Akram, who is currently doing a sports transmission on A Sports, recalled a hilarious incident from Pakistan’s tour to West Indies in the 1980s. Although, the 1992 world cup winning captain was one of the finest bowlers of his time, he had an off-day against the Caribbean.
According to Wasim, the former captain was smashed for plenty of runs in his eight over bowling spell.
“When the team went to practice the next day, Imran Khan saw the bowling figures on the scoreboard and stopped,” Akram said. Imitating PM Khan, Akram added that the skipper then asked Zakir Khan to remove the bowling figures from the scoreboard.
The Sultan of swing was talking about the fourth one-day international of the 1988 series between Pakistan and West Indies. The Pakistan cricket team batted first and scored 271 runs in 43 overs. The Caribbean chased down the target in the 41st over with 7 wickets in hand. Imran Khan was the most expensive bowler as he conceded 76 runs in his 8 overs.
This is not the first time that the former speedster has imitated anyone. Earlier, he also copied Haris Rauf from an incident in which he was being interviewed by Indian cricket host Anjum Chopra and she was speaking difficult Hindi with him. Haris was given Player of the match award for his prolific spell against the New Zealand team and he was finding it difficult to understand her, making weird expressions.
Wasim imitated Rauf while host Fakhr-e-Alam was speaking Hindi for him. Have a look:
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief executive Tom Harrison will meet with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, as well as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja, in a bid to repair relations with Pakistan in the wake of last month’s cancelled T20I tour.
Officials at the PCB were enraged when England pulled out of the two-match tour at short notice a few weeks ago.
Now Harrison has flown in to assure Ramiz, the new chairman of the PCB, that England remain committed to their Test tour of the country at the end of 2022. England have not toured Pakistan since late 2005.
He is also set to meet with PM Khan, Pakistan’s greatest allrounder and World Cup-winning captain, prior to his move into politics, who also serves as patron-in-chief of the PCB.
Speaking in the wake of the cancelled T20I tour, which followed hot on the heels of New Zealand’s abandonment of their own tour on the morning of their opening ODI in Rawalpindi, Ramiz hit out at what he called cricket’s “western bloc”, and said that the PCB would be making contingency plans to protect their home itinerary in the event of another England pull-out next year.
Reportedly, Harrison’s trip is only expected to last a couple of days. He is due in the UAE later in the week as the ICC hold their first in-person chief executives’ meeting since the start of the pandemic.
The news came after Cricket Australia announced its plans for a three-Test, three-ODI and one T20I tour in March-April 2022. If it goes ahead as planned, it will be their first tour of the country since 1998.
The registration of poor families whose monthly income is less than Rs31,000 has begun today under the Ehsaas Rashan Programme. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar, giving details of the programme, said that the eligible families will be able to obtain items of daily use like flour, oil, sugar and pulses at subsidised rates from Utility Stores and retail stores (kiryana shops). Small retail stores opened even in streets and localities will also provide this facility if they are registered and authorised for this system.
Another survey will be used to identify deserving families for this new pro-poor programme. It will take three or four weeks to complete the process of registration. The beneficiaries will need a mobile phone number registered on their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), which will be produced before the specific stores from which purchases on subsidised rates will be sought.
How will it work?
The kiryana merchants will require downloading the relevant app on their Android phones, entering CNIC numbers of the customers and pass on the benefits after authentication from the back-end immediately.
The customer will receive a verification code, which would be entered by the kiryana merchant in the app.
Eligibility Criteria:
20 million households across Pakistan with a poverty score of less than 39 and an income of Rs 31,000 per month.

Actor Fahad Mustafa took to his twitter handle to criticise the ruling government after a massive increase in the prices of the petrol in the country. He also slammed the famous phrase of PM Imran Khan, ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ by tweeting that ‘ab khul ke ghabrao’.
He followed up his tweet with some sarcastic posts.
On Wednesday, a parliamentary committee rejected the anti-forced conversion bill after the Ministry of Religious Affairs opposed the proposed law. According to Dawn, Religious Affairs Minister Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said the “environment is unfavourable” for formulating a law against forced conversions and warned that forming a law on forced conversions would “create further problems for minorities” as they will be made more vulnerable. He also said the proposed law will deteriorate peace in the country.
It is unfortunate that the minister thinks such a law will lead to problems and will affect peace in the country. Minorities in Pakistan make up a very small number as more than 96 per cent population of the country is Muslim. So why would a bill that is against forced conversions, something that our religion also does not allow, make the minorities vulnerable? The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees that the rights of the minorities would be fully protected. Forced conversions are against the spirit of the Constitution as well as our religious teachings.
The Joint Action Committee for People’s Rights (JAC), a collection of 37 human rights groups, in an open letter has urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to take legal as well as administrative measures to protect minorities, especially the under age girls from forced conversions and marriages. The letter has also urged PM Khan to ensure the approval of the draft bill for timely legislation. The JAC also expressed its concern on the statements of the Minister for Religious Affairs on the draft bill to curb forced conversions, recalling that such statements are not only against the spirit of the Constitution, judgments of the Supreme Court of Pakistan but are also in contradiction with the stand taken by the PM against forced conversion of minority groups in Pakistan.
Hopefully, the government will address this issue soon. We know that the majority of these forced conversions are underage girls from minority communities. Such practices should not be condoned by the government. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had envisioned a Pakistan where the minorities would feel safe. We should not let our founding father down.
