Shoaib Akhtar vs Nauman Niaz: Whose side is Twitter is on?

TV host Dr Nauman Niaz and former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar indulged in a tense and aggressive banter in a live show on Pakistan Television (PTV) soon after the Pakistan and New Zealand match.

Akhtar was giving his opinion on Haris Rauf and mistakenly took Shaheen Shah Afridi’s name. Nauman corrected him and after a heated exchange, Nauman asked the former pacer to leave. Shoaib resigned from the show and later he explained the reason why he did that on social media.

Soon after the live spat, Twitter was trending with reactions to the incident. We scouted Twitter to see whose side Pakistani Twitterati were on and it is clear that people think Shoaib handled the situation well and Nauman Niaz was in the wrong. While we tried to find tweets in favour of Nauman, we weren’t able to. Here are some of the reactions:

  • Younis Khan, Hassan Ali reportedly involved in heated exchange on South Africa tour

Younis Khan, Hassan Ali reportedly involved in heated exchange on South Africa tour

Younis Khan, who recently resigned from the post of batting coach in Pakistan’s men’s cricket team, was reportedly involved in a heated exchange with star pacer Hassan Ali during the South Africa tour, sports journalist Saleem Khaliq reported.

As per details, Younis had approached Hasan over a matter outside his domain in the dressing room after the match, but the latter hit back with a strong response which left the former batting coach unhappy. Younis also remained quiet and reserved during the rest of the tour, after the incident.

No comment has been made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the matter yet, while Younis has not shared anything about the incident either.

PCB and Younis, on June 22, mutually agreed to part ways. A dental treatment and strained relationship between Younis Khan and the top PCB officials was the reason behind the former’s resignation as the batting coach of the Men in Green.

Younis was also allegedly accused of leaking team lineups to his friends in the media before matches.

Khan, along with former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif, made a special appearance on ARY News’ popular program ‘Har Lamha Purjosh’, where he recounted the events that took place in the dressing room during his tenure as captain in 2009 and how they used to say that the cricketer is very rude.

Rashid, while endorsing Khan’s position, revealed that the former players had a big hand in grouping the team against him.

ICC trolled for showing Waqar Younis as Indian player

Netizens are trolling International Cricket Council (ICC) for a major blunder, showing Waqar Younis as Indian player in Hall of Fame graphics which celebrates the career of the former Pakistani pacer.

The graphic arrives within five seconds of the video that shows a picture of Waqar in his follow through alongside a brief summary of his international career.

Even though ICC changed the same after being called out, however, the fans were quick to react and criticise the Council’s media and social media team for the error.

Former Pakistan captain Waqar was inducted into ICC Hall of Fame in 2013. Born in Vehari, he led Pakistan cricket team in 17 Tests and 62 ODIs.

“It is a huge honour and privilege to be in the same category as icons like Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan and Javed Miandad. I grew up hearing about their exploits and then ended up playing with the latter two, as well as with Wasim Akram,” Waqar had said after the announcement.

“To be in the august company of some of the greatest players the game has ever seen is personally quite exciting for me. A big, heartfelt thanks from me to all the living members of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame and those from the voting academy, who thought me worthy of this.”

Meanwhile, Waqar also thanked the ICC on Twitter for honouring him.
