    Pakistanis celebs make fun of ‘Barzakh’ ban

    The web series Barzakh has ended, but the drama around it continues. Zee Zindagi announced it will remove the show from YouTube Pakistan on August 9 due to controversy over its ‘inappropriate’ content.

    Designer Maria B threatened to take the Barzakh team to court for promoting what she called ‘provocative’ themes.

    In response, other well-known figures like Ali Gul Pir, Zhalay Sarhadi, Sofia Khan, and Absa Komal have spoken out against ban and cancel culture, offering their own views on how such issues should be handled.

    Student Raza Nazar makes history after getting elected president of the Graduate Community at Oxford University, becoming the first Muslim and Pakistani to hold this position.

    He stated that his research focuses on constitutional theory and sovereignty, Geo news reports.

    The President of the Graduate Community (MCR) at Oxford University represents and advocates for the interests of graduate students, fostering community engagement through events and activities. They also serve as a liaison between students and university administration, ensuring their voices are heard on important issues.

    After earning his primary education in Karachi, Raza Nazar completed his law degree from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he held the position of President of the LSE Law Society. During his time at LSE, he also co-founded the LSE Future of Pakistan conference, an annual event that gathers students, experts, and government officials.

    Raza pursued a Bachelor of Civil Laws (BCL) while at Oxford which the University of Oxford describes as “the most highly regarded taught master’s-level qualification in the Common Law world,” joining the few Pakistanis to have completed the BCL,  including former Prime Minister Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy and former President Wasim Sajjad.

    Makhdoom Jamiluzzaman, a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) affiliated Member of the National Assembly (MNA) has expressed disappointment over his party’s performance in Punjab.

    ‘’Bilawal Bhutto Zardari cannot become Prime Minister (PM) with Sindh votes only,” he said at the ceremony at a local hotel on his father’s 85th birth anniversary.

    ‘’Punjab PPP leaders have been holding essential party positions yet failing to help Bilawal. Therefore, they must step down or be removed,’’ he stated.
    Jamiluzzaman, the son of the late PPP stalwart Amin Fahim observed that the same people vote for Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Marium Nawaz and former Prime Minister Imran Khan—but not for Bilawal Bhutto. He questioned his party ‘’Why do these votes not go to Bilawal? Why is the Punjab PPP sleeping? Why are Punjab people holding important positions?”

    He also hinted at leading a delegation to meet party leadership to reactivate PPP in Punjab.

    Protests end as Baloch Solidarity Committee reaches agreement with government

    The Baloch Solidarity Committee (BSC) has announced the end of their protest after successful negotiations with the government, concluding its sit-in in Gwadar and other cities of Balochistan on the night of August 8.

    The negotiations took place in Gwadar, with the government delegation led by Senior Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmad Bilidi and the BSC represented by Dr. Mah Rang Baloch and Sami Deen Baloch, Dawn newspaper reports.

    The Baloch Solidarity Committee organizer stated that, after ending the sit-in in Gwadar, members would travel to Turbat for a public meeting. The convoy is scheduled to leave for Turbat at 10 a.m., with a public rally planned for noon.

    Commissioner Makran Daud Khalji, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Hamudur Rehman, SSP Najeeb Pendran, and National Party leader Hussain Ashraf were also present during the talks.

    Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has predicted that the incumbent government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), will last only two more months.

    Inside Rawalpindi Adiala’s jail, the former Prime Minister told journalists, ‘’The government is plunging into a quagmire; however, the rulers are fools and unable to understand this.’’

    ’I am predicting this from prison that this government has only two more months.’’
    He also said he has enough time, but the incumbent rulers are running out of time.

    Earlier, Imran offered to negotiate with the stakeholders in power by selecting Chief Milli Awami Party (MAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai from his side.
