    Actor from ‘Euphoria’ arrested for supporting Palestine at a rally

    American actor and model Hunter Schafer, known for her role in HBO’s popular show ‘Euphoria,’ was arrested after joining a protest supporting Palestine in New York.
    According to reports, Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules Vaughn in ‘Euphoria,’ was taken into custody along with 50 other activists from the Jewish Voice for Peace during a demonstration at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York. They were protesting during President Joe Biden’s appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers.’

    The protest aimed to coincide with Biden’s interview and raise awareness about the need for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Protestors, including celebrities like Schafer, wore shirts with messages for peace and held a banner that said, “Jews to Biden: stop arming genocide.”
    Confirming the arrest, a spokesperson from the anti-Zionist organization said, “Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people.”
    “We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone,” the spokesperson added.
    The conflict in Gaza, controlled by Hamas, began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, resulting in casualties and capturing hostages. In retaliation, Israel launched a military operation in Gaza, leading to significant casualties among Palestinians.

    Pakistani short movie ‘Jamun ka Darakht’ has won the award for Best Social Justice Short Film at the Cannes World Film Festival.

     

    Director Rafay Rashdi happily shared the news on social media and congratulated everyone who worked on the film.

     

    The Cannes World Film Festival in France screens short films, web series, and feature films from all over the world.

     

    A-lister Adnan Siddiqui played a negative character in ‘Jamun Ka Dharakht’. In the trailer, he portrays a powerful media figure who treats women unfairly in the entertainment industry.

     

    The movie trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story, but the director shared it on Instagram, stating that the film is about a man and a woman and their “shared understanding”.

     

    The story is written by renowned playwright Bi Gull and produced by Faisal Kapadia. ‘Jamun Ka Dharakht’ is created by Rafay Rashdi Productions.
