    PHA plants hundreds of fruit trees along Canal Road Lahore

    The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on May 17 planted around 400 fruit trees alongside the canal road Lahore which were provided by the civil society.

    The Director-General (DG) PHA Zeeshan Javed applauded the efforts of PHA for the beautification of the provincial capital.

    He also praised the PHA workers for performing their responsibilities outside in such heat and insisted that PHA is dedicated to beautifying the city by implementing various beautification programmes.

    Last week, Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman presided over a meeting at the PHA office to examine the city’s beautification efforts. The DG PHA Zeeshan Javed briefed the Commissioner on clean and green Lahore, tree planting, and ongoing and finished projects in the city during the meeting.

    He urged the officials to take steps to beautify the city’s main highways, green belts, and provincial capital’s entrances and exits.

    Federal Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar while addressing a press conference has said that cinemas, theatres, public parks, and restaurants will be reopened from August 10 (Monday) under strict SOPs.

    According to details, Umar said that Pakistan has recorded a decline in cases of COVID-19.

    He said that Educational institutions are expected to reopen on September 15 but all the SOPs will be monitored on September 7.

    Marriage halls are opening on September 15 and the gym centers will also be allowed to open from August 10, added the minister.

  • Public parks in Lahore reopen after 75-day closure

    A large number of people in Lahore have visited various public parks of the city after they were opened for the general public today.

    As per reports, the public parks of the city have been opened after 75-day closure amid coronavirus outbreak in the city.

    The people adopted the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the provincial government to curb the virus spread.

    On Thursday, the Punjab government had decided to reopen public parks in the provincial capital Lahore from May 5 (today).

    The Director-General of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Muzaffar Khan Sial, had announced that the provincial government decided to reopen public parks in Lahore. The parks will be open from 6 am to 9 pm.

    Sial had added that the parks will be reopened under the standard operating procedures (SOPs) finalised by the provincial health department. The citizens will only be allowed to enter into the parks after wearing face masks and gloves.

    DG PHA urged the citizens to strictly follow precautionary measures and social distancing while visiting the public parks.

  • Punjab parks to be converted into field hospitals

    The Punjab government has decided to set up field hospitals at various parks across the province to treat patients who have been infected with COVID-19.

    Asif Mehmood, the chairperson of the Parks and Horticulture Authority, said that these field hospitals will serve as quarantine centres when the burden on hospitals increases.

    He said he has issued directions to administrations of different cities to follow these orders.

    In Rawalpindi, Hilal-e-Ahmar has set up a 200-bed field hospital in a park.

    “These hospital will be used for treating the coronavirus,” Hilal-e-Ahmar chairperson Abrarul Haq said, adding that the hospital has ICU beds and ventilators.

    The United States of America has also done this when its cases were increased and almost 1,000 New Yorkers were killed by the virus.

    Emergency field hospitals were readied in New York’s Central Park and at the home of the US Open tennis tournament when the US death toll from the coronavirus surpassed that of China.
