  • Moonis bought benami Spanish properties on same day father Pervaiz Elahi became CM

Chaudhry Moonis Elahi purchased several properties in Spain on the day his father, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, took oath as Chief Minister (CM) Punjab on July 27 last year.

Writing for The News, Umer Cheema has revealed that this information has been obtained by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from Spanish authorities.

Moonis confirmed holding benami properties in Spain, which includes an apartment, a Range Rover and a company among the newly made assets apart from a bank account and previously incorporated companies.

Moonis admitted to their ownership and said he would declare them in his next year’s tax return. He said it was nothing more than a coincidence that the purchase of properties occurred on the day his father took the oath.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore had written a letter to the authorities in Spain for an ongoing investigation of alleged corruption, looting and ill-gotten properties against the family.

It has been found that Barcelo hotel in Barcelona is also owned by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi family, while another multi-story plaza is also said to be owned by Elahi family—with a person named Saqib Tahir appointed as caretaker, reports Samaa News.

The Canary Islands in Spain are also said to be home to various historic buildings, plazas and orchards, owned by Eahi family.

Moonis Elahi has recently started a taxi service in Barcelona by obtaining 250 taxi vehicles on bank lease.

In Spain, Chaudhary Pervez is known as the frontman of the Elahi Family.

Pervaiz Elahi facing arrest for irregular hiring of 200 Punjab Assembly employees

Former Punjab Chief Minister (CM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is likely to be arrested for irregular recruitments in the Punjab Assembly without following rules and regulations.

Reportedly, the anti-corruption department is keeping an eye on the case while the government has completed an inquiry against him.

The former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader is alleged to have recruited 200 people in the assembly when he was the speaker of the House and when he became CM.

On January 12, Elahi, as CM Punjab, signed a summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly on the directives of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Later, he and his son Moonis Elahi joined Khan’s party following a fallout with his cousin and PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

  • Pervaiz Elahi ko humnay aisay rakha hai jaisay handi mein masala, says Fawad Chaudhry

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry spoke disparagingly against party president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

Fawad Chaudhry said that Elahi is not a public favourite, rather he is someone who does politics with the powerful.

Fawad further said that every party has a ‘handi’ [cooked dish] in which different spices are added, and he [Pervaiz Elahi] is also an important spice.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former Chief Minister of Punjab, Elahi, has recently parted ways with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and joined PTI.

The rift between Elahi and Chaudhry seems to continue as in the past the party president had spoken in favour of Fawad’s arrest and later apologised for his statement.

  • Cannot air anything related to the conduct of serving judges, says PEMRA

Cannot air anything related to the conduct of serving judges, says PEMRA

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has prohibited electronic media to broadcast anything which is related to the conduct of serving judges of High Courts and Supreme Court (SC).

In a notification, issued on Thursday, PEMRA said that it has been observed that despite repeated directives, satellite TV channels are “persistently discussing the conduct of honourable judges of superior courts and orchestrating vilification campaign through airing slanderous allegations.”

It also added that the broadcast of such a thing is a clear violation of the PEMRA Ordinance, hence they have issued the orders.

PEMRA has also warned that if the orders are not implemented, the license of the respective TV channel will be suspended.

The development has taken place when the credibility of judges is being discussed after alleged audio leaks of a Supreme Court judge came to light.

In the audio conversation that was leaked online last month, allegedly featured former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Pervaiz Elahi talking to and about a sitting SC judge.

Later, in a YouTube show “Talk Shock”, veteran journalists Azaz Syed and Umar Cheema claimed that more audio leaks related to judges might surface soon.

  • NAB is talking about 10 billion, my entire family doesn’t have 10 billion: Usman Buzdar

NAB is talking about 10 billion, my entire family doesn’t have 10 billion: Usman Buzdar

Former Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Buzdar has said on Monday that it is a strange thing that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is talking about 10 billion, while his entire family’s assets aren’t even worth 10 billion.

Speaking outside of the Accountability Court in Lahore where he had appeared in an assets beyond means case, Buzdar said that the bureau is making cases against him, his family, and his friends. He challenged NAB, saying that he will file a case against it hoping that he will get relief from the courts.

