Here’s why Shahid Afridi is angry at fans

While we love the fact that Pakistani celebrities are respected and valued by their fans-especially cricket stars- it’s important to remember that it doesn’t mean fans are allowed to invade anyone’s privacy. Former cricket captain Shahid Afridi addressed this issue as a guest on Vasay Chaudhry’s show ‘Gup Shab’ where he opened up about his distaste for fans who have crossed boundaries and invaded the privacy of his family. Boom Boom Afridi said he finds it unpleasant that fans make videos of him and his family when they go out.

But, Shahid said, it was disappointing to watch his family’s privacy further invaded when they were in Makkah for Umrah, sharing that it was disrespectful even for the people claiming to be a fan of the cricket player.

“When you’re going for your Umrah or Hajj with your family, your privacy is completely breached over,” Shahid noted.

“My wife does pardah. During Tawaaf, I have snatched phones from several people who were making videos. Even though I apologised to them afterwards, I have asked several times to stop making videos during that moment.”

The topic of fans crossing their limits and invading the privacy of celebrities, especially when they’re with their family members, is not new.

Cricket player Imam ul Haq spoke on Daniyal Sheikh’s podcast about an occasion when he was at a restaurant with his family. A few people shouted ‘parchi’ at him. This bullying has gone to the point that his family members no longer attend his matches, in fear of being heckled by the attendants.

“They really want to come and watch me play, but I’m just scared- this is the first time I’m talking about this. But when I’m standing on the boundary, I don’t want my mother to listen to the taunt ‘parchi’ in the stadium. If I was batting and I was out, it wouldn’t matter if I had played better before or not, while going back I would hear taunts of ‘parchi’.”

Previously, actress Romaisa Khan slammed nurses who approached the ‘John’ actress for photos when she was in tears and praying for her mother’s recovery in the ICU, an act she recalled as “insensitive” in a detailed post on Threads.

“Some people are so insensitive,” lamented the ‘John’ actress on her Threads account. “I know we are public figures but not public properties, so it’s unethical that my mom is in the ICU screaming in pain almost fighting for her life and where I am crying and praying outside and nurses literally making videos and asking for a selfie.”

So please remember that while it is natural to have immense respect for a public figure’s talent and skills, fans should also remember to respect the privacy. Celebrities are only in the public spotlight as a job, and it doesn’t give any fan the right to treat their entire existence as a public affair.

Urvashi Rautela is still crushing on Naseem Shah and here’s proof

Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela knows that a crush on Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah isn’t just a phase, but an everlong commitment. The actress shared a post on her Instagram stories about the exhilarating Asia Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and India yesterday, and guess who was in the picture? None other than Naseem Shah.

There have been rumors about Naseem and the ex beauty pageant winner having a thing for each other. The actress once shared a clip on her Instagram stories of two merged clips showing herself and the 19-year-old cricket player.

Then speculation was rife once more when Urvashi wished Naseem happy birthday underneath an Instagram post where he was sending good wishes to Shadab Khan for his wedding.

However in April Naseem let people know that no such relationship existed, when the rising cricket star was asked about the viral edited video showing him proposing to the Indian model, Naseem had refuted rumors saying he didn’t know the actress.

‘I hope my mother can see me’: Naseem Shah’s moving tribute has social media crying

Naseem Shah’s epic performance during the second One-Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and Afghanistan drove fans into a frenzy, as celebrations erupted across the nation.

For the young cricketer, however, the performance was bittersweet. He dedicated his victory to his mother, who passed away in 2019, just one day before the young cricketer appeared for his first Test match in Australia, when he was 16.

In a clip going viral on the internet, the cricket star could be heard saying:

“All I will say is that I wish my mother was alive today and she could see this.”

The Pakistani pacer previously revealed to Samaa that he went under severe grief after his mother passed away and had to take medication, adding that it is difficult to talk about his mother’s memories.

Here’s why cricketer Imam ul Haq’s parents don’t go to his matches

Pakistani cricketer Imam-ul-Haq recently went on Daniyal Sheikh’s podcast where he made a heart breaking confession about his family. He said that consistent taunts by spectators during matches has prevented his family members from watching him play live at stadiums.

The cricket star made his ODI debut in 2017 in Abu Dhabi in a match against Sri Lanka. At the time, his uncle Inzamam-ul-Haq, a former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, was the team’s chief selector. Imam’s selection sparked controversy, leading to fans of the sport taunting the player with the term ‘parchi’.

Reflecting on the bullying comments during the podcast, Imam said during the early years of his career, people used to approach him at restaurants to taunt him with ‘parchi’

“During 2017-2020 when I used to go to dinner with my family, people would approach me and call me ‘parchi’ to my face,” he said.

Imam went on to explain that because of these taunts, to this day, his parents have never watched him play in cricket stadiums:

“They really want to come and watch me play, but I’m just scared- this is the first time I’m talking about this. But when I’m standing on the boundary, I don’t want my mother to listen to the taunt ‘parchi’ in the stadium. If I was batting and I was out, it wouldn’t matter if I had played better before or not, while going back I would hear taunts of ‘parchi’.”

Since the clip was shared by cricketandstuff on X, formerly Twitter, social media users have expressed their dismay at how the cricketer has suffered relentless bullying yet manages to remain dedicated to the game.

    Ali Tareen wrote:

“Heartbreaking to hear such an accomplished player never being able to invite his parents to see him live. Just so he can protect them from hearing their son being abused.”

Shoaib Akhtar secures stay order against filming, release of biopic

Former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar took to his Instagram account to announce that he has secured a stay order against the makers of his biopic ‘Rawalpindi Express’. The stay orders will prevent the crew from filming the movie.

Akhtar warned that any person involved in the production process of the film will be held responsible by authorities:

“I have issued a stay order against the filming and release of the supposed biopic being made on my life by a certain group of people. I had to do this because they had threatened in writing of continuing filming regardless of the legal termination of the agreement. Any person involved in the project should know that its completely illegal and they will be responsible for any reputational loss.”

In the legal notice, it was mentioned that anyone associated with the film would be held responsible, and the police will raid any future filming with a court order.

Previously, Akhtar announced his departure from the film, citing “failure to resolve disagreements amicably and constant contractual violations finally resulted in us cutting ties with them,” after which the former cricketer revealed he completed all legal protocols and revoked the rights to the story of his life.

Actor Umair Jaswal, who had been selected to portray the cricket star in the project, also announced back in January in an Instagram post that he was stepping away from the film due to “personal and creative reasons”:

“Due to creative and personal reasons, I have decided to step away from the Shoaib Akhtar biopic project RAWALPINDI EXPRESS. I will no longer be associated with any media or news related to this project.”
