    In a recent interview with Express Tribune Anoushey Ashraf has opened up on sexual harassment in Pakistani entertainment industry and society in general.

    The Saanp Seehri actor said, “We were also less vulnerable. However, women around us, who came from relatively less privileged households, were regularly molested, propositioned, given lesser money and odd jobs,” recalled the celebrity.

    The #MeToo movement enlightened her on plight of women in the entertainment industry.

    On a personal front, the Sehra Mein Safar diva mentioned, “I didn’t know until I saw Pakistani women come out with their stories of abuse and harassment. That’s when I thought, ‘ye tou meray sath bhi hua hai! Even I have been sexually harassed as a child.”

    “There is a new story every day now. Even the Minaar e Pakistan video heightened my anxiety,” she recollected. “And social media shoves things down your throat, so when they were ripping her clothes off I felt like I was being touched and violated. You have to be a woman to understand what that feels like,” she concluded.

    The Jhooti actor will be essaying the role of the Serial Killer while the Zindagi Gulzar Hai diva will be playing the role of a cop.

    ‘Men should lower their gaze’: Yashma Gill on rising sexual crimes against women

    Actor Yashma Gill has blamed the “400 men” for the mob attack on Ayesha Akram at Minar-e-Pakistan.

    The Pyar Ke Sadqay actor recently appeared on Gup Shup with FUCHSIA and talked about the increasing crimes against women in Pakistan, particularly Ayesha’s mob attack. “Why are we victim blaming the survivor? Those men had the free will to chose between right and wrong and they chose wrong,” stated the actor.

    “She (Ayesha) may have planted some men but some might have the conscience not to do that,” added the Qurban actor.

    She went on to say that some of her co-actresses said that Ayesha must have thought about her dressing before going there, “I stopped them right there and said that if women are to cover themselves then men should also lower their gaze according to Islam.”

    The Alif star further said that nobody can say that she incited men to assault her, one should know whether somebody incites you, try not to be incited by that individual.

    On the work front, Yashma can be seen currently in ARY’s Aazmaish opposite Fahad Sheikh, Furqan Qureshi and Kinza Hashmi.

    In his interview with Urdu News, the actor was asked why he chose fellow actor Hina Altaf as his life partner. “I met a lot of women while working, I made friends with a few but many of them were very artificial,” he had said. “I mean, they weren’t what they presented themselves to be. While working with Hina I realised she’s a very real person and didn’t have those fake traits. She speaks the truth and minds her own business.”

    Soon after the interview, the Mere Meherbaan star received backlash as many netizens commented under various media outlet’s posts that he indirectly slammed his ex flame Sarah Khan.

    He also took to his Instagram and called out publications for not reconfirming the factual statement from him.

    “I will never raise my children like that,” adding, “Why women are expected to do chores after coming from work.”

    The Noor Bano actor concluded her stance by stating, “A woman should have a right to divorce. My father-in-law told my mother about the clause -18 in Nikkah papers, in which a girl has a right to divorce. It is generally crossed in papers, but my father-in-law made sure to uncross that section.”

I however suffer from the ailment called not being able to forget. Occupational hazard! How do you write about or portray life when you don’t remember and register what you experienced or felt? Yourself or vicariously.”

    “Things that happen or how people behave in certain situations even if left in the past become a part of our eternal selves, making up the hows and whys of what we think today, the context! And context is everything, nothing exists in isolation,” she added.

    Appearing on a local talk show recently, the Malika-e-Aliya diva talked at length about her work ethics and criteria for selecting projects. When asked about what she looks for in a script, she stated, “To be honest, I don’t get offered many scripts maybe because people are a bit intimated/scared by me.”

    The Churails star also believes that her projected voice and serious expressions turn people away.

    Yasra welcomed her first born in May 2021 and named him Ibn e Adam.