When asked about former CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi, who recently joined PTI, Buzdar seemed to avoid answering directly, stating that since he is standing outside of the court, there should be no talk or discussion related to politics.

Buzdar has been given an extension in his interim bail till March 7.

The court also ordered him to become part of the NAB investigation and warned him that if he didn’t do it then the court will not provide him relief.

The accountability court also scolded the NAB prosecutor for not providing an inquiry copy to Buzdar and said that the accused should know what he is accused of. The lawyer informed the court that a written document was sent to Buzdar but he did not become part of the investigation.

Imran confirms Pervaiz Elahi is now President of PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has confirmed in a speech that his party has “honoured” Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi for standing with the party and appointed him as the President of PTI.

Addressing his followers through a video link on Thursday, the PTI chief started off by claiming that the establishment pressurised Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q). “They even were offered money and were threatened that there is no future for them with PTI”, he said.

Stating that despite all this, the father and son stayed loyal, Imran Khan appreciated Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi for their efforts, especially for dissolving the Punjab Assembly on Khan’s directives.

“Despite all the pressure, he agreed to a merger. We told him [Elahi] that we are honouring him by making him the president of the party,” Khan said.

On Tuesday, Moonis and his father formally joined PTI with ten other former Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).

On the same day, addressing a press conference in Lahore alongside PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, Elahi said he had stood with Khan during “hard and testing times”. Fawad also announced that Pervaiz Elahi will be the President of PTI.

PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain dismissed Elahi from his party post and terminated his basic membership on Tuesday.

More audio leaks of judges coming soon, claims journalists

Veteran journalists Azaz Syed and Umar Cheema have claimed on their YouTube show “Talk Shock” that more audio leaks which have the potential to plunge the country into further crisis, might surface soon.

The two journalists discussed the recently leaked audio recordings which allegedly feature former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Pervaiz Elahi talking about a sitting Supreme Court (SC) judge. The two journalists said that according to their well-informed sources, there are some audio leaks that may release soon.

Syed said that some of the recordings are also related to former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar.

However, both of them clarified that the information is not confirmed yet.

Azaz added that judges’ phones are not being taped and highlighted that the recording of someone’s call is highly immoral and condemned the audio leaks.

Moreover, they thoroughly discussed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s heavy criticism of the judiciary, claiming that government might know about the contents of the upcoming audio leaks.

  • Imran is still being facilitated by traces that Faiz Hameed left: Maryam Nawaz

Imran is still being facilitated by traces that Faiz Hameed left: Maryam Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz, while talking exclusively to Geo News’ programme “Jirga with Saleem Safi” shed light on the ongoing political crisis and emerging differences between her and the party’s senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Claiming that the new setup in the establishment is neutral, Maryam Nawaz said that there are elements associated with Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed that are helping Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan because their interests are interlinked.

She said that due to this support, Khan doesn’t appear before the court despite being called numerous times.

Maryam deemed the content of the alleged audio leaks of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as “bench fixing”.

“I said long ago that bench fixing is happening. Elahi’s leaked audio is its evidence,” she stated.

All set for elections, says Maryam Nawaz

Reflecting upon the provincial elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, which is the core demand of PTI, Maryam said that she and her party are all set for elections.

When asked if the party was avoiding polls, Maryam stated: “Who said [we are] running away from elections? I am in front of the public and preparing for the polls.”

She added that all the places that she has visited recently are a part of the election campaign. “We are preparing for the polls. Everyone wants a ticket from PML-N,” she claimed.

The party’s chief organiser said that there is a list of people who wants PML-N’s tickets from all four provinces.

Shahid Khaqan’s departure from PML-N would be an insult to me: Maryam Nawaz

Addressing the rumours of a rift between her and former PML-N senior vice-president Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam said that she had a detailed conversation with him for two and a half hours about his resignation.

Maryam said that Abbasi’s departure from the party will be an “insult to me, not to him”; however, Khaqan told her that she is like a sister to him. “He wanted to give me some space. I will not let Abbasi go, nor is he going anywhere,” she maintained.

Don’t believe in revenge: Maryam Nawaz

When asked that there are apprehensions that Maryam might take revenge when she comes to power, the PML-N senior vice president said, “I don’t have to do anything, they already are suffering because of their own deeds.”

