    Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards: Laughing snake, other finalists will make your day

    The Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards shortlisted 42 images for its 2021 competition after receiving entries of over 7,000 photos from every corner of the world.

    The final 42 pictures include a laughing vine snake from India, a trio of strutting Gentoo penguins on the beaches of the Falkland Islands and a kangaroo performing a picture-perfect Pavarotti impersonation in Australia.

    Co-founded in 2015 by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam, aimed to create a competition that focused on the lighter side of wildlife photography and help promote wildlife conservation through humour.

    This year’s competition is supporting Save Wild Orangutans and is donating 10 per cent of its total net revenue to the charity.

    Man taken to hospital after fight over WhatsApp display picture

    A young man was shifted to a hospital after a fight over a WhatsApp display picture (DP) in India’s ​​Hyderabad, Geo News reported.

    According to the local police, a young man named Akram had posted a picture of Mohsin’s female cousin as his WhatsApp DP. Mohsin did not like it and warned Akram to remove the picture immediately.

    Akram did not remove his display picture after which the two had an argument, which ended up in a serious fight. Akram and his companions then thrashed Mohsin.

    According to the local police, when Mohsin tried to run away, Akram attacked Mohsin with a knife, injuring him severely.

    Later, the police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital for treatment, where Mohsin’s condition is said to be critical. Police have registered a case of attempted murder and initiated action.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday shared a picture from 1992 on his Instagram account using the hashtag # #MemoriesFromPast.

    The picture shows PM Khan standing at Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust Hospital with a few other people. The caption reads, “Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Hospital, Lahore 1992 #MemoriesFromPast

     This is not the first time PM Khan has shared a picture from his archives. Earlier, he posted a picture from 1971 while he was on a tour in England.

    A week earlier, PM Khan shared a video of his cricket debut. The video is posted with the caption, “Cricket Debut exactly 50 years ago..”

    The Current asked Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media Dr Arslan Khalid if the prime minister would be sharing more pictures from the past. Dr Khalid said, “PM will try to share such pictures with the hashtag #MemoriesFromPast every now and then on his Instagram.”

    The premier is very active on social media platforms with 5.1m followers on Instagram and 13.8 m followers on Twitter.

    Authorities fix pothole after videos of a man ‘bathing’ in it went viral

    Authorities in the Indonesian regency of Central Lombok fixed a giant pothole after videos and pictures of a man “bathing” and “fishing” in it did the rounds on social media.

    According to details, the man, Amaq Ohan wanted to draw the attention of road authorities to the problem so he took a bath and did fishing in that pothole.

    One of the videos show Ohan taking  a bath in a pothole with his clothes on. He used a mug to pour water on himself and also washed his hair.

    Pictures that are circulating on the internet show Ohan sitting cross-legged on a plastic chair with an umbrella in his hand and fishing in the middle of the flooded pothole.

    The pothole was fixed by the relevant authorities after the videos and images went viral and made headlines.

    Lockdown weddings have become a trend with many celebrities getting married during this time. The latest celebrity to tie the knot is Haroon of the 90s pop band Awaz. The singer got married in a low-key ceremony amidst close family members and friends.

    The couple looked amazing in the shades of white and muted gold. While Haroon donned an outfit by Amir Adnan, his bride’s trousseau was done by Warda Qutub Khan. According to details, Haroon’s wife Farwa hails from Gilgit-Baltistan which explains why the singer posed with a Pakol (Chitrali cap) on his head.
