    Actor Mizna Waqas recently appeared on Faizan Sheikh and Aadi Adeal Amjad’s The Mazedaar Show and opened up about an incident when senior actor Rashid Farooqi insulted her on-set and hurled abuses.

    On the show, the Fitoor star shared a drama shoot’s experience, “I was shooting a scene with Rashid Farooqi and I had to cry for the scene which was not happening naturally or with the glycerin because my eye got too dry due to a medical condition. This angered him and he scolded me and insulted me by saying “I don’t know from where do you guys get such actors”.

    She then acted out an abusive conduct to depict his behaviour.

    Mizna made it clear with her following statements that later in her career when she was working with an acclaimed director, the Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah actor met her and told her that look all those experiences have contributed to your professional success. She concluded by saying that then in her heart she repeated the same abuse for him at that moment.

    She is famous for her role as Billo in Hum TV’s popular series Suno Chanda and its sequel Suno Chanda 2.

    Actor Mira Sethi has hit back at trolls for scrutinising her choice of dressing at the 20th Lux Style Awards. The Dil Banjaara diva took to her Instagram account to post a lengthy note to address the backlash on her attire.

    “It’s always fascinating to see trolls go nuts under photos of public-facing women in dresses or costumes or anything the trolls deem ‘vulgar’, wrote Mira in an Instagram post.

    “Go home. I don’t dress for you, I don’t dress for anyone or anything other than my own sense of joy and play and expansion. The men of this country are obsessed with policing women, constantly defining their ‘honour’ in relation to women’s bodies and clothing and appearance. It is a small-minded, decayed, hateful thing to do. You want to disempower us because a deep part of you is hurting and angry. I get it. It’s societal and it is ugly,” added Mira

    “To the women who continue to secularize public spaces with their words and clothes and defiance: you inspire me. On the face of it, it looks merely glitzy and silly, but only those subjected to the heat of abuse know that simply by being – by asserting with our voices and bodies – we are clawing back space from rotten hierarchies of power and control,” she added.

    The Chupke Chupke star received criticism over her choice of dressing at the 20th Lux Style awards 2021.

    Anwar Maqsood reveals why he does not watch Pakistani Dramas

    Veteran artist Anwar Maqsood revealed in a recent interview that he has stopped watching local television dramas due to the content being displayed. The Fifty Fifty writer expressed his disappointment in Pakistani dramas saying, “There are so many plays that even I can’t watch, ratings have ruined media freedom. The more shamelessness, pointless sentences and disrespect, the higher the rating.” 

    “Urdu literature doesn’t really have drama. We have a few, but strictly speaking, we can’t call them drama either. There are a few by Agha Hashar, there’s Anarkali by Taj Sahab, Khwaja Sahab’s dramas, but these dramas are such that if you’re watching them, on stage or on television, you enjoy them, but they don’t have a place in the library. We also don’t have much fiction in our literature. We had four to five people who’d write stories, who are all gone,” said Anwar in the interview.

    He went on to add, “New people aren’t coming in because these gadgets have taken away the love of reading and writing, people want everything from one single device. They don’t want to buy books.”

    The writer added, “No one is writing comedy anymore. Not one person. This is the case all over the world. You’ll find many serious writers, but not many who deal with comedy.”