She said that she doesn’t believe in revenge and won’t do what Khan’s government did in the past to her party. Moreover, she said that now both the establishment and Khan are busy exposing each other.

    Maryam assures Nawaz’s return

Maryam again assured party followers that her father, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, will come back. She said: “This is Nawaz Sharif’s homeland and he will return to the country.”

“Fake cases were lodged against him and he not only appeared before the law [judiciary] but also accepted the victimisation with dignity in the larger interest of the country,” she said.

  • Sanaullah calls for forensic test of Elahi’s alleged ‘leaked audio’

Sanaullah calls for forensic test of Elahi’s alleged ‘leaked audio’

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial to take notice of a recent audio leak purportedly involving former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Sanaullah called for a forensic test of the leaked phone recording. He also urged the top judge to bring the culprits to justice.

“If the former Punjab CM is found guilty after the forensic, then the matter should be presented before the judicial committee,” he added.

In a sensational audio leak that surfaced online on Thursday, Elahi, can allegedly be heard talking to a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, about Mohammad Khan Bhatti’s case.

The audio recordings, released in three parts, allegedly feature the voice of Elahi, a close ally of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), talking to three different people.

In the first part, Pervaiz Elahi is talking to lawyer Jahangir Jhoja in Punjabi, and asks him to ensure that Mohammed Ali Bhatti’s case is put up before the said judge. Bhatti, the former Secretary of Punjab Assembly, considered a close aide of Pervaiz Elahi’s, was arrested from Karachi on February 6 while he was en route to Sindh High Court for protective bail.

Jhoja allegedly replies to Pervaiz Elahi that they will try to make it happen. Pervaiz Elahi then says, “He is dabang (bold).”

In the second audio leak, Pervaiz Elahi talks to Abid Zuberi, the President of Supreme Court Bar Association. Elahi again asks him to ensure that the case is put up before the same judge. “Have they filed the case sir,” Zuberi asks, to which Elahi replies in the affirmative, asking Zuberi not to tell anyone.

Zuberi then says, “Day after tomorrow, Dogar’s case will be heard too, on 14th. [The judge] is part of the bench.” Elahi does not seem to remember who Dogar is, upon which Abid Zuberi reminds him that Ghulam Muhammad Dogar was the CCPO Lahore. “He has been removed but the case still is pending before the court, Sir,” Zuberi says. “I will discuss it,” said Pervez Elahi.

The third and final audio allegedly is of a phone conversation between Pervaiz Elahi and the judge himself. The former Chief Minister tells the judge that he is coming over to meet him. He also asks if Muhammad Khan is there to which the reply is that he has reached. Elahi then allegedly says that he is coming without protocol and is quite near. He allegedly says that he will offer salam and then depart.

The audio clip is cut off at this point.

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has condemned continuous police raids at former Chief Minister Perviaz Elahi’s home.

“Strongly condemn the repeated police raids on Pervez Elahi’s home in Gujrat as well as arbitrary arrests & abductions of his supporters & those who worked with him.”

“This is naked fascism on the part of Imported Govt & their Handlers, simply to spread fear in all who support us,” added Khan.

“Just to remind, arrests of & actions ag Sharifs & others during our govt, were a result of NAB cases with over 95% filed before we were voted into power & of the int Panama revelations. While in custody they were given VIP treatment. But what they wanted was NRO which we refused,” tweeted Khan.

‘Bhatti may be subject to forcible disappearance’: Pervaiz Elahi concerned about Secretary’s arrest

Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti was arrested in Sindh on Monday.

According to news reports, his house in Gujranwala was also raided by police, and a domestic employee was arrested on the same day.

The news report stated that Bhatti was wanted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in different cases.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi expressed fears that Bhatti may be subject to forcible disappearance.

In a statement Elahi said, “The way our legal advisor Amir Saeed Ran remains missing, he too may be subject to disappearance.”

“What kind of message is being sent if officers from Punjab start disappearing from Sindh?” he asked.

Meanwhile, Moonis Elahi tweeted, “Police , FIA and others again at Kunjah House . They keep raiding without warrant. By raiding our house you think you will make us leave @ImranKhanPTI . Think again!!”
