinned and shallow-minded they are, especially when the critic is a woman.

But to completely sideline the fact that Khan, who has been outspoken about gender inequality and the need to improve the way media represents women on screens, especially sitting next to a renowned leftist screen writer, could resort to making sexist jokes about female politicians whose views she doesn’t agree with? Twitter users could not over look this fact, and criticised Khan’s sexist behavior for directly targeting female politicians of the opposite party as a way to score points.

Feminist activist Leena Ghani mentioned that it was male politicians who are consistently over-emotional, and behave in a horrible manner, but it’s astounding why Khan chose to overlook them and target Aurangzeb and Nawaz

The Twitter page of Aurat March condemned Khan’s and Maqsood’s comments as ‘cringe’

Twitter users like journalist Gharidah Farooqi criticised these comments as ‘shameful’:

Zebunnisa Burki criticised both Khan and Maqsood for making such disgusting comments

Another user wrote that it wasn’t proper for a woman to mock another woman politician in this manner

‘I have paid back the total value of the gifts which I retained’: Ahsan Iqbal

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has announced that he has paid back the total value of the gifts which he retained from Toshakhana- when his party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was in power in 2018.

In a letter written to the Cabinet Secretary Amir Ashraf Khawaja, Iqbal mentioned that he had taken three gifts from Toshakhana — a Rolex gents watch, a Rolex ladies’ watch and a carpet.

The planning minister deposited a payment of Rs1,991,000 to the national kitty through a cheque.

Iqbal said that even though he is “not required to make any additional payment for the same”, he is paying the remaining amount to dispel “any misplaced allegation or even an iota of doubt that I wrongfully benefitted from the gifts”.

In February, Ahsan Iqbal returned the V8 vehicle he had been allotted and asked the govt to give a him a smaller car, citing the economic crunch in the country as his reason for returning the fuel-guzzling SUV.

However, the tweet was deleted after users pointed out the faux pas. A new tweet with Miftah’s name was then shared.

In a joint press conference, the finance minister expressed hopes of the economy getting better with the expected Chinese loan and the ongoing dialogue with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The law minister said that if Nawaz fails to secure transit bail, then he will have to surrender himself and the “courts should provide [relief] to the people who are handing themselves over to the law voluntarily”.

Speaking on the issue, Tarar said that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto also secured transit bail when she came back to Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Lahore High Court (LHC) allowed Nawaz to go to London for medical treatment in November 2019.

Nawaz Sharif urges govt to facilitate Musharraf’s return

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif urged the government to facilitate Musharraf’s return to the country.

“I have no personal enmity or animosity towards Pervez Musharraf. I don’t want anyone else to suffer the traumas I have had to endure for my loved ones. I pray to Almighty Allah for his health. If he wants to return to Pakistan, the government should facilitate him,” said Nawaz in a tweet.

The military’s spokesperson expressed regret over the propaganda initiated against the army and the military leadership on social media.

DG ISPR once again reiterated that no conspiracy was hatched to oust former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. He said that the military leadership was present in the National Security Council (NSC) meeting and the participants were clearly briefed by the intelligence agencies.

“[They were] briefed that there was no conspiracy or evidence of any kind [against the then government], nothing like that happened. Participants were told in detail that there was no evidence of any conspiracy,” said the DG ISPR.

  • Khan accuses Maryam Nawaz of wanting to ‘lie down’, so an American lady could ‘pass over her’

Khan accuses Maryam Nawaz of wanting to ‘lie down’, so an American lady could ‘pass over her’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday in his jalsa in Gujranwala criticised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

Khan said, “Once a woman from the American Embassy came to [Pakistan], Maryam called her at her house, opened the door of her car, and brought her inside. The way she was walking besides the American lady, the only thing left was for Maryam to lie down and tell the lady to pass over her so that her shoes don’t get dirty.”

Maryam responded to Khan’s comments and tweeted, ” Poor guy, he has become irrelevant.”

Khan was talking about United States (US) Charge d’ Affaires Angela Aggeler, who visited Jati Umrah on October 14, 2021. On her arrival, she was received by Maryam Nawaz.

The PTI chairman hit at Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif as well and said, “Shehbaz Sharif you have worked really hard. You have polished many boots. Whoever came from the American Embassy you used to polish their boots.”

Berating the Sharif brothers, Khan said: “Shehbaz Sharif is asking what to do after becoming the prime minister. He said that inflation is rising and foreign exchange is tumbling. The two brothers (Shehbaz and Nawaz Sharif) are now trapped and they are wondering what to do.”

  • ‘Sub nay aapnay paison se ticket li hai’: Miftah Ismail on tax money for London trip

‘Sub nay aapnay paison se ticket li hai’: Miftah Ismail on tax money for London trip

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, in a video, has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation who is currently in London has gone at their own expense.

Miftah said, “We all have come at our own expense and bought our airline tickets ourselves. Some of us have come in business class and some via economy and all have bought their own tickets.”

“This is what Imran Khan does, he lies but we are living at our own expense in the hotel as well. We are not like PTI who move around on the government’s expenses,” said Miftah.

PML-N’s visit received a lot of backlash from PML-N’s opponents to the general public. The timing of the PM and his top leadership’s visit to London is being questioned, with observers asking why such a trip is necessary when the country is in dire straits.

The PML-N was criticised that the entire cabinet was going to meet a ‘corrupt and convicted’ person, that too on taxpayers’ money.

PML-N’s agrees on not holding early elections

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with his key cabinet members and party leaders, had a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and it has been decided that there will be no early elections and the main focus of the current government should be on providing economic relief to the masses and also taking tough but long-term economic decisions, reports The News.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that PM Shehbaz and ministers in his delegation presented a full report on Pakistan’s socio-economic and political situation to Nawaz Sharif.

Aurangzeb further stated that the meeting deliberated upon the IMF conditions and how the people of Pakistan were affected by them.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said there was nothing surprising in the London meeting.

“Nawaz Sharif is our Quaid. The meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif was long overdue. We have inherited today’s Pakistan in a written-off situation and we needed to review the whole situation to formulate a plan. This was a private delegation.”

When asked about early elections, she said that the current government’s “mandate is till next year and we are here to give relief to the people of Pakistan. It’s the history of Nawaz Sharif to take Pakistan out of economic crisis and if there is one person who can deliver, that’s Shehbaz Sharif. Only the PML-N has the right strategy.”

  • PML-N does not have any video of Khan: Ahsan Iqbal

PML-N does not have any video of Khan: Ahsan Iqbal

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believed in serving the masses and not politics of revenge and agitation.

Speaking about the rumours of compromising videos soon to be launched against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Iqbal said that PML-N does not have such videos nor does it have any intention but we have a record of Khan’s government’s performance.

Speaking on Geo News programme ‘Naya Pakistan’, Iqbal said that we consider such politics as inferior and third-degree politics. He said that Imran Khan’s incompetence and corruption are mountains of K2, and there is no need for anything else. “If Imran Khan or any minister has damaged the national treasury and there is evidence, they will go to jail.”

Regarding the allegations of a foreign conspiracy against Imran Khan, Ahsan Iqbal said that the inquiry regarding letter gate will be presented to the nation in a transparent manner. He further added that the government cannot form a commission of inquiry.

Iqbal said that Imran Khan can approach the court if he wants to form a judicial commission. “A letter has already been sent to the chief justice. If he thinks so, he can set up a commission.”
