  • Malala Yousafzai meets Angelina Jolie

    Malala Yousafzai met American actor Angelina Jolie and praised her for writing a book on children’s rights. The book is about making children aware of the injustice around them and to teach them how to stand against injustice.

    Malala, while sharing the pictures with Jolie, wrote, “I’m proud of my friend Angelina Jolie and Amnesty International for writing Know Your Rights, a book to give children the knowledge they need to stand up to injustice in their own lives and around the world.”

    “To the children and young people who are reading this: You have rights that are equal in status to that of any adult”, she added.

    Mala continued by saying, “No one has the right to harm you, to silence you, to tell you what to think or believe, to treat you as if you don’t matter, or to prevent you from participating fully in society.”

    The book named ‘Know Your Rights’ is written in partnership with Amnesty International, Angelina Jolie, and Geraldine Van Bueren.

  • Netizens troll Nadia Hussain for advocating LGBTQ rights in Pakistan

    Nadia Hussain recently appeared in an interview on a local media news channel. The anchor asked the Ladies Park diva, “Should there be a debate about LGBTQ/Gay rights in Pakistan?” to which she replied: “We can not deny the fact that they are humans, then why don’t we talk about human rights?”

    The Noor Bano actor further clarified that she is not talking about [Gay] marriage and suggested that we should talk about them staying in our traditions and norms, from a human right’s point of view.

    She added: “They do need rights to get an education, they do need to have rights of equal salary, they do need to rights of equal representation”, “forget about marriage rights,” stated Nadia.

    Netizens expressed their disagreement on the Jalan star’s statement.

    Earlier, Nadia slammed Abrar-ul-Haq for his comments on modern-day mothers.

    Minal Khan and Ahsan Mohsin Ikram’s wedding has been the talk of the town over the past week, with the bride’s looks taking centre stage in most discussions about the festivities. For the baraat, the Jalan star donned a heavily embellished cranberry-coloured traditional bridal pishwas, complete with gold detailing. The pishwas was paired with a tailed lehenga to add a touch of royalty to the look.

    The designer of the dress, Annus Abrar, took to Instagram to share the painstaking process of bringing the dress from the drawing board to life. Sharing pictures of Minal in the dress, the designer wrote, “Minal looks like a dream in a floor-length pishwas paired with farshi lehenga in shades of raspberry pink and red incorporated with handcrafted zardozi and kamdani detailing.”

    Days after Minal’s September 10 wedding, Abrar gave a deeper insight into the creation of her dress, taking to his Instagram stories to share videos and pictures of artisans at work. “Making of Minal’s bridal. Stunning shade of cranberry red with deep maroon applique incorporated with kamdani and zardozi,” he shared.

    Abrar also shared that the elaborate bridal had 38 kalis (panels), which gave the dress the perfect twirl-worthy volume. “Over 55 artisans worked day and night to create this magical piece of couture,” he said, likening it to a ‘creative village’ at work.

    After a long and stellar events, Minal and Ahsan finally tied the knot in a glittering event among friends and family on September 10.
